the krait phantom is honestly a better explorer than the asp: just as many internals with more range. Corvette is also the best passenger ship in the game for rescue and bulk missions.
Doesn't the Phantom have more internals than the ASP Explorer? From what i can tell it's a straight upgrade in pretty much every regard over the ASP, apart from the price. But what does price even matter in times of void opal mining, at least as long as we are talking in millions and not billions. Maybe it's maneuverability is also slightly worse, but nothing i noticed without a direct comparison (it might also slightly better, i really don't know). And since it it's larger, it might be harder to find a landing spot on a planet, i haven't landed it often enough to comment on whether that's any kind of an issue.
The Phantom is definitely an upgrade and has become, since its release, the new darling of exploration. It has almost as good-a-view as the AspX but with more internal options, more hardpoint options (not that explorers need much in that regards) and the 3rd-best jump-range in the game - after the Anaconda and the DBX - although that does take some serious engineering and min/maxing to achieve.

Great video! Funny jokes and you covered everything super well! Do wanna say though, there are certain ships that you said have no use or purpose that actually do fill a niche or can do things no other ship in the game can do. For example: An engineered Asp Scout is one of the most maneuverable ships in the game, of its class! Also, the Phantom has an incredible jump range when engineered, even better than the Asp Explorer! So explorers out there take note!
"The Federal Assault Ships is one of the best combat ships in the game, often finding itself in a draw against the Fer de Lance..." lol what year is this 2015?
@@Ragnarok222R The FAS has a very low healthpool in the current shield tank engineering meta. @@LIntouchableChannel pvp wise yeah it's really not that good but pve it's a little bit on par with the FDL but it's who's piloting it and how skilled they are what it boils down to.

Ibe just recently been getting into Elite Dangerous on the daily and been looking for a video that would quickly go through all the ships. Ty so much for this vid and I just subbed as well!
Absolutely. And not hard to get when starting a new game. Its only one million. Also, I enjoyed being able to launch a fighter to provide security during mining or whatever.
13:03 - I just recently got a Krait MKII to build up as an exploration ship (I wanted to bring a fighter and I'm not in any particular hurry to get anywhere), and I was surprised how the ship kit parts for that particular model actually work pretty well. Seems I'm not alone in that.
"The Alliance Crusader...look, if you want a Krait, just get one." I literally did own the Crusader for two days before swapping to a Krait. It's just a discount Krait with slightly worse everything.
I don't even know who Yamiks is.. but just an hour or two ago, I went on a rant about the exposed wires inside the cockpit of my ship. And.. having spent so many millions on the damn thing, you'd think that SOMEONE WOULD'VE COVERED THE WIRES IN THE COCKPIT WITH SOMETHING.
I made my bones with a type 6, then keel back, then 7. Saved up for a python, used that to make my millions, bought a type 9, 10, and anaconda. Outfitted and engineered them all in varying degrees. Used my anaconda as my flagship till I got the corvette. Now I'm working on the corvette. Great video, it helped me decide on some fun smaller ships to play around with as I jumped to bigger ships as soon as I could.

Ill be honest, I just bought the game. I looked up this guide for what ships where in the game and hearing "- Its also quite useful for slave training" gave me a pause for thought.
There was way too many ships on that video for new players. Get: Cobra, Vulture, Python and Conda, and you’ll be just fine. After you earned your first billion, buy rest of them. Or: Almost rest. As you need that next billion to get that Cutter. PS: Or if you’re really into exploration before you get Conda, get either AspX or DBX. But you can do it also on Cobra as a starter.
Trading* it’s a good business with Imperial elites, and with a cutter you supposedly get double charisma from it. I do in fact have a cutter but I’ll have to check if that’s true or not
Mostly on the nose, But a couple missed points! 1) The Diamondback Scout is often used for PvP in a stealth-fighter role with it's good hardpoints and extremely low heat signature. It's also got a surprisingly tough hull when outfitted properly. 2) Krait Phantom actually surpasses the Asp Explorer in medium ship exploration and just about every other area when properly outfitted and comes down to pilot preference.

Thanks for the informative video! I just bought a Type 8 for a little under 3 million at Katzenstein Dock in 36 Ophiuchi! Keep up the great work :D
Anyone else think the Eagles look like the Klingon Empire’s Birds of Prey
Eagle. BIRD OF PREY. I think you might just be on to something...
@@darthkek1953
Right on.
Glad someone mentioned it.
I get that Klingon vibe also on Pythons cockpit.
Yeah it looks like a small bird of prey
Very good video. Straight to the point and made me realize how versatile my asp explorer can be. Thank you
this video made me get back into the game after a failed start.
fantastic to see this video back!!!
I just bought my first Cobra MkIII, love it
I just realized I watched so many of your videos for entertainment and educational purposes I might as well subscribe and get it over with. Sorry for taking a while.
I'm sure there's someone being a guardian of the galaxy just playing 80's song while traveling through space
Thanks for the idea lmao
Wow, what a great vibe idea
I'm going with the type 8. Looked amazing!!
I can't see the Type 8. Is this some sort of Emperor's New Clothes situation? Like, can you only see it if you're good at the game?
It's wonder woman's ship
you can only see it if you go to hutton orbital
It seems you’re not a stand user.
well done, I have not played in a while and this was informative and fun to watch
Your Review got posted on their store page on Steam.
This had a solid RCR vibe to it. Thumbs up.
Well that was an abrupt ending.
"Like, subscribe, see you next time gamers!" There ya go.
@@SepulcherGeist You mocking the generic youtuber "like, comment, and subscribe" bullshit just made me like, comment and subscribe. Finally someone who gets how unnessecary and annoying that is...
Thank you for this video! Now I know to upgrade from my Type 6 to a Type 8
This is definitely the first time I've heard fer de lance and maneuverable in the same sentence
"The Federal Assault Ships is one of the best combat ships in the game, often finding itself in a draw against the Fer de Lance..."
lol what year is this 2015?
L' Intouchable
Could you explain? I’m new to the game (like, 20 hours) and I’m looking for all the info I can get my grubby little hands on.
@@Ragnarok222R The FAS has a very low healthpool in the current shield tank engineering meta. It also has worse lateral/vertical thrust and boost acceleration than the FDL, which means it often gets out maneuvered. Overal, it has a DPS disadvantage, a maneuverability disadvantage, a healthpool disadvantage and it has weaknesses to module damage because its shields are weak.
@@LIntouchableChannel pvp wise yeah it's really not that good but pve it's a little bit on par with the FDL but it's who's piloting it and how skilled they are what it boils down to.
@@anonymouskellog6157 PvE is not really an environment in which you can compare combat ships to effectively; you can kill pretty much any NPC in a Viper if you wanted to. And whilst skill is important, it takes relatively little skill to nuke an FAS these days.
@@LIntouchableChannel which is why I said it depends on who's piloting it because you can have one guy that just is....well.......space dust to someone who's piloting essentially a weak version of the vulture harassing until either more show up or someone else brings a bigger ship.
I may be half a year late, but 8:00 it's also worth noting that the Asp Explorer is also the Fuel Rats' ship of choice, their go-to, their badge.
If you see a player in an AspX within the bubble in Open, chances are they're ratting for a newbie.
15:17 you almost made me spit out my coffee! nice troll. great video!
Ibe just recently been getting into Elite Dangerous on the daily and been looking for a video that would quickly go through all the ships. Ty so much for this vid and I just subbed as well!
The Keelback is an AMAZING mining ship for the price range. Mine has paid for itself many times over.
Absolutely. And not hard to get when starting a new game. Its only one million. Also, I enjoyed being able to launch a fighter to provide security during mining or whatever.
Keelback is awesome for void opal picking
Good quick video covering everything.
"The clipper REEKS of elegance"
You're eh... quite the wordsmith.
13:03 - I just recently got a Krait MKII to build up as an exploration ship (I wanted to bring a fighter and I'm not in any particular hurry to get anywhere), and I was surprised how the ship kit parts for that particular model actually work pretty well. Seems I'm not alone in that.
"The Alliance Crusader...look, if you want a Krait, just get one."
I literally did own the Crusader for two days before swapping to a Krait. It's just a discount Krait with slightly worse everything.
18:39 maybe a type 10 heavy can?
Whenever I think of a delacy ship I can just hear yamiks yelling
*THOSE F%CKING WIRES!!*
It's cables though...
I think your missing the point
I don't even know who Yamiks is.. but just an hour or two ago, I went on a rant about the exposed wires inside the cockpit of my ship. And.. having spent so many millions on the damn thing, you'd think that SOMEONE WOULD'VE COVERED THE WIRES IN THE COCKPIT WITH SOMETHING.
Nate Daniels
You definitely get it
I made my bones with a type 6, then keel back, then 7.
I fought a Federal Corvette in an Anaconda to a draw.
The firefight lasted ~3 minutes
was hella fun
God that type 8 is incredible
damn that type 8 is impressive.
My favourites:
Exploring: Krait Phantom
Combat: Mamba
Mining: Type-10 Defender (void opals)
Passenger: Orca
Over here
Exp: DBexp long distance / Sidewinder less than 5k ly
Combat: Vulture
Mining: Conda
Pass: Cutter
Race: Cobra
To make all of it or just style: Phantom!
@@Gonueve To be honest, these are all great ships. I like the viewpoint of the Type-10 when mining. Its a very slow ship to turn. I think the Conda does that better. I get the Vulture too. I build an Imp Fighter for speed. 900m/s is pretty awesome. For exploring I use the Phantom because of the amount of stuff you can bring. De DBX has more jumprange. I rarely use the big ships.
@@vincentkrommenhoek7431 same over here, just use big ships to make money, except opals ( for them i usually use pythom ) like very much type 10 even to combat with an hangar, the view as u said its very good, probably thats why i like and prefer Lakon and Core dynamics space ships, for thoose views... even for the crew/wing are awesome, for the rest of the jobs i also prefer medium or small ships, got more fun with them! Fly safe cmdr o7
For me
Combat (and my love) - Mamba
Exploring - Krait Phantom
Traveling - jumpconda
Mining - Cutter
Passenger - Beluga
Piracy - Cutter
Making my mates hate me- Mamba.
And to show you the power of mining, I multiple cutters. I bathe in white flying gloves and top hats.
Type 8 was blowing my mind so hard, I had to go to comment section to be sure xD
Fun E. Laughed at several points; power point included. Enjoyed! thanks
Damn calling my favourite ship in the game "mediocre in all roles" :'(
I know right :(
Viper Mk. III was my ship for most of the early game up to and a little after leaving the starter zone. I never even bought a Cobra. Loved my Viper, and it looks great too.
Fly the ship you love and make it work for you.
I've never played Elite, and probably won't due to hardware/time constraints, but i love this kind of video. Good job!
Why is a Beluga a bigger ship than the Orca? In reality a mature Beluga is 1/3rd the size of a mature orca.
Yeah, but those names where chosen by marketeers, not marine biologists. :P I mean, what sounds bigger 'orca' or 'beluga'?
@@Tesskr95 Um orca? Oh you mean the length of the word... :/
They did serious testing of Orcas and Belugas in space, and Belugas will inflate much more in vacuum, so thats why.
This channel is one of the reasons I’m grinding for elite.
Ill be honest, I just bought the game. I looked up this guide for what ships where in the game and hearing "- Its also quite useful for slave training" gave me a pause for thought.
Same. Considering getting the game as I've been playing eve in previous years. Trying to see all this game has to offer
Driver 2900 Same bro.
Trading*
it’s a good business with Imperial elites, and with a cutter you supposedly get double charisma from it. I do in fact have a cutter but I’ll have to check if that’s true or not
@@hudsoneyseleh9444 no. you don't get bonus REP. :)
Got my two favorites: the Python and the Krait MK2. They are my in-game babies, and I love them both.. Saving up for an Anaconda...
type 8 aged well
I havent played this game ever and i still loved this video
The Anaconda. The Swiss army knife of Elite. Hate it or love it, it's the best tool for far too many roles. The OG OP. Respek.
og definitely but it only really beats the cutter in exploration
Mostly on the nose, But a couple missed points! 1) The Diamondback Scout is often used for PvP in a stealth-fighter role with it's good hardpoints and extremely low heat signature. It's also got a surprisingly tough hull when outfitted properly. 2) Krait Phantom actually surpasses the Asp Explorer in medium ship exploration and just about every other area when properly outfitted and comes down to pilot preference.
