You’re right Murray….There are stacks of channels out there doing hill walking but there is only the 1 King in Scotland and he eats Scotch Eggs….yet another fantastic episode.
Good to see someone do videos for pleasure and not just for the money. I think a lot expect to make loads and pack it in when they don't .some do it full time and it must be hard thinking of new videos to make day after day.great video by the way and thanks always for sharing
Thanks Harry - think I would struggle if I had to rely on TH-cam for a living ! would need 100 times more viewer I think lol Thanks for watching ATB Murray
Please, Murray, never give up on your TH-cam channel. I so look forward to every Wed for your videos. I love seeing the places in Scotland that I can never get to see for myself, sadly. Keep them coming.
Honestly Murray I think you are either a wizard or have a direct line to god. Your videos just keep getting better and better. Just when I think you can’t make a better video, off you trot and hit it out of the ball park. Stunning video this one absolutely loved it. Thank you doesn’t even begin to express my thanks for what you do and bring us, your viewers. Cheers Murray and stay safe
Thanks Tony - very kind words - I must admit that I can sometimes find it hard to keep the videos going especially after a day like I had on Ben Nevis with the stunning scenery and views - the next video could be a walk in the clouds to a drummochter munro (nothing wrong with that) but it is no where near as cinematic or inspiring ! :) The truth of being a TH-camr!!lol Thanks for watching ATB Murray
I've been ill and unable to get out into the hills for the last 6 months but wonderful videos like this really help me to get my mountain fix and to give me inspiration & motivation for future days out. Thanks for providing us all with these films which are relaxing, inspiring, and informative. They really help.
Another spectacular video of a climb in the Scottish mountains in their late winter mantle. These videos bring your viewers a lot of pleasure and are much appreciated.
What a wonderful video! I don’t think anyone minded that ‘Rant’ at the end. Would hardly even call it rant as you had a point and despite the difficulties, you still manage to bring out the positives rather than just complaining! You’re clearly a lovely guy and you inspire me through your positive attitude, the way you appreciate nature (Never taking it for granted) and the effort you put into your videos!
Every Thursday a pop-up appears on my screen in school telling me that you have posted another video. Even if I don't notice it my kids do. As my weekend starts on a Thursday, it is not complete without a Scotland's Mountains video. Looking forward to getting back to them in the summer. There are many TH-cam channels on Scotland but there is a very good reason why so many people come back to yours. Keep up the good work. They are so good!
Thanks, Murray. I'll never be able to climb another mountain, but was with you all the way in this video. The only time I've seen Ben Nevis was in the distance, from Cairn Gorm, on a windy and rainy day in late September. The scenery in this video is truly beautiful, even with the fog. As for your rant, yes, you're right to voice those experiences.
Thank you for this. I have always wanted to show my son what I achieved in my youth. 1975 I sailed on the 3 masted schooner, Captain Scott out of fort William. We would sail around Highlands and Islands, be dropped of hike for 3 days and meet up with the schooner again. Are final hike was 2 days to the base of Nevis and took your route. Up and the path down. Going down. We had a couple of royal marine cadets who wanted to be the first watch back to the ship. So we jogged where ever possible all the way back to the lock and the ship. I was just 16. Dad said I came back a man. I just know now I struggle to get out of a car without help. But my memories are with me. [it was June 1975. The hot summer in living memory so a lot less snow back then and not as many walking up the path. And no one except our other watches and ourselves. I will be showing my son my achievement with your video.
Stunning as usual. Your video's are so good ! Cant believe you are not being paid by scotlands tourist industry. The drone footage was absolutely brilliant.
Really great video Murray, thanks. I have done the CMD arete twice in winter, both with really poor visibility and snow, one was close to white-out. That time I managed to navigate off the arete before realising my mistake! The second time I picked up two stray lads from the south of England who had taken the Anoch Mor charlift and walked down the glen and up to Carn Mor Dearg! They basicaĺy said 'we are lost, where are we? can you help us?🙄. No mobiles or Spot in those days so it was me, my OS map and a silva compass in.the snow and a couple of cold daft lads in tow, dressed in doc martins boots seeking the relative safety of the Ben Nevis summit. I gave them a big telling-off, probably more than once, but they plied me with beer that night in compensation. My route then was up the tourist path, over the Nevis spur at the half way loch and down into the glen at the other side, over the river (seems crazy looking back but it's clearly possible - boots and socks off of course), then up CMD. So I have never summited Carn Mor! Your pronunciation was varied at best😂. My Gàidhlig-speaking friend told me it sounds like "Jah-rig" with a soft 'J'....nothing to do with Gerard, whoever he is!😂👍
Brings back such memories of twenty five thirty years ago when the Ben and its ridges were such happy places for me. Castle Ridge, Tower Ridge, Observatory Ridge, North East Buttress, CMD Arrete. Now the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. However your videos make it seem like yesterday when my mates and I climbed believing those days would last forever.
One of the best TH-camrs out there. You can really see how much you do these videos for the love of things and really have your own style compared to a lot of other TH-camrs out there. Your knowledge and experience is so evident. Brilliant video as always 🎉
This is beautiful, Murray, to look at and listen to. Your photography is second to none and you speak as though confiding in a friend. I find it very special.
Never tackled this route as yet murray but it looks spectacular and don.t ever quit doing what you do.i know its not just me saying this but if I ever feel lifes getting to busy and I'm not getting out enough I can always watch a couple of your videos and it resets my focus.you keep going murray 👍
Another awesome video, Murray, and thank you for getting up so early so we can share these stunning views!! Your videos are the best and your TGO award is so much deserved!!🙂🙂
I climbed this route in December 2018. Knee deep in snow. Pretty awful conditions. Half way up the side opposite NF I took pictures of fresh cat prints. Sent the pictures to keel university who confirmed it as the hind leg prints of a fully grown male leopard. Fresh as well. So I came close. Great route.
I wouldn't fancy meeting a big cat on the CMD Arete on Ben Nevis!! lol - I did the Mullardoch mountains last winter and followed prints right around the snowy hills - think it was a fox though :) Thanks for watching ATB Murray
Spot on Murray. It's clear what your films are for. You love the days on the hill. And you want to keep the memories, and share them. Your videos are what inspired me to make more effort on mine and start my Channel. Not many views but I still love that part of my mountain hobby. As for this film CMD again, got me jealous AGAIN. 😂❤. Awesome
It’ll be a sad day when you decide not to make videos. That was a stunning trip, looked a bit scary at points on what looked like a snowy knife edge. Loved it, Thanks
The channel name is perfect, it is geeky to have your own name as it absolutely means nothing to anyone. The only reason I clicked on this video is because the channel time is simultaneously a 'tag'
Murray, your videos knock regular TV programs into the long grass or should I say into the nearest snowdrift. The question, is TH-cam worth it? is of course, yes it is. For people like myself who are not going to go into the mountains the way you do, it's more than a breath of fresh air. It is as close to the experiences we can get and it is extremely valuable. I fully appreciate your Camera work which is just fine, especially with the Drone shots which are some of the best we could ever see on any platform. I have a TH-cam channel myself and I know what skill needed to produce a good video, and you have those skills in spades. Not only that, your commentary and attitude towards safety and enthusiasm from the mountains complete the picture. Long may you explore and keep safe and healthy.
Outstanding drone work, some of the very best in the Scottish mountains, in all of Scotland, well planned, well executed and well delivered. When is the book for newbies coming out?Seriously.
Outstanding Murray lad. The future missus and I did this in summer, in the mid 80’s, started at 11am and finished at the chip van on the loch side in Fort William at 10.30pm. Cracking day ... clear skies all day, the late start due to low cloud at sea level, and an Olympian level of persuasion on my part ... “it’s going to clear”, and boy, it did. It was an epic outing. Still together now, so it must not have put her off!
Simply stunning footage. I have only ever done the tourist route up the Ben 🥴. And quite enjoy you gibbering on so very pleased you still enjoy you tubing.
Brilliant story Murray. Really enjoyed the retelling of the Massacre and I agree that schools should teach more about Scottish History. I think you'll see less folk on those hills after this. 😅 atb.
What a treat to watch - and thank goodness you stuck with TH-cam or your beautiful videos wouldn't have found me (or vice versa!). The drone footage was incredible. What a climb, Murray! Thank you!!
Another truly incredible piece of art Murray! I hope you realise quite how special your cinematography and storytelling on these videos are. I'm a young outdoor lover in the Midlands, and these videos just make me smile every time I watch them
Please keep doing youtube Murray your videos have provided me with so much inspiration. I won the walkhighlands report of the month for January 2023 for my report on CMD, your video was a big inspiration for wanting to do it for sunrise. I can imagine youtube being a frustrating platform that seems heavily weighted on algorithms, video titles and the thumbnail. If you visit the lake District that is far worse for parking charges. I must admit full carparks and hundreds of people I find off-putting and prefer to seek solitude which im sure you relate with. Cheers Murray
Well done. 18th January minus 17 degrees. Got half way up. First ever mountain. 2nd climb I reached the summit in May Fantastic. Takes your mind off life problems. Thank you for you video.
I don't often comment on videos, but I'm so glad this came up in my feed. Such great production quality, brilliant video - very well narrated, and a new route to add to my tick list! Thanks!
Your enthusiasm, excellent commentary and brilliant photography always make your adventures a joy to watch . Can’t thank you enough. I always look forward to Wednesday evenings. Your channel is, as far as I’m concerned, the best and you do it for love of the mountains and not for money! Wow!❤❤😀
Absolutely awesome Murray. The days that dreams are made of. When it all comes together and you beat the weather front. We'll done a great video thankyou 😊
You simply have the most wonderful channel.....think it's fair to see that's it's appreciated by all...down to earth, stunning shots and you come across as a really sound, genuine good bloke....really great channel.
Really Really enjoy these videos Murray! Beautifully captured and very well presented. I must say I'm relatively new to the channel and I love going back over your old catalogue of videos. To see that you've been doing this since 20-13 and to see how far you have come, is very inspiring and it really inspires me to keep pushing on with mine. Thanks again for sharing. Keep up the hard work and have a great Christmas!
Having come across your channel only recently, I am addicted to watching the whole backcatalog of videos. The scenery is so stunning and the adventures into the wilderness are inspiring. Thank you for doing what you do, and please don't stop sharing your adventures.
Some stunning shots in this video. I'm really glad that you think it's still worth you doing TH-cam - you constantly produce high-quality videos that are a pleasure to watch.
I would love to experience standing where you were when flying the drone. !❤ Superb channel, vlogger, videographer and photographer. Unbelievable Murray superb.
Great video Murray - brought back memories of the only time I climbed the mountain, by the same route but in the early summer about 30 years ago - still snowy on top though. I'd spent the night before at a B&B near Fort William where the lady of the house, learning of my plan, produced a 1kg box of frozen herrings in oatmeal and plunged the lot into the deep fat fryer for my breakfast. I swear to you Murray they were still repeating on me at the summit. Annoying about the parking, these frustrations are only set to worsen as more people take to the hills requiring overnight parking, and regulations continue to proliferate in our Nanny State. We will need to develop private strategies!
. . . How about this for an ‘alternative’ for you, ‘davids’ - take away ALL regulations shall we?.. and just allow everyone to do as they wish-?.. How long before you’d be one of the first to moan about … ‘the state of things’ in that ‘place and then ‘country’. Do you believe people (all comers) are to be trusted?.. and we both know the answer to that.
@@donaldcook3112 Don't be silly, there's a sensible balance, and I happen to think that we're going too far with regulation. Your opinion may differ of course - I'm sure plenty of peoples' do!
Thank you Murray, just wow, I have no words really, epically wonderful and beautiful video. Scotland sticking a finger up to the Alps 😁 shouting we are just as beautiful! The CMD Arête is just gorgeous in the snow. 😍
Absolutely love your videos...for me, channels like yours is what made/makes youtube special. Its changing, along with the content, but the gifts are there if you know where to look, or are already subscribed! Inspiring, amazing, and uplifting as always! Thank you.
The drone camera is so clear and I loved the illusion that the mountain you were on looked like it was rising above the mountain in the background when the drone was lowering I see the angle you’re hiking and it takes good leg muscles..over eight hours on one scotch egg..maybe a few jelly babies! You had a beautiful day ..a very enjoyable video Take care 🇨🇦❤️
I’m with you Murray. The Northface Carpark is so handy but the parking set up is a pain in the ass. I used to use it for as a start for backpacking trips but it seems you canny do that now. The traverse is probably one of the best mountain days in the UK, well worth an Alpine start. Thanks for taking the time and effort to make such a great film, I was walking every step with you. All the best.
Wow, left pretty speechless by this adventure, absolutely spectacular scenery. Your videos are quite simply the best out there, yet you have remained so humble, and true to your principles of why you started your channel in the first place, a genuine love of the mountains ⛰️. We hope you tube continues to be worth it for you, you deserve millions of followers 🙌
Stunning condition Murray and another fantastic video, absolutely love the CMD route up to the Ben. Great to say hello in Tesco's on the Friday morning, ATB Jon
Hi Jon - that was me getting my supplies nice and early ready for the late getta way!! Hope you had fun up in Attadale and the bothy night was fun :). Nice meeting you again too Thanks for watching ATB Murray
@@ScotlandsMountains had two great days thanks and a fantastic night in the bothy. Just didn't enjoy the 8 miles in and out on foot. It'll be the bike next time 😂
Another great video. I'm so glad you still think TH-cam is worth it. Your films are a highlight of our household's week. I really must do the arete sometime but I don't have skills for winter. It looks great. I loved all the rambling, it sounds like my inner monologue when I'm on the bike.
Wow, I'd defo make a video if I had a day like that. As you say, personal reminder that you will look back on very fondly thinking "that wasn't a wasted day". And if others get pleasure too ... and I do ... inspiration even. Thanks
Another cracking video Murray! I totally agree... the CMD is my favourite route up in the Ben... and I also agree that Ringo and parking in general can be painfully frustrating. Happy Adventuring!
Another wonderful vidio Murray, please keep walking & filming!👌. Love to watch them, even those we feel unable to do ourselves. Just like walking with a friend 😊.

Some stunning shots in this video. I'm really glad that you think it's still worth you doing TH-cam - you constantly produce high-quality videos that are a pleasure to watch.
Not grumpy and not talking nonsense. As usual, really wonderful video. Thanks Murray.

@@ScotlandsMountains Welcome Murray watch religiously.
Poetic narrative 🏴👣✍️
Good stuff Murray, enjoyed that.
Thank you Murray, just wow, I have no words really, epically wonderful and beautiful video. Scotland sticking a finger up to the Alps 😁 shouting we are just as beautiful! The CMD Arête is just gorgeous in the snow. 😍
was the first time I watched you doing this route many years ago was a great video then and now, great seeing it updated..keep going my friend..
🙏👍
Absolutely love your videos...for me, channels like yours is what made/makes youtube special. Its changing, along with the content, but the gifts are there if you know where to look, or are already subscribed! Inspiring, amazing, and uplifting as always! Thank you.
It is worth YOU doing TH-cam for US who love your films - thank you again for keeping me entertained
The drone camera is so clear and I loved the illusion that the mountain you were on
looked like it was rising above the mountain in the background when the drone was lowering
I see the angle you’re hiking and it takes good leg muscles..over eight hours on one scotch egg..maybe a few jelly babies!
You had a beautiful day ..a very enjoyable video
Take care 🇨🇦❤️
Absolutely awesome channel and this video was spectacular, never miss any of your uploads. Thank you.
🙏👍
Beautiful drone work... what a super climb!
Fantastic video Murray, again! What an absolute gent you are, keep up the fantastic work 👏
🙏
Your previous video with the CMD summit camp is the best video on TH-cam.
Thanks Joe 🙏
Awesome Murray, so glad you enjoy doing youtube videos be lost without them......

More food for the soul from the Man Wae The Van. Thanks again Murray.
Great video Murray. I think almost everyone ignores the no-overnight rule up there.
Just epic Murray. Camera work, scenery, brilliant weather...absolute incredible video. Bravo sir
🙏thanks - watching your trip up Tarmachan last night in tent - bet that water was good when you got back !!
@@ScotlandsMountains haha, yes the tap water in my bottle was absolutely outstanding Murray 😂 thanks for watching mate 👍
Thanks
^Fantastic video. Still renember your old video it was the first video that I watched on your chanel
🙏
Well done Murray on the climb. The video was great. The sunrise was spectacular.
I’m not surprised your feet were sore at the end.
Well done.
Another cracking video Murray! I totally agree... the CMD is my favourite route up in the Ben... and I also agree that Ringo and parking in general can be painfully frustrating. Happy Adventuring!
Thanks Calum :)
