For perspective, you went through the mail slot around 800 mph. The FedVette is about 1.5x the length of a football field. So needless to say, something that size coming through the mail slot at ~800 mph would most certainly have a hell of a sonic boom to wake everyone up.
It actually puts things to perspective; how a seemingly *outright-impossible* maneuver according to many pilots who are watching this video right now, still has room to improve when you make an in-depth analysis of the chain of execution. Almost as if to say, "Impossible is just what you cant do _right now."_ I love this.
it's far from impossible, you just have to really understand what you are trying to do, and know your ship well. and indeed, the final touch down could be a bit more precise, though it's really hard and wouldn't make the landing really faster, just look neater. impressive regardless
@@quantumshadow7416 that it prevents boosting makes sense, but that it cancels it doesnt, especially since it is literally the only way to cancel boosting

Well, we know everyone in that station knows when you've come to town I think I heard every civilians ass collectively clench as you sped through the mailslot.
Landing like this need initial d spec eurobeat Also imagine the panic of flight control realizing a ship the size of a city block is moving towards them faster than the speed of sound and its pilot hasn't started braking yet.
I remember a video from years ago, where the pilot of some fighter ship fought a thargoid around a station and had to repair and rearm. His flying was so incredibly precise and quick that the whole process was like a formula 1 boxing. He was in and out in a matter of seconds.
th-cam.com/video/bP_ICLkYKH0/w-d-xo.html I think its this one, docking request to landing in 25-ish seconds. The total maneuvre lasted 50 seconds (docking request, landing, repair and rearm, launch, exit the station)
I have done landings about this fast in my type-6, also some pretty rapid exits as well, usually with a similar stomach wrenching feeling as I backflip up and out thew mail slot. Also maybe a few horrible occasions when I bump a light pole mid rares run and hear a little voice going "eject, eject". You know what they say in trading, time is money.. and so are shields
There is atmosphere inside the dock, I suppose. Atmosphere = air pressure. So, 167-meters arrow just doing backflip and still being single solid shape... Incredible durability...
When I bought my Vette, I couldn't leave the station cuz I got stuck in the mailslot, so got zapped. Born in fire so to say ... Props to the OP's skills 😆
I feel like if this could happen IRL it'd be the equivalent of the white pickup that tailgates you while you're already going 20mph over the speed limit. but as it is, it's just freaking great
this felt awkward as hell at first glance, but come to think of it, killing momentum with a double backflip *is* probably faster than could ever be done by regular braking. That main engine is just way more powerful than the reverse thrusters.
i did this once and there was an eagle somewhere along the trajectory, i didn't know what happened until the station cannons shot at me and blew me for blowing up the eagle during corvette boots x
Nah, that's bullshit. I remember I had a broken cockpit window, half of the engines and 1% of HP, and managed to fly into the station, almost suffocating, and landed the ship right on the right PAD... that was the fastest landing. I was carrying expensive cargo then, and hostile players were waiting in the system. It was the escape of my life.
I remember doing very similar things way back in the day for Ceos/Sothis runs back into the bubble when carrying MANY MANY TONS of illegal goods to speed shit up for the grind to fund this bitch after the same grind to gain the rep for it. Horrible days.
