I really don't like the alternative. My parents had an early '00s e class and that was just a buttons mess. Cars these days have so many options and a flexible layout is the best way to approach this. Henry here points out the obvious, some have tried and failed but Google knows this stuff. To me the Tesla system works very well as well but this looks like another step up. I think it's a VERY clever move by Polestar to have Google handle that stuff. So many manufactures get it so wrong.
Apple makes iPhone in China because it requires the combination of high tech and high precision. China has the capability to make everything from horrible crap to the equal finest machining in the world. It's just manufacturer choices in the process.
@O K and it still isn't. american products made in china are held to a higher standard, but the dogshit that comes out of china is still trash. volvos saving grace is that it was once not chinese
When it comes to cars, people tend to have extremely superficial methods for judging quality. Cover the cheap plastic interior with some cheap leather, or some other material, and get the body panel gaps even, and people will climax in their shorts over the so-called "build quality" of the thing.
That is one beautiful looking car. I think you hit the nail on the head, simple, but ELEGANT. Very elegant. Stunning actually. Love the yellow seatbelts against that gray interior too. That's a nice touch. I'd love to make the jump from gas to electric in that car! That car is truly CARFECTION!
I'd still go for the Model 3: * looks are in the eye of the beholder, but I think the Model 3 is better looking; * the interior of the Model 3 is better looking (again, looks); * the screen actually works very, very, very well... People complaining about its ergonomics really haven't used one for long enough to realise it: * no, it's not badly built as many people point out; I am 99+% sure that these people didn't even get into one... So just do that. You'll see. * it is more efficient, it charges faster; * the charging network is not fussy. It's even nearly 200 kg lighter than the Polestar 2...

Just ordered a complete base one 😊👍 Couldn't justify the long range (don't really need it), and definitely don't need the extra punch of the big engine in the city. The base car is a lot of car for the money 👍 I bet the Model 3 is more fun but it's more expensive and I have a Volvo C30 with a manual so I will keep Polestar 2 + C30 instead of only a Model 3 😊
Nice video and review! Although I am a bit surprised you as a petrolhead are so into the one-pedal drive. To me it's one control for one action: acceleration/braking/steering etc. Luckily it turns off, so I can enjoy the car too!
I´ve just ordered my polestar to and have a google home-thing, would be cool if you could ask it inside how much battery there is on the car, and if it could warm up the car before we go
Great review. However you don't get more range using stronger regen - the most efficient way to drive is to turn it off and use coasting. The first part of brake travel will regenerate if you need to, but if you're aiming for efficiency, it's better to conserve the momentum you've gained.
the pedal is just a human interface. If you want to coast while having regen on then apply the pedal just enough so you're telling the car you don't want to slow down but you don't want to accelerate. You do have to get used to the way you hold your foot so you're not jerking back and forth between acceleration and regen like he mentioned in the video. I used to have it off, but overtime I find that regen braking set to low somewhat mimics engine braking on ICE cars and is actually quite nice to have. Especially if you're the more lively driver type.

I don't like the tablet instead of knobs and buttons, but they're hardly the first ones to try it. The mirros are a slick detail
Henry throwing in Oasis puns, im liking this channel more and more
Give me an Estate version!!
VW ID Space, if they actually deliver on their sketchy promises.
Now you are talking.
The ID Space looks amazing but I am expecting more ePassat when it comes to market.
Then it'll probably look more like an SUV with how tall it is
@@Neojhun VW is a joke, the ID3 is an overpriced pile of junk. Hard plastic everywhere, drum brakes (are we in the 60s?).
V60 T8 Pure !
Nice move from Polestar bringing back some physical buttons for the important controls.
I can't get over the fact that this Volvo made in China has a better build quality than the shiny new Teslas coming out of factories in the US.
Apple makes iPhone in China because it requires the combination of high tech and high precision. China has the capability to make everything from horrible crap to the equal finest machining in the world. It's just manufacturer choices in the process.
@O K and it still isn't. american products made in china are held to a higher standard, but the dogshit that comes out of china is still trash. volvos saving grace is that it was once not chinese
cant match the Quality of Tesla coming out of GF3 China, BERLIN is coming online next year.
When it comes to cars, people tend to have extremely superficial methods for judging quality. Cover the cheap plastic interior with some cheap leather, or some other material, and get the body panel gaps even, and people will climax in their shorts over the so-called "build quality" of the thing.
@@Mike.W.Dasher quality is relative. there are quality cars for 15k and quality cars for 150k.
I'd still go for the Model 3:
* looks are in the eye of the beholder, but I think the Model 3 is better looking;
* the interior of the Model 3 is better looking (again, looks);
* the screen actually works very, very, very well... People complaining about its ergonomics really haven't used one for long enough to realise it:
* no, it's not badly built as many people point out; I am 99+% sure that these people didn't even get into one... So just do that. You'll see.
* it is more efficient, it charges faster;
* the charging network is not fussy.
It's even nearly 200 kg lighter than the Polestar 2...
Much better looking than the Tesla and probably better build and quality. 👍
the interior of this is nicer, but the exterior still doesn't beat teslas despite it being an old design now.
Great to see a review of the car in Midnight colour, many thanks! ❤
I just love the design of volvos nowadays
Excellent stuff. Thank you.
Great review as always Henry. Remember in the 80s when there was 'handling by Lotus', maybe time for Polestar to give them a call?
Great review and video, as usual for you Henry! Awaiting a decent Polestar 2 review and we should have come straight to you in the first place........Carfection and Jodie Kidd are the “go to” car videos at the moment plus Savage Geese are well worth a look too. Thank you Henry...."?!
I can see that Polestar have been rummaging in the same Geeley parts bin as LEVC who make the TX Electric Taxi, VN5 Electric Van and TX Electric Shuttle. I do hope that Polestars reliability and quality proves better than LVEC’s.
Another epic video, thank you.are you on Strava Henry?
I’m so excited for this to come to the US! Awesome video as always!
Thanks for a very interesting review. Really like the photography and the interesting journalist :
I love his videos! They are not pretentious and presented simply for the common man like myself. Is this a great car? Yes. Thank You!
This car looks sick! Looks like there's a new rival to my Model 3!
I love how people say the car runs on electricity, like it is magic. Batteries. Batteries make the electricity.
Roy Batty Batteries store the electricity.
Y'all made my brain hurt. Thanks
Fantastic video 👏
Nice video and review! Although I am a bit surprised you as a petrolhead are so into the one-pedal drive. To me it's one control for one action: acceleration/braking/steering etc. Luckily it turns off, so I can enjoy the car too!
Mmmmm the badge..mmmmm Citroën badge just pointing together..
Nnnnaaaaaaaa ..epic quality video as ever keep up the good work..👍
I never thought I would fall in love with an electric car
I´ve just ordered my polestar to and have a google home-thing, would be cool if you could ask it inside how much battery there is on the car, and if it could warm up the car before we go
2:20 nice 🌝
Lucky you, it's very rare that chargepoint in Olney isn't blocked by an IC car.
You hit the nail on the head - it’s a perfect daily, I’d love one but i want something multicylinder or elise like for the weekend thanks...
i think thats optimal. Electric car will save exotics for the weekend.
Another great video from Henry.
