      Henry is the best because he always tells a story. For those of you, who understand German or are satisfied by reading English subtitles: Daniel Hohmeyer of Motor1 and Tim Schrick also tell you a lot about a car besides the specs.

      Honestly, it's a weird design. It's basically the Volvo X60 (which is why it still has a transmission tunnel), with a few flourishes to it, more striking lines to the body, frame-less mirrors etc. In a way, it kind of... Boring is not the word, neither is average or pedestrian, but I bet you those terms will come up a lot in describing the design of the Polestar 2 for lack of a better vocabulary.
      It a striking look, but nothing really stands out... It just has this draw to it, but it very conventional about it. Luxury cars do this a lot, but it's weird with a BEV since BEV's tend to try to stand out.

      Seems to me Apple CarPlay is redundant thanks to the Android Automotive. I have an iPhone but don't even bother with Apple CarPlay in current ICE, as the default infotainment is acceptable enough alongside Bluetooth audio. Never mind what this Polestar 2 infotainment will be able to do 😛

    • @r87961
      @r87961 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Antonio Zamudio my previous e-Golf also had live traffic in the infotainment and Waze didn't work in CarPlay at that time.
      Currently while driving I have the phone mounted, active and connected through Bluetooth with Waze, Flitsmeister and Spotify. But you make a fair point, I guess I can give CarPlay another try.
      I do still think that CarPlay is going to be redundant with the Android Automotive in the Polestar 2 😉 as long as they keep updating it

      That's super cool! As minor a detail a wing mirror is, I really dig the frameless look. I had the fortune to try out cameras and I actually really didn't like them. Yeah they show you exactly what a mirror would, but they're a separate focal distance and a separate image, while the mirror is part of the whole periphery. So this design is really ideal imo

      @@Oystein87 well, the camera mirrors of the Honda E work really good with rain. They're water repellant, which was funny as the video feed was clear, while you barely saw anything through the windows. So I guess there's up and downsides.

    The portrait screen orientation is a better layout and I have been saying this for a while for exactly the reasons stated. Better map display in the direction of your driving. Other manufacturers have increasingly wider screens, but becoming narrower in the process as well - think Hyundai, Kia, Lexus, BMW etc.

    brilliant video Henry, this is by far the best video not the Polestar 2 on the internet, i have owned driven Volvos for 40 yrs and with the Polestar 2 on the market i just have to wait for it to come to Canada which i believe will be in 2021/2022 46000 Sterling so in Canadian money $80,000 plus tax and i know i can get good service unlike Tesla, when you spoke of the charging network that is something in Canada that needs very serious addressing there is only 5004 charging stations on the Canada wide network, 4900 are fast charging stations , being the 2nd biggest country in the we definitely have our work cut out for us and our government needs to get one board with EV industry and get some decent incentives/rebates in place, this will definitely tear holes in Tesla sales, I love it, the best review channel on TH-cam 👍

      @ZesPak 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I really don't like the alternative. My parents had an early '00s e class and that was just a buttons mess. Cars these days have so many options and a flexible layout is the best way to approach this.
      Henry here points out the obvious, some have tried and failed but Google knows this stuff. To me the Tesla system works very well as well but this looks like another step up.
      I think it's a VERY clever move by Polestar to have Google handle that stuff. So many manufactures get it so wrong.

Cover the cheap plastic interior with some cheap leather, or some other material, and get the body panel gaps even, and people will climax in their shorts over the so-called "build quality" of the thing.

    I'd still go for the Model 3:
    * looks are in the eye of the beholder, but I think the Model 3 is better looking;
    * the interior of the Model 3 is better looking (again, looks);
    * the screen actually works very, very, very well... People complaining about its ergonomics really haven't used one for long enough to realise it:
    * no, it's not badly built as many people point out; I am 99+% sure that these people didn't even get into one... So just do that. You'll see.
    * it is more efficient, it charges faster;
    * the charging network is not fussy.
    It's even nearly 200 kg lighter than the Polestar 2...

    Great review. However you don't get more range using stronger regen - the most efficient way to drive is to turn it off and use coasting. The first part of brake travel will regenerate if you need to, but if you're aiming for efficiency, it's better to conserve the momentum you've gained.

    • @wiryantirta
      @wiryantirta 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      the pedal is just a human interface. If you want to coast while having regen on then apply the pedal just enough so you're telling the car you don't want to slow down but you don't want to accelerate. You do have to get used to the way you hold your foot so you're not jerking back and forth between acceleration and regen like he mentioned in the video. I used to have it off, but overtime I find that regen braking set to low somewhat mimics engine braking on ICE cars and is actually quite nice to have. Especially if you're the more lively driver type.
