Kinder Plateau Aztec rock | what was that sound?

  • Ok…hear me out here. I went on a mission today to navigate my way to the Aztec Lizard 🦎 rock up on Kinder Scout. Clagged out and raining I fancied a challenge. I found it! I drank tea and admired the carving, reflecting about its presence in such an unforgiving landscape, almost like a guardian, a recharging station… a sacred place. When I looked back on the audio after my strenuous hike I was stunned to hear some strange interference on my audio (no microphone, I’d put it away as didn’t want it getting too wet) I can only explain this as a transmitting/ buzzing/ magnetic sound. The sound comes and goes when i get close to the rock and when im talking about it…believe what you will and find logical explanations if you wish ✨some things are best left unexplained, pretty much like this rock itself. An unknown artist/creator and and unknown age, nothing is known about it ~ all part of its beautiful mystery…
I was safely back down to my car in Edale as it went dark and felt proud of my efforts today…back in time to prepare some lovely pancakes for these big kids of mine ❤️

Thank you for taking us on this hike with you - and it was amazing to see Aztec Lizard Rock! I have to say I am so impressed with the responsible way that you did the hike, how well prepared you were and the pointing out of your safety aspects - a great role model. I look forward to watching more of your videos! Happy hiking!

Hey 👋🏻 thank you for the lovely comment Louise. I’ve climbed and walked Kinder many times now and understand it’s unforgiving nature and wholeheartedly respect it. I’ve seen mountain rescue looking for people in trouble and I always endeavour not to be included in their numbers. I do think that I have a responsibility to take my individual safety seriously when I’m out on solo hikes when I publish it on social media. I love to show that It’s possible to have fun and stay safe 😊 check out my other 18 mile hike around Kinder scout to see it in beautiful weather! ATB, Sarah

I believe, I know, I felt it. I didn’t feel freaked out, I felt guided and cared for. What ever we understand or believe it’s built in experience and knowledge and I have been delving into my spiritual side more recently in the last few years. I love these mysteries buried in history that are all over the Peaks. Who knows what is buried under the peat, or how many things we walk past everyday and just don't realise their significance? Did they even know what the Azteks were whenever someone carved it?
I saw the plaque on Carl Wark that said maximum penalty £100 for damage to the scheduled monument, then saw a date carved into the rocks which my mate said was 1771. Looking a bit closer, we agreed it was 1991, but at what point does vandalism become heritage?
Cracking video again, thank you and keep at it!

Hi, you busy lady 😊. Watched this one before, but thought I'd watch it again whilst I ate my lunch - still supporting your channel! I even paused you, made myself a cuppa tea so I could have one with you 😂. I've lied to you, I told you we had only been up Kinder once 😮 we've actually been up there twice maybe three times. We went up the Nab/Ringing Roger along the edge and came down Crowden Brook and we went up from Bowden Bridge, William Clough along to the downfall and dropped down just beyond Red Brook through where Dog Stone is. This is my next mission to find that stone! XX

The kinder live is strong Sadie! This boulder isn’t easy to find. It’s better on a nice day. Maybe that could be our walk and talk lol 😂 plenty of time to catch up whilst I drag you to the rock for a little sit down to admire the wild gruffs and bog lands. I’d still need to navigate using my phone to find it again. Kinder looks different every time I visit! ATB, Sarah

Omg 😮 what an offer! I would love that! When you said meet for a walk, talk and cuppa I didn't think we would have the privilege of being in your company for that long 😊. I watched this video the other day and since you suggested taking us there it's been my mission to try to locate it as you said. So my free minutes I'm sat with Google maps and my os map, it's driving me bonkers if I lived nearer I'd say come on we are off to see if I've located it, but I can't 😂. My first mission was to find dog stone, I feel confident about that one as for this rock I thought it would be a while before I considered trying to look for it due to how the weather can change quickly and my lack of Kinder experience. Before children we were up on Bleaklow and the clagg came down good job we had a compass 😅 bog after bog after bog. I think back and can't believe it, we were even less prepared and less knowledgeable than we are now - that's youth for ya 😂. XX

Can relate to this walk - been up and down that path (The Nab) to Ringing Roger (the rocks just before the plateau) several times, including coming down in the pitch black after 9pm after an eventful attempt to walk the whole perimeter path (hint - don’t try it on a short winter day!). Shame that the sound went down at the most important time, never mind though you'll sort that out. Also, nothing blocks your filter on your befree like kinder water....imagine all the miniscule bits of peat getting trapped in the filter? Unavoidable but it explains why the flow slows right down after a while.

Geeking out regarding Aztec rock. Some could say your experience could be due to hypoxia. Don't want to bust anyone's bubble, but the rock may be a squatting man or squatting mantis petroglyph (a representation of plasma fields in the sky witnessed by the ancients) they are a world wide phenomena. Guess you will know 220-40=180 so 160 is fine, and you climbed down to 135 pretty quick. You obviously have faith in your Katadyn water filter as you mentioned poo 💩 and pee in the last video. I've got an ancient one that weights a ton but is indestructible. As for the weird microphone noises I have an equally weird explanation that I probably need to research a bit more. You may know that some rocks in the Peak District are very slightly radio active and as the particles fire out they can be picked up by wireless microphones, course I could be talking you know what again.
