I drove the Polestar 2 before and was not especially impressed. Here i live with a Polestar a little more. It’s had a big software update to improve range and performance plus other tweaks. This model is NOT fitted with the Performance Pack. Will it be better for it?

As a Swede, the model 3's interior is not Scandinavian. It is plain and cheap. The polestar is a Scandinavian design even though it is not obvious at first. Clean lines, everything that is necessary is there and everything that is un necessary is not present in the interior. Ive been in the volvo xc40 which has a similar interior and the space in that was enough. The tesla's centre console is not that clean actually as it is a crash between different non-matching materials.
On a different note, the reason the handels are the way they are is because it prevents them from freezing in cold Scandinavian climates, the tesla handels are know to free in winter here in sweden

My view - the Tesla wins on efficiency and the charging network. The Polestar wins as a car; it’s quieter on NVH, has a driver display and feels better built.
If you don’t drive 200+ daily miles and/or don’t need the Supercharger network, then it’s hard to recommend the Tesla.

7:20 As far as I know, the exterior mirrors on the Tesla isn't dimmed by a sensor, it's just dimmed by the date and time of day and location (the car simply calculates the ambient light level based on that, and then dims the mirrors). Both brilliant cars, both look smart, prefer the driver display and cabin in the Polestar, but the Tesla is more technologically advanced and has a better range, also the Supercharger network is sort of a clincher for me. I'm just not interested in having a motorised boot or motorised anything, or any of the self driving electronics, just adds complexity, extra cost and reduces reliability. My Vaxhall Ampera has electronic door unlock buttons, 3 out of the 4 have broken, they are £200 ea to fix, I've never ever had a problem unlocking doors on any other car I've owned, I'm thinking since EV's are so reliable and last so long manufacturers are adding things that will break and cost a fortune to fix to maintain their income.

Menu is a pain to use it. Volvo/assuming polestar have the same way to turn it on os miles better, still via screen but tap drivers heated seat to being up either wheel or seat.

The problem with the two cars occurs when you compare their prices (Norway). Polestar 4WD has 455 km of range and costs the same as a M3 4WD with 612 km range. Both cars are fairly similarly equipped, so it all comes down to practical things like range and space. I’ve tested the newest Model 3 for several days, and only got to test the Polestar for a few hrs. Following were drawbacks for me:
    - Polestar has about 100 km less range for same price.
    - Polestar is very crammed, and essentially losing a seat in the rear due to the transmission tunnel isn’t a positive.
They’re both brilliant in their own way, but this tipped the scales for me.

The Polestar wins for me with the hatchback form and think the infotainment interface is better designed (though the Model 3 is really excellent). I also think it looks better and i prefer the Polestar seats. In the end though the range and charging network of the Tesla tipped the balance cos driving round europe in a Tesla is just a lot less stressful than in any other EV. So we bought the Model 3.
I also think the Performance Pack on the Polestar is a step backward. The standard version is definitely more comfortable.

I'm a tesla shareholder and first choice would be a Sr model 3 to fit my budget. Tesla gave me a generous offer for my leaf so I was ready to trade up but insurance ost 3 grand to add the mrs!
Since test drove a polestar and it's a superb alternative. Insurance is only a couple of hundred more a yr than my leaf for the lower range model (more than enough) with pilot and plus pack added.
Its also a bit more affordable than a 3.* tesla pcp has a min of 10k miles a year and I don't even do 6k so am spending extra money. Sure I will get it back at the end of the pcp but better in my pocket. Latest offers trading in my leaf and the optioned polestar comes in at around £450 per month, tesla now £550 after the price hike.
My opinion is try them both, throw in another ev to compare and make your decision. From my experience tech and kit wise polestar is one of the few that come close unless you spend stupid money on high end alternatives.
*configurator is being updated this coming week so prices and spec may change.

The score should have been 8.5 polestar to 1 on the tesla because everything he said that was "standard" is still more expensive on the tesla? Just because it's on package in a polestar doesn't mean the point automatically goes to the tesla? What kind of logic is that?
The existence of the gauge cluster and everything that provides should be at least 3 points but for sake of argument we'll say it's 1.

@@lewisjenkins8238 I know this comment is a bit old, but I’ve been in both vehicles and it’s obvious that the PS2 has far less interior space because it’s not a dedicated EV platform. The transmission tunnel is a big problem but so is the weight and the unnecessary length at the front robbing cabin space. That’s fine, it’s still a very nice vehicle and IMO, a little more practical than the Model 3 with the hatchback. The biggest priblem is the cost with the 2 necessary (IMO) option packs compared to the newest SR+ which goes further on a smaller battery. That makes it harder to justify. My only other gripe is the boring paint. It’s grey or dark grey or silvery grey or greyish gold. OK, I’m exaggerating but it’s just a very “corporate” look. There’s no sporty red or metallic deep blue. So even though I like the looks, I wish they’d been more daring in that department. Its a pity, i have to pick the Model 3 for efficiency and charging infrastructure. HOWEVER there is plenty to link in the Polestar. The hatch is winner, I still have no idea why Tesla couldn't have done somthing to make it a hatch. The screen on the Tesla is great, but I'd definately flip it vertical, and make it simmilar sized to the Polestar and add a small screen behind the steering wheel (ala mach-E). Please add a volume and climate temp knobs to the Tesla. I'd also add back a wiper stalk in the Tesla. Agreed that the door handles really do suck on Tesla. No cloth seat option in the Tesla does my head in, along with almost no option to customise any aspect of the interior except for white. Both cars should have the option of adaptive suspension. The Polestar ride height will suit a lot of people. The frameless doors are not a favourite of mine, the just don't feel substantial. Both cars should have an estate/wagon option. The back seat legroom in the Tesla is joke also, PULL out the batteries from that area of the pack and make them fit somewhere else, under the front and rear seats would be good. Much prefer manual vents, but love the low dash of the Model 3, SO much visability. Yes the piano black is fail, Tesla has actually learned that one.
I like the look of both, but for me, the Polestar looks classier and more expensive. The shape of the Polestar however is not good for range. The Tesla just doesn't look good in light colours to me, goofy, much better in the darker colours.
