Oh Nina it's so hard to hear I can't imagine what it was like for you to live through all of that! Honestly it's a testimony to your strength of character as a human being that despite all the torture and abuse you endured from birth that now you present as a kind decent human and I wish I could be your friend! Please keep sharing your story because there's a young girl that maybe is on the bus on her way to or from school that will see your story and know that what she's enduring is not okay! I think you're beautiful and I'm so grateful you're alive!!!!❤️
@MishMashOz271 Thats horrific. Right now in Afghanistan women are killing themselves because they cant go to school or work anymore. Iranian women are being arrested for not wearing hijab. All these stories of abuses but its rarely discussed in the mainstream or by the social justice advocates.
@@tubester4567people shy away from these issues in fear of being perceived as "culturally insensitive" or racist which in itself is bonkers. No woman or girl should be treated as less than human. It should be unacceptable anywhere and everywhere.
Mrs H 🇬🇧 ... If they don't want girls then why did they keep you...Many in UK would of raised and loved you.... No innocent child from any culture should EVER such suffer such heinous abuse ... I have no doubt you'll carry this trauma for the rest of your life BUT I think your AN extremely brave survivor.... Thank you for sharing your story .... I'm so sorry you suffered so much...💔
Dear Nina, how horrific this time was for you, thank you for sharing. Always remember your beautiful stunning, and listening to you your so lovely and these so call family members what they did they should have if in the UK they had the death penalty they deserved it. I’m so sorry you had a lonely awful time I hope now you are happier and you have your children. I felt your heartbreak Take care beautiful Nina ❤❤❤
She's not seemingly functional. She is functional. Don't assume abused victims are broken, often they are the strongest, most aware and fully functional people you will ever meet.
So her brother, a man who beats his partner with a hammer openly admits to attempted murder and NOTHING happens? This is beyond disgusting and a travesty of justice
Her family has no honor to retain. The fact that so many years have gone by and they still send 30-40 death threats a month is absolutely insane. When her parents die, I hope the only tears she sheds are tears of relief.

@@BeckBeckGo Assuming she's in the UK, I don't know how restraining orders work there. I *do* know how they work where I live in the US, that they expire after 2 years and you have to petition to renew them. They do also require you to give your location of work and/or location of residence, so that the person is barred from going to those places or calling landlines.
I’ve never wanted to just hug and hold someone so badly. I don’t know her personally but I want her to know how loved she is, and how beautiful her soul is.
I feel the same way. I wish I could be her friend and show her nothing but love, kindness, joy. I would hug her and hold her and stroke her hair and tell her how much she was loved.
One thing you can do is to learn the names of your neighbors and their kids. If you haven’t already. Imagine if she had had one neighbor who showed her she was important enough that they knew her name. You can do that for someone.
Yes, I third what you all are saying and would also love to be able to love her and be her dear friend/earth sister. How she is still so kind and truly the strongest person ever, is just so amazing and so inspiring. Wishing her the best and most loving life ever!!
@@realstatisticianthat is great advice! Everyone needs to absolutely do this, as well as keep a close eye on/get acquainted with children at your child(ren)’s school. Your awareness and voice could literally be life or death for them.

100%. There is zero honor or exhalation in abusing, starving, molesting and killing your children, especially as a “punishment” for being a girl or birthing a girl.
Im a grown man, 50 years old and not ashamed to say ive cried at every turn of this story. As a father of 3 very much loved daughters i feel SO hurt for her.
Don't be ashamed. It's not weakness it's human. Please remember that. Crying is apart of us yet somehow it's a crime. It shouldn't be that way. Normal human emotions should never be a sign of weakness or should be suppressed. Guys who say it isn't manly are cowards. You sir, are human and you should never apologize for your feelings, nor be ashamed of feeling empathy for someone. You are clearly a person with a heart of gold. That's rare nowadays! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
Wish all of us had a father like you I told my father that one of our family member is very in appropriate with me. He just nodded and went back to using his phone. My mother told me “we’ve known him for a long time and we grew up together. He’s not like that. You’re lying” If any parent is reading this, I beg you to listen to your children when they say something vulnerable.
Easily one of the strongest people I've ever seen. She's been through the worst of the worst. The fact she can even talk about it shows immense strength. I hope the best for her and other women in her position
The problem is that a lot of survivors don't show it all outside. She might still be suffering incredibly on the inside. And similarly - many people we meet have shit ton of sadness, fear and anger inside us.
@@anne_vvvexactly. People think that just because somebody puts on some nice looking clothes and combs their hair then they must be doing alright. Not how it works at all. Often times the people who are struggling the most emotionally are the ones who seem bubbly and well adjusted.
I'm an Afghan woman and our neighbor a man in his 60s beated his 60+ year old wife so bad that she was limping and she developed some kind of dementia because of head injuries. This Same wife was with him all his life, raised their children and yet she was beaten in his senior life. The old man passed away and he was a local role model for his "fierceness ". It is culture and I get a lot of judgment for being so critical of women treatment in South Asian culture.
One of my dear friends is from Pakistan and she hates her own culture and thinks that it is ridiculous. She is an almost 40 year old virgin who gets lectured for "being out and wild" if she even dares to have lunch with a girlfriend. Her parents expect her entire life to revolve around them and their dysfunctional family. Her parents have done nothing to get her married because they like her paycheck too much. I have never met them, but I don't like them from what she tells me. Only horrible people use their own children as cash cows and give them sh@t for wanting to have a life. If you don't want your children to act American, then stay where you are and don't come here. There is nothing "fierce" about beating a woman. It is only a weak coward who does that.
I'm in the Chicago area and a girl was murdered by her father by beating her. But his wife had mental issues because she was beaten too. Things like this makes a person wanna denounce their race/culture!
Blaming her for not being a virgin yet HE and his buddies were the ones to rape her, while he mother stood by. The sense it doesn't make is astounding. The fact that she has been able to rise above the hurt and torment she endured for so many years of her life is a testament to the kind of person she must be. wishing her nothing but happiness and love for the remainder of her life
@@CompUter-oo7er absolutely! That dog was more human than those monsters. I haven’t stopped thinking about this woman’s story and imagining how many others are going through this as we speak.
My heart goes out to this woman. How are people so horrible and evil allowed to carry on. Her treatment is unthinkable. A dog can literally save your emotional health and your heart if you are in terrible home life as child. Until I was allowed to have one I knocked on every neighbors door who had a dog as a little girl. I proved to them I could handle walking their large dogs and eventually it became expected that I'd be taking their dog for walks every day. We had the best moments of my life. We'd sit together, we'd go to abandoned buildings, eat lunch together by the creek, and they let you love on them as much as you want to. Finally I was given a small dog. She was the best thing to ever happen, but my mother came home one day and said we were getting rid of her. I pleaded, cried until I couldn't breathe, but we still drove to give her away. I remember her fur being soaked from my face as we got out of the car and I touched her. My hands couldn't let go of her. I will never forget sitting her down in the people's driveway and am suddenly unable to write this without crying at the memory of it. Now, decades later I try to get to know my mother in her older age, and we pretend to like each other more than we do, but I lost trust and feeling for her that I will never get back no matter how hard I try. Please if you have kids who are dedicated to taking care of things, and ONLY if you trust that they will give the utmost care to a pet, get them a rescue dog from a shelter or a dog rescue. If there is screaming and constant strife in the house though, please please don;t do it because it is painful for animals to live in domesticated, loud and stressful households and more than any creatures on earth; they deserve nothing but good because they are pure, and are angels. God Bless.

So sad what happened to this woman. This is why we need to criticize the bad parts of each culture. Just because its "part of their culture" doesn't mean its ok.
That’s so true because honor killings happen in Europe still and no one ever talks about them but when it’s in the middle east or south Asia people it’s the only time people talk about
it's unfortunately the evil people and not the culture which cause this. If you have an evil person, you can't change him. I mean like how can a father (with friends) rape his own daughter? That's not a thing that belongs to any culture.
@@Azaarvpropel do talk about inter family killings in Europe. They are just harder to spot because the perpetrators are either in rural areas where no one will find out or more in tune with the rules of their country and how to not be caught. Plus it’s way less common. And WAY less boring. “Honor killing in UK” sounds interesting, “husband killed wife and daughter” is just another repeated news headline. There is a difference in magnitude and media attention.

Let's not forget, it's also the disgusting culture. Which comprises of that misogynistic thinking. In order to show unconditional love, you have to be human first
I don't think her friends failed her. I'm glad she had people in her life looking out for her, be it by giving her jam sandwiches, knowing they were such a luxury for her - or by giving her a shoulder to cry on, with nothing to gain from it. They were treating her like a person, even though they were no more powerful than her.
I’m only half way through and I can honestly say that this is one of the most horrible cases of child abuse I have heard in my entire life. It actually brought me to tears. To be abused to this extent at all is completely and categorically wrong but to have this happen to you because you happened to be born female…. The fact that she is still here, strong enough to talk to us all about it today is so remarkable.
“Normal” parents usually protect and care for their children, so what does this tell you about these parents and the religion they practice ? ! The word “demonic” comes to mind, certainly not “godly” ! However they will pay for the atrocity they have perpetrated on perpetrated on their own child. Shame on them !

If they were psychopaths they would not think of honor or shame. Truth is they all were healthy in this sense. Just too afraid of shame. They felt guilty, so tried to cover their asses at any cost. Children only fault is that they are, weaker in such families.women and children are to blame because they cant defend themselves. Being afraid is empathic trait, but its an egoism that turns this trait into raping and then killing your daughter.
@@Tetradepodmelonteain that case it makes them worse. if you are not born with apathy and still are that cruel and self serving, you’re a pretty abhorrent person. arguably, sociopaths/psychopaths DO still care about self image. psychopaths especially. that’s how they rise to the top. sociopaths are more likely not to care.

Her family should be in prison. Their faces shouldn’t be blurred, instead let the world see their faces and shame them for being vile and wicked people. If I was her I don’t think I could forgive them. She a gentle and good human being that deserves a great life.
As much as I agree with the sentiment, it may only agitate them more and drive them insane to the point that they would do literally anything to ensure her death. Those kinds of parents are so warped by the sense of maintaining their reputation and image among their peers and other family that being humiliated further would likely drive them to do some vile stuff. They care far more about their “honor” than being a loving parent to their children.
What hurts me most about this beautiful woman's story is that she is willing to relive it every time she retells it, and she does it solely for the benefit of others so that they may find hope and hopefully never experience this again. Respect for religion, culture, and personal beliefs goes 100% out the window in cases of child abuse and murder. I have zero respect or understanding for anyone who would do this to a child
I only respect that which is kind and loving. But I don't respect any part of a culture or religion just because it is. There has to be a reason for respect to be shown. I am a Buddhist. The Buddha said never take anything at face value, even the Buddha's teaching itself. You have to examine it yourself.
This is so horrific and heartbreaking to hear what this lady Nina has had to endure, and no one should ever have to experience this. I have read many of the comments from the various talks given around this traumatic and difficult story, (which hopefully will encourage and inspire others who may suffer in silence to share and speak up.) However,It's important not to have a judgmental perspective that gives the distorted and negative bias that this happens purely because of cultural patterns of behaviour and differences and is therefore a common phenomenon within . It is important to remember and point out that there are deeply loving Punjabi and Sikh families (parents of Nina’s era), including subsequent generations, who adore their daughters, treat them with the utmost love and respect, and nurture them in a safe and happy family environment. Let’s not vilify all Punjabi, Sikh, and Asian families under the label that it is cultural appropriation to treat their girls or daughters with hate, contempt, or abuse. I have five sisters, one of whom was adopted by my parents. We were so fortunate and truly blessed to have parents who adored each of us, treated us with nothing but love and respect, educated us, and allowed us to form our own paths and identities in life, despite the challenges they had to face, pleasing the extended family and sometimes wider community in the process. Sadly, so much of this has to do with individual parents mindsets, personal morals, and perhaps unacceptable behaviour patterns learned from their own past and personal experiences as opposed to cultural. Abuse, whether it's sexual, physical, or emotional It is not mutually exclusive to the Indian and Asian cultures; ill treatment of children happens in all parts of society.
Look, i know someone who is indian, lives there, children are starving on the streets, govnt does nothing, nor for the elderly, blind or poor lepers. my friend vomited into a clean diaper due to the filth and stench on a bus, afterwards she saw street kids eating the grapes out of her vomit. @@amibedi1231

She should get them arrested. Why forgive? That's not something to be forgiven even if it was part of the culture. Bringing them to justice will lead to a positive change and will be helpful to many others in the future. But I don't blame her if she doesn't want to fight on her own. Votebank. The Sikhs are quite a population and also influential in UK and some other countries. What goes on in their homes can be exactly opposite of what they show to the world. Even in India, in the north-western part, where the sikhs reside along with a few other communities, the attitude towards women is pathetic. Decades ago, it was a place where rampant female infanticide was practiced until the government had to ban the practice of the determination of sex of a child by punishing any medical practitioner who did so. The killings have come down substantially but the sex ratio is still skewed in that part. Also, the general attitude towards women is just not good. So, education is low in that area with a vast majority of sikhs involved in farming. women get married early. There's less focus on their studies, goes without saying. There's a lot of focus on their looks. Skin colour is very important. They are mostly seen as wives who have to bear children. after a woman becomes older, she gains influence in the family. i would like to point out that there are many sikhs who are very educated and the exact opposite. But the rural culture is what I've described.
Sikhs don’t do this…she could be someone paid to malign the culture and religion….real question why did she not go the police? Why has no one been charged or persecuted? The culture and community would have publicly shamed her family and disowned them….our community does not condone this type of stuff….her father would have committed suicide if she had gotten the community involved. Instead getting help from the community….she is just going around blaming an entire culture, community and religion….as if we know the going’s on in a dysfunctional family. That’s the only thing I can say….she belonged to a dysfunctional family and needed to get help…

The way the police responded to her saying "it was an attempted honour killing" and how the police would assume it was a suicide anytime they came across a bride-burning says everything you need to know. As a punjabi, this is horrifying to hear and I feel ashamed that our culture allows this kind of evil to exist. Unfortunately this is one of many stories of women I’ve heard over the years who have been through similar horrors and a lot of them do not make it out alive. How one inflicts that kind of pain on their own flesh and blood is beyond me. Gender-based discrimination and voilence is a huge problem in my culture, but it doesn’t get the attention it needs and the system fails these women over and over again. I applaud her for having the courage to speak out about what she went through, it has shaken me to my core and I cannot stop crying. We need to do better to protect our girls and women. This is not okay, nobody should have to deal with this kind of pain and trauma.
I agree. I'm Punjabi SIkh from Vancouver, Canada, and let me tell you, I'm truly disgusted by our community. Even if families don't do to their daughters to the magnitude that this woman's family did to her, but a majority of the community stays silent on the issue, and they too are part of the problem, because they feel disappointed at the birth of a girl child, think girls should act, dress a certain way, do what they are told, and so in my eyes, most people are part of the problem, that gives rise to shit families like this, who have the audacity to do what they did. This so called friend of this woman's who gave her the advice to go back home was so wrong. Why would you want to go back to a place where your father and all his friends raped you. I thought my family was bad, my parents are just plain toxic in terms of mental and emotional abuse, but I endured nothing like this to this magnitude, actually I had it much better after I got married and moved to the United States, and after I left one night my dad almost ended up killing my sister because she had to work late, and he thought she was out slutting around, and my parents the next day said, oh it was nothing. Like fuck this shit. I wish I could have 5 minutes with this piece of shit father and her brothers, and still them in a room with big military guys and lets see how fucking tough they are then. I've heard so many stories like this, it's disgusting. Glad I distanced and disassociated myself the the community.
I cried throughout the video too. It’s beyond heartbreaking how your own family can break your spirit like this. Except for the rape and breaking of bones, I suffered a lot like this woman by my family. My mother was the same kind of angry abusive lunatic. And my dad a violent drunk. My school removed me from home when I was 17 and they always told me the same thing, “so many women don’t make it out alive.” I consider myself lucky. But the emotional pain this experience leaves you with is unlike any other. My only two options in life were 1. Live without a family and be completely on your own. 2. Be seriously abused by your parents and brother because you’re a girl. I chose the first one. This is the first time I’ve heard a story that’s much much worse than mine. And mine is pretty evil.
I'm shocked beyond belief. To think that this had happened and continue to happen is something I find reprehensible. I will only advise that she cuts all connections with all those who made her suffer. She should live her life and face everything with the courage, confidence and determination that is needed. I salute her for speaking out. I am surprised that a country like England would not take cognizance of such behavior in a community.
Today was the first time in 15 years that I've cried. This woman is the bravest woman I have ever seen. Surely the school or her friends should have noticed sooner?
It's striking how soft and sensitive she is considering the evil cruelty she endured. She managed to retain her beautiful soul and her humanity and not let those horrible people turn her into one of them.
Most women that go through things like that are softer and more sweet. That's why it often happens to them repeatedly. Like, people who were physically and sexually abused as children end up experiencing the same as adults because abusers can spot them from a mile away. They're passive and softer and don't see red flags. It's hard to break the cycle.

@@elifnazsinav312 well then why the hell did they move to the UK? Don’t tell me. I know exactly why. They want the safe and prosperous society that reasonable people are capable of architecting, but don’t want to let go of the very practices that ruined their own. Absolute hypocrites. I hope they’re citizens, because, if not, they should be deported to the country and culture they see as so very superior. It is also an offence to all those immigrants who retain the beauty of their culture, whilst still respecting and embracing the one that welcomed them. And are useful and loved additions, instead of barnacles like this poor woman’s family. I am an immigrant. I can say this without any malice toward most of us. I know what culture adjustment is like, and I know it’s natural to balk against some unexpected realities you face in your host country. But this? Absolutely unacceptable.
It's crazy that her brother admitted to a police officer that he had ATTEMPTED MURDER but they said they would let him off if he apologised?? What??? I cannot imagine how strong she must be for dealing with all this abuse her whole life.
Likely the legal system just freezes up since this is a 'cultural' issue. They don't know how to handle it and these in-groups can be very secretive and uncooperative so the police just turn a blind eye. They're likely already just pretty racist and don't care much for these people and at the same time they don't want to rile up these communities. So nothing gets done. Tale as old as time.
I've just somehow stumbled upon this video. And genuinely in my life, have I never wanted to give a random stranger a hug so much. What a truly incredible woman she is to be able to have the mental fortitude to live her life having experienced what she did for so long. Inspirational lady!
As a nurse, it pained me to the core to hear her say that she was ignored even by one of us. How I wish I could have been there to hug and comfort her. I’m so sorry you were let down even by us Nina. Truly am.
To think people have been conditioned to be so petrified of being labelled a 'racist' we're willing to turn a complete blind eye to an inhumane situation...is it worth it?
This is what I don’t get. Isn’t her mother a female of their culture? Aren’t females needed for marriage and children. They had already had two sons so…it’s all so illogical. One can’t blame culture or tradition, they are just evil, evil using culture and tradition as an excuse to enjoy perpetuating violence against those less powerful.
The fact that she was beaten at school in addition to all her horrors at home just makes me furious. As if being raped at home wasnt enough being beaten for the simple fact of not being white at school is disgusting. Her family failed her, the UK failed her, the school, teachers and stidents failed her. Its disgusting
It sort of confuses me how you're more outraged by ignorant children bullying her than her own family beating and raping her. They're just not even in the same league.
Nina, you are the strongest human I've ever known. With everything the people that were supposed to love you and protect you did to you, you came out stronger and determined to help others. May the Lord bless you, keep you and give you peace. You are my hero!⭐👏
This broke my heart into many pieces. I'm an Indian woman from Sikh background who also ran away at 15 to escape regular beatings. I am so sorry for what you went through. May the Lord bless you and continue to heal you. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. I know you will be happy in your life. God bless you ❤
I am truly pained by what you went through. I’m also aware that survivors are apt to find silver linings from all they endured. So I’m sorry to say that research has shown that developmental trauma is *only* detrimental ...which means that such harm absolutely *does not* make you stronger. This type of abuse permanently compromises your emotional well-being. The emotional (and in this case physical) scars last a lifetime. As I said, I know that victims want to believe that something good came out of the horrific experiences they lived through. Yet it’s not beneficial to perpetuate erroneous beliefs - especially ones which minimize the magnitude of the damage of this kind of abuse.
@@jenniferlynn3537I for me can certainly say, what didn't kill me made me really stronger (different things than in the vid, but anyway). I guess it's individually.

@@Paul94096i think the thing is Ted Bundy was a lone ranger…… and he clearly had mental issues…. This is an entire family!! Living life ‘normal’ and thinking this behaviour is ok. It is sickening to get your head around isn’t it!
There is no point of that honor killing. Those families had no honor to protect. The truth of the matter is that they didn't want their secrets getting out.
There are worse stories that are just as common as this one. In the Asian and African worlds, many parts of their cultures still allow this kind of abuse. I worked with women who had their genitals cut when they were 12 or so, the reasoning is they will remain virgins and respect their husbands because they can't feel sexual feelings. This woman's family is everywhere. Many people who practice as she reports live in Europe, especially England, and here in western US. Women are still burned to death, and in Saudi Arabia, stoned (I've been to the stoning circle) to death.
She needed love. Let's shower her with love. YOU ARE LOVED, RESPECTED BY ALL OF US. SENDING YOU LOVE, COURAGE, BLESSINGS MY DEAR SISTER. JUST LOOOOOOOVE YOU. ❤❤❤❤❤
I'm an Indian and I don't think you are bringing any undeserved disrepute to Indians or Sikhs or any group of persons. This is the truth and you've tolerated and faced the worse kind of abuse. And others should be able tolerate the truth. It's a common practice to abuse women and shout them down when they speak up. Women are blamed for bringing disrepute to the country or religion or community. It is not our job to keep this facade of reputation intact. Those who did that to you will carry the shame and I hope people here shame them plenty. Pretending to be civilized when they are far from it.

Seriously, I’m sitting here crying and I’m just listening to her. The world truly can be such a dark place. I just don’t understand how anybody could do this to a child. Children are some of the brightest lights in this world, why are some adults so intent on snuffing it out. Do they not remember what it was like to be a child? To feel not listened too? To be abused and not be able to fight back?
I can't believe the British Government is not charging these perpetrators with attempted murder, rape, child abuse, kidnapping, torture and whatever else these crimes would fall under. Police should be making arrests. My heart goes out to this lady who have lived through years of unimaginable crimes. I have decided to no longer frequent businesses owned by the men from this culture. I never knew this think went on with this culture and I'm appalled that it does.
Its not the culture, its about individual. Their are bad people in all culture. Dont corrupt your narrative about this culture. Punjabis in India are the most beloving parents.
I genuinely burst into tears as she continued on with her story. It surprises me just how calm and polite she is all throughout the interview. She truly deserves all the love in the world. ❤
That is so true! If we see someone who isn't very pleasant or is shy or acts in any number of ways that we think are strange of even criminal, we have to have some compassion for what led them to being like this. It seems that abuse is happening behind doors in every street up and down the country and often the very people who perpetuate the abuse act like normal human beings on the outside but beneath it all they are sadistic lunatics. However again we have to at least try to understand how that person became like they are no matter how horrid, as often they were programmed at a young age to be like that are
Back in 2018, there was a "dad" and a daughter who came in to the optometrists office where I worked. He had cold eyes, and they were dark, not the color, but creepy, like there was a shadow over them. The way he talked was monotonous and emotionless. He had a necklace with an occultist symbol on it. I remember looking at the daughter and she had these big scared eyes that looked like "help me." I still think about her and sometimes I cry about it. Because I know that something was wrong there.
Bless that taxi driver for helping her and staying with her. I could feel her pain when she was telling her story. The first time she felt loved was in an abortion clinic after she had been gang raped. How awful. I really want to give this woman a hug
I'm a man from Sri Lanka, very similar culture to India and the Punjabis. I've never ever heard such a horrific story like this in my life. I'm in tears hearing her story. Monsters exist everywhere. I’m only 13 mins in but imagine experiencing kindness for the first time in your young 15 yr life from a nurse whilst having an abortion derived from rape? Brave beautiful lady.
Too bad the practitioner covered up the crime with the abortion. Think about how her life could have changed in that moment if the police were called? DNA taken and responsible parties brought to justice? Think about this barbaric culture sitting in your town? Little girls like Nina being abused and raped and it all goes unnoticed because the local abortion clinic covers it up with the nice lady stroking your hair and being "kind" to you while they get rid of the evidence. Sorry this story upset me to my core. I am sure there are so many more like her in our society.
GOOD for you! What you are experiencing there is what USED to be known as 'Noble Anger' - something the World needs MUCH more of these days - as opposed to its ugly sister - Pointless Anger.
What a brave woman Nina is. I'm horrified listening to her story. Her parents; her brothers; her in-laws have absolutely no honour. They are shameful wastes of oxygen.
Jail!! Extradition.... im portuguese! I lived 7 yeras in london... and 2 years a a sik house they was cool.. police should go after her family... her voice is very important... for teachers and people from outside looking after clues on young girls...
Yet, she never pressed charges. They were never brought to justice. They and their culture will continue to perpetuate this. Because they were never punished.
As a Middle Eastern I’m so sorry you had to go through this💔 I’m so proud you were able to get out of that house and escape this horror So many girls weren’t as brave as yourself and lost their lives because they felt like they couldn’t escape🥺 I’m so happy you were able to leave your family❤️❤️
This is horrific. None of it should have happened. I also wonder: if this group values women so little that they will kill baby girls or treat them like garbage, who do they expect to marry their precious sons?

This is why I feel it’s so important to discuss abuse of all kinds in school. Because for so many children, they don’t even realize that what is happening to them is wrong and unacceptable. I wish I could hug this woman.
Sadly very little can be done by teachers. The abused kiddos go home and to their abusers. Even when child protective services are involved, the abuse continues. Just what happened to poor Gabriel Fernandez. 💔
When she referred to her dog as a “ she as a person” my heart sank! She saw this dog as an ANGEL . I cried and felt her pain! God bless her soul and heart.
Obviously the Pooch knew that this girl was in pain & suffering. The dear pooch had way more empathy towards her, than this monster human family. This lady had undergone enough sufferings through the hands of her own family & it's painful even to watch. However, does anyone know that in India, if the Husband dies ' first' before the wife, so the wife also should die when the day comes to cremate the husband's body? It was said that the relatives will gather & throw the wife into her husband's funeral fire. I wonder what type of monster people have come up with such heinous crimes.
This level of torture could kill someone or mentally damage in an irreversible way... The way she is still standing and sane...Hats off to you sister... May nobody face such hell on earth...
I’m so disgusted and angry. Not only was this poor, kind woman unloved and abused by her own family, but she then went on to be failed miserably by EVERY institution that should have helped her. Her teachers who ignored her bruises? Her friends’ parents who didn’t care that she was underfed? Her pediatrician that didn’t report the obvious abuse? The cop who didn’t arrest anyone? The doctors who didn’t file a report? The nurses who didn’t offer her counseling? I’m really embarrassed that all this happened in the UK.
Of course in typical UK fashion you will blame yourself, the cops, the system, the teacher, the neighborhood dog, anybody but the vile punjabis who did this. . Commendable virtue signaling. But that's the reason why this will never stop. Because you don't blame the right people - the vile disgusting pigs who do this to their own daughters. The vile culture that makes a mom act as enabler to her 14 year old daughter's gang rape by her husband's friends. Sorry, your virtue signalling doesn't help stop this filth. It's important that the large Punjabi diaspora is clearly told these vile practices allowed in their culture will not be tolerated in the UK. You keep with your self flagellation and you'll only see more girls suffer like Nina.
Sadly for whatever reason the U.K. Police and adjacent services are very averse to pursuing and investigateing and documenting cases of honor killings, attempted honor killings and this kind of "cultural" abuse which 99.9% of the time happens to women and girls and frankly it is disgusting. The change however has to start from those around us as well, this poor woman passed through an entire education system, into the job market with clear and evident sings that something was not right. I'm all for the "don't stick your nose into other people's business" but when you see someone who is suffering, even if they don't outwardly show it you can tell (hell a dog could tell) and you don't at least try to say anything you're an accessory to whatever happens next to that person.
As a mum I just cannot imagine being your child’s bully and wanting to hurt them let alone for making eye contact and then all the horror that poor lady went through. So horrific, how can anyone do these things to a child is beyond me.

Cultural Norms are everywhere and influence what people may believe is acceptable behavior.. 100 years from now, I'm sure people would view US as cruel in certain areas as well..
I'm almost half a century old and this might be the most horrific account of child abuse I've ever heard. And I haven't even made it to her describing the attempted honor killing yet. I can't watch any more right now. This woman's strength in surviving this stuff and having the courage to talk about it is mind-boggling.
The thing is most women who experience this kind of abuse don't survive it to talk about it. Between honor killings, suicide, or death by accident in the beatings- its so rare to see someone survive and flourish. This kind of abusive is not uncommon in some middle eastern/asian cultures.

its crazy how at times, our own pets are more humane and kind than humans themselves, and they're often the ones that understand us better. Ironic how the most animalistic and vile of beings came from her family, and that the one that expressed kindness was the dog.
I'm listening to her story and wishing how that dog would just have had more than enough with that family and that the dog would just one day turn on all of them and attack them then leave.
This is how you know abuse can't be used as an excuse for being a bad person. This woman is respectable and brave. I wish her the best in the rest of her life.

I proved to them I could handle walking their large dogs and eventually it became expected that I'd
be taking their dog for walks every day.
We had the best moments of my life. We'd sit together, we'd go to abandoned buildings, eat lunch together by the creek,
and they let you love on them as much as you want to.
Now, decades later I try to get to know my mother in her older age, and we pretend to like each other more than we do, but I lost
trust and feeling for her that I will never get back no matter how hard I try.
Please if you have kids who are dedicated to taking care of things, and ONLY if you trust that they will give the utmost care to a pet, get them a rescue dog from a shelter or a dog rescue.
If there is screaming and constant strife in the house though, please please don;t do it because it is painful for animals to live
in domesticated, loud and stressful households and more than any creatures on earth; they deserve nothing but good because they are pure, and are angels.
God Bless.

This has absolutely nothing to do with religion but more so cultural this is very common in their culture.

I hope you know you are with so much more, you deserve love, you deserve respect ❤
Bad parents..!
Only 1.6 billion to go..
This show you have a choice to break the cycle and you can come out stronger than ever.
I've listened to her before powerful speaker,..what really gets me angry is knowing that millions of girls are going through exactly what she is and it's somehow been normalised by a society because a bat sh!t crazy religious belief system that treats women/girls,like personal property,I cannot for the life of me,understand why we do trade with countrys like this,..I hear the argument that we can show them another side to life by trading with them, but i feel we are giving them legitimacy in their eyes,.I think that's the wrong approach,..Ending apartheid only worked because the whole world stood firm against an idea that divided people by race and once everybody was on border with that process of not working with that government in anyway,..it fell, they could no longer justify their political decision of government or feel thst they were somehow being accepted in anyway whatsoever,...invading country's and trying to impose our standards of humanity might seem the right way to go but these peoole still have their pride and ot must come from within and be forced into thst way of thinking as the world turns its back on them,...all we do is get country's to double down on their backward ideology and they have the money to do this, thanks to the trade we still do with them...country's I would not do business with..
Saudi Arabia
Pakistan,
China
Qatar
Iran
Would be a good way to start and thst eould put other country's on notice obviously it would work better one country at a time and I would start with Pakistan..
There hatred towards Christians in Pakistan is horrendous and without trade they would collapse within months,we would demand fundermental changes gender equality, religious freedom, property rights protection,a new consitution and they would be helped financially with infrastructure projects and increased trade.....it could work but do we have the will...?

The fact that she was beaten at school in addition to all her horrors at home just makes me furious. Honestly.

Women are blamed for bringing disrepute to the country or religion or community. It is not our job to keep this facade of reputation intact. Those who did that to you will carry the shame and I hope people here shame them plenty. Pretending to be civilized when they are far from it.

@@nataliamunatay4710this is normal in India I heard
She is so eloquent in her speaking, the way she describes her torture and how her family treated her is so incredibly difficult to listen to. What a strong lady.
This person described disgusting, unspeakable torture - and you comment upon her “strength” and “eloquence”?!! Damn... you’re pretty messed up.

@@j.h.miretskay3430 What?
Absolutely awful!
@@j.h.miretskay3430I think she’s referring to Nina’s ability to recount her rape so earnestly and with so much detail, because that, in fact, does take a lot of courage and strength. It is not something ever victim/survivor is able to do. She does not mean any disrespect by her comment.
Every time I think my parents are bad, which they are, I always am thankful that I’ve never had to go through anything to this degree. I feel awful for this poor woman. Even now that she knows that all she went through was wrong, there are certain things you can never unlearn. I hope she feels okay someday.
The fact that this women's 'family' lives their lifes unbothered and free makes me lose the rests of faith I had in people. And the police... how you can feel safe when they know what happened and done nothing... absolutely disgusting. I feel so sorry for her
i know. how are they not....oh the things i wish upon them....i can't understand...
Makes you loose??
I know, like so many monsters and criminals do whatever they want with impunity.
@Julmaa87 my sincere apologies for this appalling mistake of putting 'oo' instead of 'o'.
Please forgive me bearing in mind that English is my second language.
On the other hand... Next time before you try to correct miniscule mistake make sure you can speak ANY OTHER LANGUAGE THAN ENGLISH on the same level I speak English you sad little grammar nazi...
This is one of the worst horrific life story I've ever heard. This lovely woman is such an articulate, soft spoken and incredibly strong. She's not human, she's truly an angel and deserves all the love and protection in the world. The horrid life she's had from birth makes you realize how your minute problems are meaningless and how we should be more grateful for being given a normal life
Amen, well said, I agree.
She IS human. This is humanity at its worst and best. Her whole life she was treated as less than human. Strong people are strong because they have to be. She is a testament of HUMAN perseverance.
Well said!
Her family thought she was carrying evil in her, but the goodness she was carrying is what kept her alive, and they were the evil ones.
I’m sobbing just hearing this from the beginning. What a beautiful lady she became. I pray she will have peace all of her days
I think this is the single bravest person I have ever heard of. To go through a lifetime of unspeakable events and to still find the courage to speak up is just beyond me.
So brave! /s
@@thefumblebee I’m in the UK and I’m absolutely shocked this has happened here I’m so sad and I wish there was something I could do to help.
I have a few names to add starting with Michelle Knight
@@NF40375 yes very brave lady
I can’t believe she remained sane after the troubles she went through. I would have lost my sanity if I were in her situation.
Never. Those monsters don’t get to claim ownership over her sanity. I am astounded at her ability to recover from and recount her experience. Please remember that no matter how badly someone may mistreat you, once you are out you will NEVER give them the satisfaction of destroying you… they will turn to dust and burn in hell. She still has HER life to make her own ❤
No ,God protect her reason ,her soul ,her very essence can never be destroyed
Same. I would go on a spree on that house, before I got saved.
@@Србомбоница86AMEN
She might not have been the entire time.
May all the men and women who treated her badly rot in hell
Yes, amen to this! ✊
