    How to replace your blown out Oven bulb. This specific oven is a Bosch inbuilt model, but the principal of changing the bulbs are the same for most of the generic brands. Replacement bulb was bought from Toolstation, here in the UK..

    Thank you for a great video. Our oven light has just blown, and the wife wants to see what's going on inside the oven . I was stumbling around, not quite knowing where to look. Now I know where to look and what to do.............. again, many thanks.

    Thank you Suj, a great video and very helpful. I had read the oven instruction manual but could not get the light-cover to budge and thought I was doing something wrong, like not knowing my clockwise from my anti-clockwise! Watching your video reassured me that I was doing it right but that it was badly stuck. Some serious muscle did the trick and I think a bit of heat would have helped if I had read the comments as well.

      Cheers Rean 👍. Yes its always a fine balance on how much extra muscle strength to apply without cracking the cover.

    Thank you!! My glass was stuck and I was afraid to apply force before I knew which way I should turn it.

      ooh. use gloves, and try to grip the metal part of the remaining bulb with a smaller plier and try to turn it.

    I'm using the same oven model, still can't loose the cover, it's so stuck. Tried heat up oven, wear latex glove for more grip but none is working.

      Heat usually contracts the glass cover ever so fractionally. There was 1 comment few months ag3i, were they heated the oven for 3 minutes and then let it cool for 1 minute. After that, try twisting it anti clockwise and clockwise just to start the movement.. Good luck

    Well
    The Cover which is a glassjar is almost melted to the thread and cannot be removed . There is a BOSCH Light Cover removal Tool . Some people have commented even withis tool it is difficult to remove the cover. Worst scenario the glass can be broken and there you have small pieces of glass at the top of your over, showering miscroscopic particles on to the things under§
    It is a very bad design for a bulb. Also the heating element is around the light and is obstructing the access to the bulb cover!
    I cannot risk the broken glass. So now has been using the oven without light for almost 3 years!

    • @SujMenon
      @SujMenon  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, that's probably because its so greased up. As you said, it's a bit risky at that stage to force twist it, in case it breaks.

      After watching lots of videos on how to remove the glass cover in a Bosch oven, I came across one that suggested heating the oven for a few minutes.
      Magic! After almost hurting my hand trying to get the glass to turn, I warmed the oven for about 3 minutes, then let it cool for a minute, until it was cool enough to touch, then the glass cover came off easily.

      Bill, that sounds like a great idea 👍. Heat always loosens up grease and rust.

      @@billjackson3130 after being stuck-fast, mine has started moving slightly but still not unscrewing completely - does anyone know if repeating the heating/cooling technique will continue to loosen the cover further?
