We had exactly the same issue with exactly the same Bosch oven model. Tried everything and was at the verge of calling an electrician. You saved the day. After soaking the wd40 overnight it finally unscrewed and hey presto ….. .. and we have light. Thank u sooo much.

Same oven as I have . Before I saw this tip I nearly gave up. I tried for ages to get the glass cap off . Then saw this . Absolutely brilliant. Spayed WD40 . Left it 15 mins . Effortless to come undone. Thanks so much for the tip.

Thank you so much for this simple "trick"! Been trying for months to get the glass off and not succeeding (putting it down to be over 70 now😢). Watched your video and gave it a good spray with WD40, left it then gave it another spray for good measure and left it again for half an hour and using the magic glove off it came. As you say leaving the WD40 to soak is the key - patience. Super pleased👍😀

Can't thank you enough. After a very stressful hour trying to remove a solidly stuck bulb cover on a Neff oven we eventually found your video. After initially not being too keen to use WD40 in an oven I gave in and applied the ever faithful WD40 (what do they put in that?). After leaving for 10 miutes and then a little wiggling it opened very easily. I had previously used the special cover removal tool five years ago when the bulb went but this time that proved in effective. Much appreciated. Thanks for putting it out there.

PRO-TIP: Take a photo of the bulb right away as it easy to smudge the bulb info off the bulb! At least with my little halogen bulb! Wow maybe it's the WD-40 on my fingers

Perfect - used good few sprays of WD40, waited for 5 mins then turned the oven to full for 3 mins. Used a piece of cloth to unscrew that that was that. As advised burned off the WD40 by running the oven at high temp for 2 further mins. No tools needed! Ordered pack of 4 suitable bulbs from Amazon for next day delivery at £9.

This worked for me and I am thankful I did not have to buy the removal tool because it is not cheap. I did two sprays of WD40, waiting about 20 min. after the first spray; still couldn't get it loose. Then sprayed again and waited a few minutes. The rubber gloves are a very helpful hint.

Today I sprayed the threads with WD-40 and the cover still would not come off. I did not want to buy a strap wrench or a small oil filter wrench. After thinking about the problem, I attached a 3-inch steel hose clamp around the cover. This improved my grip and enabled me to generate enough torque to unscrew it.

I’ll save you all some time.. use channel lock (tongue and groove ) pliers. Gently grab the lens cover and work back and forth. It will take very little torque to work it free. Don’t bother using a rag or anything to protect the glass. Use a gentle touch and have patience.

Thank you for the tip here - unfortunately it did not work for me. However I was able eventually to remove the glass once I realised that there was no way it was held by grease. In fact the glass moved slightly from the beginning but then clicked against metal. My solution was to use a kindling of about 10" and tapping it with a hammer while resting on the slightly raised part of the glass cover - the glass released perfectly.

Thanks for this comment @shennachie I had to resort to something similar using a long piece of wooden dowel as a drift. Worked perfect after a few taps

Use a oil filter removal tool to get a grip on ones that refuse to move by hand

Wow, finally! Had to give it more time. Lost hope, but after a third try after an hour and a half, the freaking bulb cover came off. Don’t buy a bulb cover/removal tool set. Waste of money, you really don’t need that.

that's how to do it. WD40 is for sure good enough for that but if you need something for stucked/ruested bolts etc. get the Deblock Oil from Innotec! After soaking a rusted bolt over a week with WD40 without success someone gave me a bottle Deblock Oil and after first application and about 2 hours later the bolt was loose👍

How did you get rid of the residue afterwards? I tried, the light cover is still stuck but now I can't get rid of the petroleum smell! I let the oven burn at high temperature for 20 min but still smells terribly. Any advice?

      Hi Vittoria,
Did you use the glove with it that im wearing in the video?
The i didnt spare to much WD. Any residue can be wiped off using a kitchen towel or Anti bac wipe. The smell of WD40 should not be that strong that after oven usage it is still there. Hope this helps.

@@moneysavingtips7006 thanks for the reply. I tried with the glove but the light cover moves a little in both direction but no further. It seems to be a common problem with Bosch from I what I've read. I'll probably have to give up and hopefully the smell is gone.

and the smell of wd40 in the oven and your food ??
or was it not a problem /

    • @moneysavingtips7006
      @moneysavingtips7006  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Tony,
Just a couple of quick sprays of WD. Will do the trick. After it has lossen the lighten then wipe all area down with a anti bacterial wipe. Also WD40 is not flammable so you are ok using around ovens. But make sure you wipe down with anti bac wipes before oven is used for food. Also another idea is after you have fitted the new bulb but the oven on full for 30min. This should do away with any smells.
      Hope this help.

The WD40 might have helped, but I had to suffer the wrath of my wife as the residual oil smelled up our kitchen for a few hours. Had I known I would have just taken it out without it or ordered the correct tool from Amazon which is only $17. To make it easier on the next guy I did not tighten it back very much.
