Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I’m an ND GT owner, car is a few months old. It’s the soft-top. I don’t particularly find it noisy, even at highway speeds, and let’s face it why would you go on a highway ? Back roads in the Miata are way more fun. Yes, the seats take some getting used to, they are actually almost hollow, not fully upholstered like a typical car. You can buy a small lumbar support device like many people have on their office chairs, I know someone who has a rolled up towel as back support if they are going on a long drive. The hollow seats are designed to save weight. I’d like to disagree with you about trunk space. My wife and I have been on a two week interstate road-trip in the Miata. The trick is to take soft luggage, not a hard suitcase, and we were surprised how much we can take. The trunk has a narrow opening, but is deep and wide. If you look online you can even buy specifically designed Miata luggage a 3 piece set that fits perfectly. Regarding the ‘transmission failure’, this was mainly on cars that drivers took on track-days and revved the hell out of them. It was a super rare issue if you drove the car normally. I love the car, it’s my second Miata, had the original NA back in the day, and looking forward to many more miles and smiles in it.
I've got a miata rf for 4yrs now, daily drive it, and I love it every single day.next year I'm gonna buy an nd softtop 😉 because the rf got to much milage 😏
I rented this exact model for 2 weeks. Loved every moment of it. funnest car I've ever driven. MPG was awesome and you can get the back end loose without feeling out of control. Drove 6 hours on the highway with no complaints. Seats were fine. a little wind noise, but not too bad. Trunk space was fine for my use. For me when I consider the fun, reliability, low maintenance, cheap consumables and great mpg - this is the most fun per dollar of any car on the road.
I bought an 07 nc prht 6 speed for only 13k and absolutely love it. Has more room and storage than the nd and is just as quick for a fraction of the price.
Interesting take! I respect your opinions. I am coming from a GTI and am giving up all the things you wanted out of your Miata so that I can get one myself. I think a better title to this video would be: "Miata" is not for everyone" Because for some people Miata is always the answer.
I recently got an ND1 just for weekend fun and find excuses to drive it almost everyday. It’s a perfect little go cart to enjoy my weekends along beach drives. Best sports car I’ve owned, former German car enthusiast last 20yrs. And I’m 6’4” tall NP.
LOL, I am now on my 4th Miata but sold past three with the same reasons. I got used to the noise with HTs on NA/NB and PRHT with NC but one thing that bothered me the most was storage capacity prevented me from taking the Miata on a longer trips or activities. but at the end, many like myself come back again and again and it's an affection for one of a kind vehicle and plain simple and fun to drive. I have owned many open tops from all premium brands including a Mustang but nothing is more memorable than a Miata ownership and all the owners of the Miatas are unique people too.
Agree , but my 2016 Club soft top is my 1st Miata / 1st convertible / 1st Mazda owned. I don't find my cloth seats lacking lumbar support but I keep the seatback straight up. Many drives over 3 hours without a break. Its a daily driver in 4 season weather so its almost time for the switch over. Also love the fact its very easy to do much of the maintenance myself ! Including the wheel / tire changes for the seasons. Cost factor to own is unparalleled ! After market parts have a wide selection plus cost is low. Storage space was known going into this car. I consider the lightweight & smallness an advantage not a drawback. My car is Artic White & always have the headlights on so its hard NOT to see me.
I just ordered a 2024 (with the new improvements, making it an ND3, and here are my answers for all of your complaints (thanks for sharing them btw): 1. Noise - had two 124 Spiders, never heard any noises apart from my Karceps sway bars (just spray with silicon lube and it’s gone for a few months). You also have an RF which is heavier, slower and has a lot more wind buffeting than the standard softop. 2. Mechanical looseness - I have a 2022 Camaro ZL1 and for example the door feels a lot more “well-built” and solid compared to the Miata. I believe this is simply due to the efforts of making it lightweight. It weighs 1,700 less than my convertible ZL1 and it’s not meant to be a daily driver. So, I’m fine with it. 3. Small - I’m 5’8 on a good day. It wouldn’t be a daily driver. Less space = more lightweight = more fun. 4. Seats - The GT ones I did not like. Felt like they done in between my back. The Recaros however are perfectly fine! So, no problem at all there. 5. Speed/power - fair argument, I have a ZL1 with 650 horses STOCK. However, I can barely floor it even on sunny Texas weather and good tires. Too much power. Cops and speed limits exist. I want something I can floor all day long, without getting into too much trouble - something I feel I can maximize. 6. Tranny - The 124 Spiders came with the NC tranny, but it was also a lot more rubbery than the ND2 one I tested. I believe they also improved the tranny for ND2 compared to ND1. I love the feel of the transmission, even compared to my ZL1 one. So that’s it! I want something to track (with peace of mind that comes from a lower price and not absurd amounts of power) but also maximize on the street and in the canyons. I might find the ND3 too slow, but for now the ZL1 is way too fast haha. We shall see :)
I just bought a 2022 ND club with performance package and have a little less than 2,000 miles on it. The recaro seats are excellent for lumbar support but a little narrow around the hip area so if you are not too big then you can take 2 to 3 hours of continuous driving( which I just did). I’m about 6 feet and 185 pounds and I fit great but this car is not for tall/large frame people, you must test it before buying. My last two second cars were BMW 3 series convertibles with the last being the excellent 335is. I already miss that car but I still love this one. The Germans know how to make sporty mixed with luxury but then you really pay for that. I always loved cars and loved driving but I never judge people for flipping cars or having opinions, we are lucky people to have choices, there are millions who can’t even find food
Congratulations on your new car! Some of us have it very good and are lucky to be able to experience different cars throughout a lifetime. I love cars and the uniqueness each on offers 😀
When i had my miata i always had the top down even in the rain unless it was pouring and i was stuck at a red light.... i never worried about the noise
I find some of your criticisms a little odd. Buy an MX5 then complaining it's noisy, cramped and there's too little storage space is like getting a dog then complaining that you have to pick up it's poop, or that it barks sometimes. Some things are just so obvious that complaining about them seems churlish. I had a Golf GTi from new that I bought in 2015. It was quick, very practical and capable, and did everything I needed. But it didn't make me smile, and it was just a car. The MX5 RF makes me laugh out loud when I'm driving it on a fast road.
Forsure you didn’t feel the connection with the Miata or with 2 seats cars, for every car you can find other better car but…first you must search what you looking for what (car feelings) I have a mx5 nc turbocharged and I feel wonderful every time with this car ❤
Your video format and tutorials have been very helpful with my build on my ND1. Ultimately helped me decide on my coil overs. Thank you for the mx5 content!
I've had an nd for 2 years I love it I live on a gravel road and had no problems interstate travel it's perfect as long as you are okay with the wind noise it has never bothered me the back road that are curvy makes the car so much fun
Wow, some ppl here are really salty. Coincidentally, I have a white 2018 2.0 Accord Sport, and just got a 2022 MX-5 club a month ago. A lot of ppl dislike the stock seats, but they're one of my favorite things about the interior. I'm about 5'11 175 lbs, and another passenger who is much shorter and stockier also found them to be comfortable, although I think your egg seat analogy was accurate. To me it's a fun 2nd car only, and despite how much I like it, even if I was single I could never use a Miata as a daily.
There’s always a little “salt” in the recipe 🤷♂️😂. Nice choice of cars 😎. I think the seats also bothered me more with it being a manual transmission, as it forced my legs in a position to work the clutch pedal. If it was auto, I would have been able to shift my leg position.
One thing's certain, its never been more difficult - these dealers will not negotiate because they know someone will gladly take our place and pay too much if we (or I) back out. The economy is tanking - maybe "patience" is the ultimate key when dealers no longer have the upper hand and can sell cars as easily as they are doing today (many with up to 1 year waiting times). . .I love your way and style of presenting videos. You are a natural at it and I will continue to stay tuned for the new vehicle you choose to fill your garage. Your MX-5 videos have been an enormous help - thanks so much for doing them.
Waiting may be a good option - if you have the patience 😉. Thank you for the kind words and support. I really appreciate it 😁. Hopefully you won’t be disappointed by the new car - I think you may end up liking the color 🤫
As a wannabe future mx5 rf owner, it's important to listen to both sides of the discussion. It's just such a good value for a sports car compared to similar offerings from other companies you can't help but want one.
Do you drive it top down on the freeway or something? I only drive my RF with top closed on the freeway, and it’s pretty quiet. However I added sound deadening throughout which was well worth it (cheap) and surprised you didn’t try that. But yeah overall it’s noisier than most modern cars. Personally the leather seats I have in the RF haven’t bothered me at all. Pretty comfy. As you’ve probably found.. most cars that beat the Miata are significantly pricier and often don’t have manual shift , but will be interested what you choose
Nice write up. In a previous video, I shared my terrible experience with the ND (2106) transmission (s). I agree with many of your reasons to move on from the car. Some of the things that would make the ND better for me include power (my previous 6-speed convertible was a 2013 Mustang GT) and a reduction in road noise. I certainly don't expect 420HPs on a Miata, but 200 to 220 would make it outstanding and should be achievable. As far as noise, the Mustang GT was a lot quieter, top up or down, without as much road noise, mechanical noise, or top rattles. Granted the Mustang was a good 1000 lbs heavier, but still, I never considered wearing ear plugs with the Pony. On the other hand, for the amount of money I paid for a used ND, I can live with most of the shortcomings, at least for now, not too many convertibles with a manual speed out there at that price point. Looking forward to see what you get next in place of the MX-5!
The reasons for selling are totally understandable. My ND is a 3rd car, so I can live with a lot of the compromises and “enjoy” more of a raw sports car. new tires + suspension + FM ish spec alignment made it much much quieter road noise wise. I still plan on slapping some sound deadening on the wheel wells, behind the seats, on the floor pan, trunk, and possibly the doors. Anyway, I’d really like to see a GR86 on the channel. They interest me quite a bit. If I didn’t want a convertible, I’d have one. I think it will respond very well to the types of mods that you do and provide a lot of content. It pretty much lands in the middle of performance of Miata and boxster out of the box
It's a good car, but not perfect. Sure it has issues, but that's the beauty of owning a highly modifiable car. Pretty much every dislike you mentioned can be remedied instantly by aftermarket parts. And trust me, there is a vast market and parts availability for this car. However it seems like you've owned an excessive amount of cars in a very short space of time. From an outside perspective, I would say that it's not the car thats the problem. That's not a negative conclusion on my behalf, but maybe it's something you aren't aware of. I know for a fact if I sold my RF I'd be gutted because what else is out there for the money? Performance, economy, looks, convertible ability, aftermarket support?? It's a car that just makes sense, and it's harder to let go of the longer I own it. I've seen a few people on yt sell their miata, and they actually regret doing so after only 1 week. But yeah, hopefully you find a car you truly like 👍
Seems as if half the reviews state or say that the RF (while opened) is louder at highway speed, and other reviews say that the soft top convertible is louder - who knows what to believe, could be that both models are equally as loud? Would like to know before I purchase one if there is a definitive and conclusive answer. . .
I would highly recommend you test drive both to determine for yourself. I’ve driven several soft tops as well as my own RF and would say it’s a different type of wind noise. The RF with its buttresses causes a different type of noise.
Good video! I really like the way you explained everything with all tiny issues. BUT i was only on your channel for this car and all the super helpful videos you were posting. As now the car is gone I'm gone too brother. Thanks 😊
Me too, loved watching you talk through your upgrade decisions “along with you” on the Mx-5, but I didn’t watch the accord videos. I would have loved you to have been a long hauler Mx-5 owner with us!!! - but I understand your reasoning. Good luck.
I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on driving fun, playfulness and excitement between the 718 and ND. I've been debating an ND vs a 981 / 718 Boxster for a long time. It's a shame there's been so little progress with ND2 supercharging / turbo. I know BBR do a super 220 kit that revs to 8000 and does 0-60 in a little over 5 seconds. I don't know if that's enough of a difference to feel? I've really enjoyed me test drives in the ND. I am concerned about the transmission though and I do think it could use a bit more power and definitely more body control. Between nicer wheels, new breaks, new exhaust, forced induction / tuning, suspension you could easily burn £10,000 extra on the MX-5. Then it becomes the price of a base Boxster. The things that have annoyed me when looking around to buy one is the lack of paint quality / durability and the lack of leather quality / durability. They also became stupidly more expensive in the past few years - about £5000-£6000 more!
You are stealing pretty much every thought I've had about the Miata and how I also started considering a 981 boxster s but everything is so pricey that I just gave up. Now I'm considering a used 230i convertible (F30). Ample tunes and mods available and it's half the price of a used 981 boxster. That zf transmission is super fast, you get tiny seats to put a car seat or some jackets in the back. It ain't no mid-engine beauty like a boxster but given the market conditions, it'll have to do.
That would be a whole other video! The two cars, are very different. The Porsche is a precision machine, which most people will never use 8/10 of its capabilities. There's not much you can, or rather should do to change it... chances are if you do, you'll ruin the car - it's that near to being perfect! The Miata, is fun, and dynamic tossable, and modifications will change it's behavior / dynamics to suit the owner.
@@TheLemonFactor Hey Chad, I should've clarified, that response was meant for the commenter - Made In Machines. Boxster's are lovely and don't need a lot of modification to make it a true daily driver, but they're all overpriced right now. Which is why I was recommending the 230i convertible, as you can still modify it (quite the aftermarket support) and still have fun. Let me start off by saying that I am REALLY happy that someone felt the same way I did about the Miata and more importantly, said it out loud in a forum. Again, the car itself isn't at fault but it's a combination of factors a big portion of it is ourselves (seeking comfort over sportiness, etc). I've enjoyed a lot of your Miata videos, and have always weighed the effort and expenses to the power/speed increase, and to me, it didn't make sense. There's finally superchargers on the horizon (from FAB9 and Edelbrock) but we never know if and when it'll be fully baked in, may take a year from now. I'll post a more detailed comment shortly as to why I am considering selling mine.
😂 so was my comment. Sorry for the confusion, it was meant for Made In Machines. With that said, thanks for your understanding regarding the video itself. Seems like a few people got all bent out of shape from it 🤷♂️.
@@TheLemonFactor I wouldn't take comments from them to heart. Everyone's on a different part of their life journey. I remember swearing "I'll never drive automatics and will be the last standing champion for stick shifts in the world" 🙂Life has a funny way of making you eat your own words. I've seen even 50+ year olds driving a Miata and maybe I'm not that person. More power to them, but for me (and you), Miata isn't always the answer.
I currently own an ND RF and I LOVE it! I don't drive it as much as I should but it's an excellent toy / 3rd car and it is irreplaceable if you value that type of driving experience. It's so compromised in some areas that it is fantastic in others, and that's just the way I choose to look at it. Where did you get that Miata shirt?
@@TheLemonFactor - I have wondered the same thing. Hope to sit in one someday and find out. That said, the red piping on the Recaros would clash with my Terra Cotta (not sure if what they call it) interior. Sigh…
Miata is always the answer, the thing is u have to own those cars that ur mind tells u is better, to find out nothing can replace the miata, u can get another car thats fun in another way, but cant be nearly as fun as the miata. The miata is irreplacable I would just get another car to enjoy on the side never can anything replace the miata, and thats what I did, I already had a c63 and kept it when I bought my miata, if I really had to choose between them, miata all day its a no brainer. The c63 is fun in its own way, to just drift and fly while hearing that orgasmic sound but the miata is just too damn fun to drive in twisties.
Really disagree with the seat comfort one - I feel the seats are extremely comfortable, but that might be because i was coming from a 15 year old beat up Ford Focus. Thanks for all of the videos you made with the Miata. You never know, you might be back again for one in the future. Miatas tend to be very contagious!
I too have a 2019 Miata, bought new. Mine is the base model Sport with the convertible top and manual 6-speed. Like you I’m 3.5 years into ownership. It’s parked underground with a dust cover. At 18k miles it’s cherry. I could sell it for close to what I paid for it. That RF targa top when up is only a couple dB quieter than the convertible top. When down, the rear bolsters cause serious buffeting at highway speeds. On the freeway with top up I use noise cancelling earbuds wirelessly linked to my iPhone, so I can listen to podcasts and Google Maps directions and still hear what’s going on around me, with wind and road noise greatly reduced. My car has no “mechanical looseness.” There is some cowl shake over bumps because it’s a convertible. At 5’10” I’m right-sized for the car. Six-footers would find it tight. You’re right, other drivers can miss you in traffic, especially pickups and SUVs. I never drive in somebody’s blind spot, and in traffic am vigilant about encroaching vehicles. The Miata’s trunk is not large but is a very usable boxy space. I can get a week’s groceries into it. If traveling there’s room for all my stuff. If going two-up you have to pack carefully. It’s a sports car! True, there’s not much lumbar support in the stock seats. I fixed that with a $25 lumbar support cushion, black so it is nearly invisible. The ND2 generation Miata gets to 60 in under 6 seconds and tops 130 mph. If that isn’t fast enough for you on public roads, maybe your driving is putting others at risk. The ND2 engine is hot-rodded from the factory, which is how it gained 21 hp over its predecessor. Emission tests (here in California) will catch a forced induction system and void registration renewal. Yep, the Supra sounds like just the right car for you. Happy trails.
Close, but not ready to reveal yet. It's been difficult to not only decide on what I'd like (I know, premium problems), but also be able to get it at a fair price (with the market being the way it is), and availability - the same issues you're going through.
Hello, Thanks for answering. . .I'm in a difficult situation. I have a $500.00 hold (deposit) on a 2022 Soft top Club (allocation in transit). It's only one in maybe five blue ones still left in the country and only one left in my state. However, here comes the "but" - the dealership wants $5K over MSRP and is selling the car for $37K. It's a base soft top Club with cloth seats. If I don't take the car, I will have to wait well in to next year before any blues arrive in my area. Tough dilemma. I really feel as if I'm being ripped off. Then again, Mazda may not even bring back the blue color next year, plus there are all of the chip and supply issues, etc.. What do you think? Should I take it while I can even at $5 over MSRP?
That is a difficult situation. Only you can decide if the $5k markup is worth it. There's also an option to buy somewhere else and either drive the car back, or have it shipped, which either option should cost less than the $5k assuming you buy the car at MSRP. Like you said, you could also wait, which may give you time to also see if the car market cools off a bit. Have you considered buying used?
@@TheLemonFactor Yes, I considered used and almost purchased a blue 2021 with only 3K miles from Carmax- two problems: one, the Carfax showed the car was tracked (constant changing of break pads and oil - yes, with only 3 k miles) two: newer used cars with very low mileage are not "much" cheaper than new. I checked nationwide - some dealers will not sell out of state, others were marked up even higher than what I am paying here, and the rest were already sold (still advertised with deposit holds) - no luck for me nationwide; remember it's got to be "blue" only which happens to be my biggest issue. . .I love your ideas though. . .
@@TheLemonFactor That's an idea. I can tell you that it's only a 50/50 chance that I go through with this deal. But if I renege on the deal, they claim my $500 deposit is non refundable, but who knows what I decide to do. No reason for all of the extreme greed with these dealerships. Oh, there are dealerships selling at MSRP in my area only I do not like any of the colors.
Found your videos helpful when upgrading my Nd2 RF so thank you. Disappointed to see you go.. Agree with some of your dislikes but as I'm sure other people have stated when you look at the price point and intended use of the Miata it is pretty good. Almost perfect even.. Wish you well in future endeavors.. If you get a Supra I may come back as this car is on my short list if I ever leave Miata life lol.
Just one other thing how many miles do you have what did you have? I bought my Miata in September and I have 14,500 miles on it already and I don’t notice any mechanical noises.
I totally agree and sympathize with you although some of my reasons are different: 1. Main reason I sold mine was - cheap feeling interior. I couldn't get over the cheap feeling carpets, cheap plastics used for the interior, especially the ones around the centre console where you can put your hand through the wide gaps. I actually liked the stock seats 😊. 2 - the lack of space/storage. The car has only space for a weekend or to be used as a track car/ fun car. This means is can't be your only car. That was a massive issue for me as I mainly wanted to use the car for roadtrips around Europe. The car doesn't have enough space for 2 as stated in the video. I've done 2 long roadtrips in Europe and both me and my passenger suffered because the lack of space. 3 - too noisy high-speeds with top up or down. While I was ok initially, the road noise started to get to me in last year of ownership ( 2y total). The noise in the car was so loud you have to shout to carry a normal conversation. 4 - got too expensive. Not reason why I sold it but , not great for first owners. When I bought my first ND Miata in 2016 I paid 24k £ in UK for the top trim. Now the top trim is 34K and it got heavier. For a fun car for the weekend/ track is quite an expensive toy, especially considering it can't be your only vehicle ( not for me at least). I really wanted to love the car, it has some fantastic features and offers an amazing driving experience in some ways but in others imho, it failed to deliver so I had to let it go. PS Additionally, I was very disappointed also with the high repair cost to replace the roof. My soft top has been slashed and they quoted me £1500 for the repair😢. That was the final straw for me. Overall it's a great driver's car but it's just not good enough for me to be the only car. Because of high taxes in the UK I don't want to own 2.
Thanks for leaving your comment - I think many viewers think I’m bashing the Miata, which I’m not. It is a fun car, but it might not be for everyone 🤷♂️
Searching through the sales ads, there obviously are many ppl selling their RFs after relatively short time (1 up to 3 years) or little use (round about 20.000 km). In my impression, this does not seem to be the same with the Convertible...
I wish there was more people like you great enthusiast that car about the car but if it’s not working for them that’s completely fine bc the resale will make it more accessible to younger drivers!!! Love the content brother hope you get your Supra !!🎉
The Miata is definitely a great car, and I can see why so many people like it, but it just didn’t fit what I was looking for 🤷♂️. Thanks for your support. 😁
I was going to sell mine for a used cayman . I watched a video on a guy who bought one with 40 K on it and in 2 years he spent a small fortune on repairs and maint . Yes on the promblems with adding power to the Miata . I’m growing partial to the Manuel Supra but will we really be able to get one . The Carolla is going to be hard to get as well .
Hey, thank you for an honest long term review that actually helps me more then 1 week journalist ownerships... I myself am looking to buy a new MX 5, my very first rear wheel drive car. Reasons why, is that i love the looks, it will not kill me like the 'tame' 2l Supra in every day use and i am kinda tired of everybody taking advantage of me and nothing screams F Off like a 2 seater with no space 😏 and i already did a test drive with it so i know it is a lil epic car, even seeing the hood made me think i was driving a Jaguar E type, the dash and that cocoon feeling made me feel special, i loved it! The only thing i hated was my struggle with the best shifter i have ever experienced because of an old accident i need automatic i struggle to much with a bad foot. BUT the seats yeah, they suck! So for a daily driver is a MX 5 automatic something that i will regre you think? It is hard to find decent reviews for automatics.. My alternative is a Cupra Leon but that is ofc not a sports car... Thx for any input you give me
I forgot to add that in my country the Yaris GR sold out, the BRZ and his Toyota brother not available, the new Nissan Z not available, only MX 5 and Supra is available for normal incomes... That is why i have been looking at Hyundai I30 N, VW Polo GTI and similair type of cars.. Another thing i forgot to add is that i want to use it to visit family that live 2800 km away i think that is like 1600 miles, i have np making comprimese but feeling like 90 years old when i get out of the car is too much of a comprimise 😅
That’s a difficult decision 🤔. I found that one of the reasons I liked the Miata so much was the manual transmission… not just the engagement and feel, but how you can control the dynamics of the car using the manual. I will tell you having driven my Supra cross country ~1800 miles, I was surprisingly comfortable (or at least content). I would never consider driving a Miata that distance, but hey, that’s me 🤷♂️. Good luck with your decision - I’d love to hear what you end up with 😁
@@TheLemonFactor thank you for the reply! Once my divorce is final and i am forced to sell my current car a very good car but a bit boring (a Nissan Qashqai) i will defently tell you😁😉
I like it when my Miata jumps the rails and oversteers, Grip is good for racing but it isn't as much fun. I've been spoiled by RWD, I would never consider a FWD.
Have enjoyed all your videos. Understand your reasons, to each their own brother. Recently purchased an nd2 club soft top, as a 3rd car for fun. Had a 2013 PRHT...night and day difference with the nd2. All the shortcomings I accept, since my purpose for the Miata is to have fun....for me, the noise and lack of creature comforts adds to the joy of driving this somewhat unrefined street legal go-cart. Cheers 🍻
Chad found your channel when I purchased my MX5 in early 2020. I had previously owned a 04 Mazdaspeed turbo that I purchased new in 04. Anyways always liked the MX5 and certainly understand your decision to sell. I also sold my 19 for 6K more than I paid originally and moved on to a 718 6 speed…Mazda was great but obviously my 718 is better. BTW still subscribed keep up the content and looking forward to the next car you purchase.👍🏼
The Miata isn't for everyone. The "space" issue is not a lie. Do not joke with yourself here. Yes there are custom soft bags (I own them) yes you can fit more than people think and no golf clubs (plural) don't fit. Yes with some cutting and stripping you can cram 1 bag in but it's unnerving. Let this one go he is right it's not a large car or large trunk. I went from a very powerful Mustang GT and a club racer of a Mini JCW Clubman pushing 100hp more than an ND2. I am fine with the changes I made and the power I got out of the Miata 172hp 162ft/lbs and 7250rpm+ out of my ND1 feels amazing. Is it like my old cars? No, but it's great and is enough to make me happy. Chad here it wasn't enough. You know what? That's ok. Go get a slightly used 2016 Honda Accord Sport 2.0T manual and mod the crap out of it and haul all your stuff around. Make yourself happy. Buy not just what you want but what you need. I have fixed every gripe with my ND1 except the golf club situation. I am actually almost done with that fix. There is a luggage trunk rack that comes with 2 external golf bag cases. Crazy right? But honesty here. Chad needs to do what's best for Chad.
Beautiful car, But sold my 2020 BBR Club. Little uncomfortable after an hour of driving. 5’11” 210lbs. The engine was a bit of a disappointment. Needs a turbo. I had 04 Mazdaspeed Miata. It was a great street car. The extra turbo torque made it drive better. Maybe if it was a little bigger and had more power. I will buy another one Hopefully new Z will be a convertible. Cheers
It really comes down to how much you value a light weight rwd sports car and how much you value a more comfortable and/or powerful GT. I’ve owned half dozen BMWs (most recently an m235 w manual) and the car prior to my ‘21 Club was a 981 boxster s. None of them provided the flingability of this car. My gr86 does, but even the 981 boxster felt portly next to the Miata. I’d gladly trade brute power for the level of engagement that typically only comes with a light car. Fortunately for me, I don’t share any of your gripes. It’s a second car for me for a reason. I’d recommend a gr86 before getting a pimped up Corolla for $50k
I'm surprised you did not mention the 2023 Nissan Z. Your next videos should be testing driving the Toyota Supra, Nissan Z, and Porsche Cayman GTS. Good luck on next selection. I look forward to see which that is.
The Porsche Cayman GTS is in another league... and price category! Given the reviews that have come out on the Nissan Z, I'm not impressed. I'm becoming more partial to the Toyota GR Supra, then maybe the Toyota GR Corolla.
I got an ND2 soft top recently, and all of your criticisms are either things that don't apply to me, things I don't think are so bad, or things I'd outright disagree with. Which is fine; we want different things out of our cars, but primarily, I think that the only way you can be happy is either with a more expensive car, or one that can't put its top down. Miata is always the answer because what you get for what it costs, pound for pound, beats everything else on the market. And anywhere you can do better, you only do better in exchange for a relative shortcoming somewhere else. The "too small for other drivers to see" issue goes away if you drive like you're riding a motorcycle. Luckily, I have a motorcycle endorsement!
just bought a 2020 Club 3 days ago. Everything you stated I was well aware of. The Recaro seats are certainly not hollow/soft feeling. They also lack in lower lumbar support. Totally different than the base seats, but also rough for any long trips.
I test drive one at my friends mazda lot and I loved it. Was really ready to get it, glad I didnt. The next day my rearend was killing and my sciata was raging. The seat was just as bad if not worst then a go kart. It has no ergonomics. As you get older this becomes very very important. Went with my 2020 WRX which is supreme comfort and I actually sit up right. Maybe a Lotus might be in my cards or an old Audi TT but Mazda seats need alot of improvement.
I'm sorry to hear that. However, at the same time your comment is reassuring as I was beginning to believe I was the only one that had issue with the seats.
Hi Chad, I’m sad to hear your mx5 RF is sold, I too have had the same concerns. I’m thinking about the Corolla GR but it a Corolla… and looks ugly to me.. All the best to you and thanks for your help and showing me how to mod my mx5 RF… I’m still in corner buddy, we share a common passion to find the best ride.
Purchased ND RF GT. Car is too low, loud, seat not as comfortable...we knew going in... but all that fades away whe you open up the top. Definitely not recommend for being the only car for the family. But it is a great 2nd or 3rd car.
I'm shopping for my first sport car. I've always shop car necessary at the time or family car. But I want my own "manly" vehicle. With that said. I want a well rounded vehicle in terms of fuel mileage, reliability, torque, performance, easy to work on myself, low cost of ownership, and overall fun. Miata was the answer for me, until I saw the 2023 Honda Type R.
I currently own a i30N but sadly have to replace it in a year. The MX5 is the only car on your list that is sub 40k€ in Germany and can be ordered new as used cars are crazy expensive. At the same time you confirme most of the points i fear could put me of the MX5. It is quit sad that affordable drivers cars seem to be near extinct.
It's so true - cars, both new and old are becoming so expensive, outpacing inflation by a large margin. Having a "newer" car is becoming a luxury item, taking up a larger portion of an individual's / family's income than every before.
@@TheLemonFactor Exactly, my N was 32500 new 3 years ago. Some used ones now go for near 30k which is just insane. The average yearly salary in Germany is about 45k. So after you would basically blow more than a years worth of salary on even an MX5.
Sounds like you need to research your vehicles much further in depth prior to purchase. The Miata isn’t for everyone, no - but some of your concerns seem... ill researched or thought out, imo. The trunk should be “fine” for most backpack weekends for two people. Not sure what kind of stuff you’re trying to pack for a quick 1-3 day trip? The car is low powered, but that pairs with the low weight. You did some mods too, so I am surprised it still wasn’t that enjoyable for you. As an RF owner as well, I don’t typically go 85+ with the top down - seems.. fairly dangerous, but no wonder you may be getting wind buffeting. To that point, you may want to really research the Supra before potentially purchasing - they have big issues with wind buffeting from just having the windows down, as well as pretty rough ingress/egress, perhaps worse than a Miata. As for the trans, you had an ND2 - which is considered to be the better and more refined transmission, so not sure where the paranoia is for having it blow. That said, 2 things to that point - 1. They aren’t that expensive to replace, at all. Last I checked, its “only” $1200 for a new one. 2. The ND2 has the better trans than the ND1, but even then, I don’t know too many people who blew the ND1 by now, but yes, I know it does happen. To me, it sounds like you really need to explore a Boxster or a Cayman - it will hit most of your concerns - luxury, quiet, cargo room, and more power. The M series mini cars seem... to be only good in a straight line, and I truly think you would need to fully explore the negatives of the Supra. May want to consider a new Nissan Z as well. As someone else suggested, it sounds like the Miata just simply isn’t a good fit for you, and that’s OK! But most of your concerns could have been flushed out with more research, or in the case of the top down wind noise, not sure that’s safe to begin with for extended periods of time, and that’s coming from someone who does autox and track days. Best of luck with the next one, but I think you would really love a P-Car!
Meh. ND2 solves transmission issue. The other points: you don’t want a true sports car, you want a GT /Coupe. You want a bigger car, with more power, back seats, comfort, and more luggage space. With a manual.
Funny. I have a 2018 rf and have been thinking about selling it and buying the new supra. What is holding me back is that i can drice the miata flat out go wild in corners without having to drive at crazy speeds. Im afraid i wont get the same fun factor in the supra unless i drive stupid fast. Im still in doubt of wat to do.
@@TheLemonFactor The only issue I have with my 2020 is the lack of power. Its looks supersede its power. It should have at least 225 to the wheel. I'm actually going to be purchasing a 2021 Supra 3.0 once the manual gets released and the prices go down. I want to try to find a way to keep both though because I do love it.
Gonna miss the videos for it, but I could tell you felt defeated by it or at least that's how it seemed. Hondas/ Toyotas, and the rest of the car market has much higher power potential- and that's fair, the miata is a momentum car, not meant to be a Supra fighter or etc etc. But good luck man, and if you get a Z or something close too then awesome!
I just checked out the Supra, in Canada it's $25,000 more (MSRP) than the MX-5... way out of my financial league. Good looking car though, if you've got the scratch.
The miata is a great second or 3rd car to own its mission in life is the joy of driving. However I do agree when the compromises get too hard to handle its not a bad idea to move on. Personally you might enjoy the new nissan z car, more room, more power, very much a gt car. You may miss the nimbleness and the handling in the nd 2 miata but at least the resale is good 👍 btw I own 2 of them a new nd2 and the orginal na m class miata. Thankyou for your informed approach on ownership and also the upgrades / mods you have tested and reviewed!
You’re welcome, Robert! Thank you for the support. I have considered the new Nissan Z, but what I’ve seen from reviews so far, the Toyota GR Supra is winning out 😁
This is what i needed to hear. Cos it's such a handsome car, was def eyeing it up. I have a mazda 3 where if i spend more than hour driving it it feels like I am getting stabbed in the shoulders. Seems like I could expect the same from MX5.
My soft top ND sounded like a tin can so I put in sound damping and it mostly went away. Other things that made it quieter which I didn't know was gonna do it was under body cover. Once I put the whole bottom cover it reduce road noise as much as the sound deadening material. The under cover also reduce exhaust noise too. The only real noise now is wind from the rag top and a little mechanical noise. I love the cloth, hammock feeling seat..it felt much better than the leather Recaro.
Thank you for all your MX5 videos, I will come back to them when I do some upgrades on my MX5 on my own. I agree with your MX5 car alternatives, if ever I would upgrade myself I would highly consider the Toyota GR Supra and M2. As much as I love the manual transmission, the automatic transmissions has grown so much that it adds to the experience. If I would have more budget, I would also look at the Porsche Cayman GTS. Happy shopping :)
I like the video but overall, can't help but ask why. Its a Miata, you kind of know what it is and what you sacrifice to drive it, Besides the seats, the rest of the criticism are like "well of course, what did you expect." And definitely understand the speed criticism but honestly, its not slow but its a momentum car, not meant to be fast, just being able to maintain the speed while cornering better than any other car on the road. As for you're next car, I really hope you can get a GR Corolla if you're interested, interested the channel would sky rocket
This vid is very useful - thank you very much! Years ago, I made the same experience (i.e. not to be respected in the traffic because of the smallness of the car) with the little city-fun-car named StreetKa made by Ford, coloured in silver. (A red one perhaps would have gotten more attention and respect by other drivers I suppose.) Anyway, everyone passing by was looking at that car and none of them without smiling! 😏 Now, I think about buying a Miata ND (Convertible or RF) for everyday-driving. Besides the decision necessary to made between soft- and hardtop I still do not have many experiences with rear-wheel driven cars. Thus, what does it mean and how does it feel to drive the MX-5 on rainy days on slippery roads? I myself (a woman) do not have the need to slide through curves. To be honest, I'm afraid that might happen although I do not want it to. Concerning this point, which model of the MX-5 would be the "safest" one? Is there a smaller probability that this will happen with a car less powerful or is power (PS) out of concern to this fact? Apart from that, what are your experiences with parking the MX-5 outside? (In the city I live it's very difficult to rent a garage...)
Perfectly said brother I owned 6 Miatas. They were fun but the reality is all cars are now fast and getting on the highway is a PIA. Nd2 even with the Fab 9 tune was not enough. Go with a b58 powered ride. They are truly on another level and need minimal for massive power gains.
@@TheLemonFactor 10 cubic feet compared to almost 5 cubic feet. Kinda splitting hairs there. And you'll still not be seen by other drivers, which is my concern as well having a 22 miata. But I get it, you want something new. Get the stick Supra if that's the car you chose.
If I had the money, I would own a 911. But because I don't, I own an MX5 RF g184 2021. And I'm aware of the differences. And I can live with it very very well.
I have the Recaro package...no issues with support. You bought the car with expectations of something else (IE: speed). You are complaining about noise, but added noise with a mid-pipe, exhaust, and tune. The Miata isn't for everyone...that's true especially when you try to make it something it's not. Stock suspension...no weird noises come out of my car backing out of my driveway or anywhere else. I have a truck if I need trunk space. Good luck with whatever car you choose.
My guess is that you're a passerby and not a subscriber as your comments indicate that you really don't have any clue regarding the 3yr history I've had with the car. Just to point out a couple things... the car has a fully stock exhaust. No, the tune does not make your car louder. The mechanical noises made from this car have been there from the start, don't blame any of the suspension changes. The Miata is a great car, but not a perfect car, and certainly not for everyone. I believe people should be fully aware of both the good and bad, so that they can make a decision for themselves, and that's what I've attempted to do with all my videos. Why it seems that some Miata owners can't take constructive criticism and accept that the Miata is not for everyone is beyond me.
Supra is a bmw and the bmw is a bmw. None are as special as the nd. I own a nd2 30th ae. Been thinking hard about selling but can't pull the trigger. I too want more power but the cost of those others and possible maint costs. I just can't. Although I do want a c8 but 100k+ is kinda crazy. Prices will settle one day.
Chad, Sorry to see your no longer driving a Miata. I have enjoyed some of your videos and hoped to see more but I'm not like some of these other Miata owners. If you don't feel it's for you anymore, then so be it. Isn't it funny how, when you were making the videos and talking about your experiences, some of these people just loved you. Then you decide you no longer like the car, how they quickly crap on you. Kind of childish and silly in my book. Any way.... I am curious about why you didn't consider a newer MX-5. I drive a 2021 ND2 RF GT and it has more power from the factory then the 2019 did and you can get a newer MX-5 with Recaro Seats. From what I hear, while the 2023 and 2024 don't have more power than my year model, they do have other refinements with regard to traction control and steering refinements. While this doesn't address all your issues, it is an improvement to some of them. If the decision was really more about the power limitation, I get it. Most of the other issues were just added fodder. The one issue I can agree on is the slight trunk space and storage provided. For me it isn't huge problem because I seldom travel with a passenger, and I drive this more like a daily driver most of the time. There have been a few times when I've needed a little more space like when I was taking my side skirts and the front spoiler for to be painted and then mounted. For the most part I just plan accordingly when it comes to that sort of stuff. As you stated in your video, it really is about the driving experience for these cars. Most of us live with the lack of power even if we secretly wish for more, but we understand they are not made for all out speed. Quickness and agility in cornering is what we have a thirst for, and these cars excel in that even with the lack of power. I guess I'm saying I understand your issue with the lack of power, but respectfully disagree that it is an issue with regard to how it is a flaw in the car as it is designed. It really isn't designed to be a powerhouse as you know. The fun is in handling. As a ridge runner and canyon carver it's more than powerful enough to make you pucker. I always smile as I dart around a corner and lean into the roller-coaster ride I'm enjoying. Straight line and interstate dashing are not my thing. That's a different kind of fun and requires a different kind of power. So, if that's more to your liking I'm sure you new car will be better for you. Have fun either way that what it all boils down to.
As the car gets use over the years you will find the road feel/suspension may change. Things may rattle more there may be more wind noise, etc. that said, everything else seem like issues that could have been avoided early on by simply leasing first #savethemanuals
@@gigi9467 I'm a mainly back road type of guy long straights. While it was fun on the twisties, I did wish it had a little bit more punch like an S2000
Hi there, I know exactly where you sold it probably for the same reasons of me they're just too damn small I am surprised you sold yours because the amount the money and attention you spent on it. So good luck with whatever you replace it with cheers Phil from Newark
@@shakur144 Which one would you recommend, the rf or the soft top ? I'm on the fence here
@@TRiBaL1981 I can't say, I didn't drive the softtop yet. January 2023 I let you know 🤣
Mazda kinda acknowledged the tranny’s potential issues by going with a dual mass flywheel in the ND2.
Lol it’s fun to go on the highway top down windows down blasting music feels like you are going 170 when your going 90
Congratulations on the new car! 👍
I just ordered a 2024 (with the new improvements, making it an ND3, and here are my answers for all of your complaints (thanks for sharing them btw):
Congratulations on your new Miata! Looks like it’s a perfect compliment to the powerhouse, your ZL1 😎😁👍
I’m glad to hear that you found the videos helpful - thank you for leaving such a positive and supportive comment 👍😁
The Japanese will never go the TURBO way !
?… Mazda RX7, Mazdaspeed3, Toyota GR Corolla, Honda Accord…. 🤷♂️
Buy a 124 spider , mx5nd underpinning in an Italian suit
That’s a good way to look at it 👍. It’s a great value, and I certainly enjoyed it, but it was time to move on 🤷♂️
Do you drive it top down on the freeway or something? I only drive my RF with top closed on the freeway, and it’s pretty quiet. However I added sound deadening throughout which was well worth it (cheap) and surprised you didn’t try that. But yeah overall it’s noisier than most modern cars.
Personally the leather seats I have in the RF haven’t bothered me at all. Pretty comfy.
As you’ve probably found.. most cars that beat the Miata are significantly pricier and often don’t have manual shift , but will be interested what you choose
This "grass is greener" phenomenon happened to me. You'll end up buying another Miata😄.
Love the videos!
Possibly, but I don’t think so 🤷♂️
Nice write up.
Bro what’s your racing crew?
I believe that's its realistic purpose, not your primary daily
I’m sure the new owner is very happy now, as you were three years ago. That’s the point! Thanks for so many interesting videos!
You’re right, I’m sure it’ll make someone very happy! Thank you for your support of the channel 👍😁
no open top experience with the alternatives. was it your only car? i mean daily?
It was not my only car
Thanks 😊
👍
Me too, loved watching you talk through your upgrade decisions “along with you” on the Mx-5, but I didn’t watch the accord videos. I would have loved you to have been a long hauler Mx-5 owner with us!!! - but I understand your reasoning. Good luck.
Thank you, ZOOMNPA 😁👍
There’s a lot who share your sentiment 👍. I purchased the shirt directly from the Mazda website 😎
I want to ask for is Automatic transmission also weak as manual?
Please let us know.
I have not heard of any issues.
Hi Chad. What do you drive now? I drive 18 Accord and 22 Miata both 6 speed manual. Happened to wonder what would be your next choice of vehicle.
I still have the 2019 Honda Accord 2.0 👍. I replaced the Miata with a 2023 Toyota GR Supra 3.0 😁
Agreed on the seats. Mazda’s “hammock” design is terrible. I need to do special back exercises to prevent these seats from ruining my back.
I wonder if the Recaro seats have better support 🤔
@@TheLemonFactor - I have wondered the same thing. Hope to sit in one someday and find out. That said, the red piping on the Recaros would clash with my Terra Cotta (not sure if what they call it) interior. Sigh…
It definitely would clash 🤷♂️
🤷♂️ didn’t check enough of the boxes for me to keep it. It’s not for everyone!
@@TheLemonFactor why continue wearing the hat and shirt if its no longer for you
🤨 really? How old are you?
@@TheLemonFactor lol why are u upset. Just asking I find that very interesting.
You’re right, you never know 🤷♂️
I too have a 2019 Miata, bought new.
So have you decided what your next car will be? Was checking your vids but didn't find it. . .
Close, but not ready to reveal yet. It's been difficult to not only decide on what I'd like (I know, premium problems), but also be able to get it at a fair price (with the market being the way it is), and availability - the same issues you're going through.
Where’s the shirt from?
Direct from Mazda 👍😁
I checked nationwide - some dealers will not sell out of state, others were marked up even higher than what I am paying here, and the rest were already sold (still advertised with deposit holds) - no luck for me nationwide; remember it's got to be "blue" only which happens to be my biggest issue. . .I love your ideas though. . .
Just shooting out ideas... have you thought of buying a different color, but then wrapping the car in a blue that you like?
The dealership in my town said they will sell at MSRP. They have a gray RF club/with brembo recaro in stock. I’m located in east Texas .
Hi, I would want to know the best spark plugs for a stage three phearable tuned Honda. Do you have any recommendations or a link ?
Did you sell all your mods separately or with the car
Some I sold with the car.
Thank you for your support. I’m glad to hear that you found the videos helpful 👍. I’m becoming partial to the Toyota GR Supra 😉
Just one other thing how many miles do you have what did you have? I bought my Miata in September and I have 14,500 miles on it already and I don’t notice any mechanical noises.
I'm still mulling between the BMW M240i or the MX-5. I already have a 328i, and it's great, but I just think I need an impractical two seater.
Don’t get me wrong - the Miata is a lot of fun, just know what you’re getting, and giving up from the start and I’m sure you’ll be happy 👍😁
Why not the new Nissan Z?
th-cam.com/video/mrj5O11vhEs/w-d-xo.html
BMW Z4 is nice if you don’t mind no manual option. I was thinking of going that route but in the end I really wanted the stick shift
It’s a good looking car, but not worth what it’s priced at in my mind 😒
I found I get bored after two years with any car… my dream car was the 2016 BMW 640 GC. Got bored in 18 months
I’m that way too… I’ve always loved seeing / experiencing the differences each car brings 😃👍
Get a MIata and drive it like a hooligan, I have put 500,000 miles on Miatas and still get a hoot out of them.
I was going to sell mine for a used cayman . I watched a video on a guy who bought one with 40
K on it and in 2 years he spent a small fortune on repairs and maint . Yes on the promblems with adding power to the Miata . I’m growing partial to the Manuel Supra but will we really be able to get one . The Carolla is going to be hard to get as well .
I think both the 2023 Toyota GR Supra and Toyota GR Corolla are going to be a challenge to get 🤷♂️. Premium problems I guess 😁
Once my divorce is final and i am forced to sell my current car a very good car but a bit boring (a Nissan Qashqai) i will defently tell you😁😉
Mini Cooper JCW convertible is the answer. It's quick, has four seats, it's a convertible, handles like it's on rails and looks very cool.
Ehhhhhh, I’m not sure a Mini Cooper is my style 🤷♂️
@@TheLemonFactor Take one for a test drive. It is the one car that does it all with no compromises.
Cheers 🍻
Yes, to each their own 👍
Chad found your channel when I purchased my MX5 in early 2020.
Thank you for staying with the channel, Carl! 👍. The Porsche 718 really are great cars, expensive relative to the Miata, but excellent driver’s cars 😃
😉👍😁TY
Beautiful car, But sold my 2020 BBR Club. Little uncomfortable after an hour of driving. 5’11” 210lbs. The engine was a bit of a disappointment. Needs a turbo. I had 04 Mazdaspeed Miata. It was a great street car. The extra turbo torque made it drive better. Maybe if it was a little bigger and had more power. I will buy another one Hopefully new Z will be a convertible. Cheers
Hmmmm, considering the new Nissan Z huh 🤔. Any other cars on your list?
Congratulations on your new car, David! Enjoy 😉!
Thank you Tony! You’ve been a great supporter, and I really appreciate it 😁👍
Thanks for great MX-5 ND content.
Best wishes with your next car.
Thank you, Hans. I appreciate that 😁👍
Purchased ND RF GT. Car is too low, loud, seat not as comfortable...we knew going in... but all that fades away whe you open up the top. Definitely not recommend for being the only car for the family. But it is a great 2nd or 3rd car.
Enjoy 👍
You can get the Supra with a manual now. Or a new 86/BRZ.
It’s great to now have the manual transmission as an option now. Of course, how easy it will be to get one will be interesting to see. 🤷♂️
@@TheLemonFactor yeah, It's not going to be cheap if you can find it.
The new Type R is a compelling alternative, assuming you’re not set on getting a rear drive convertible 👍
The type R is not a sports car, I don't care who says so. No front wheel drive can be a sports car. Completely different driving dynamics.
😮
The RF is not a convertible! Plus the RF partial top down causes more noise that the soft top down.
Excellent point. It’s a huge reason why the Miata is so fun! But….
Wind noise? That's what the Bose system is for. Turn that shit up!
Wish the Bose system was good enough to listen to at speed with the top down - it’s severely lacking 🫤
The car market is crazy, not just with the limited supply, but with the “market adjusted” prices! 🤨
Same reasons I do not like my MX5. I will eventually trade for a 3, or Ecoboost Mustang.
Like I said, it’s not for everyone 🤷♂️
Gonna miss the videos for it, but I could tell you felt defeated by it or at least that's how it seemed. Hondas/ Toyotas, and the rest of the car market has much higher power potential- and that's fair, the miata is a momentum car, not meant to be a Supra fighter or etc etc.
But good luck man, and if you get a Z or something close too then awesome!
Thank you, J H! I appreciate your support and understanding.
Miata sold? We can’t be friends no more. *Files for divorce
🤣
I have considered the new Nissan Z, but what I’ve seen from reviews so far, the Toyota GR Supra is winning out 😁
If Miata's had say 250 HP it'd be a dream. 💯
That would be great! 😁
This is what i needed to hear.
Cos it's such a handsome car, was def eyeing it up.
I have a mazda 3 where if i spend more than hour driving it it feels like I am getting stabbed in the shoulders.
Seems like I could expect the same from MX5.
Don’t get me wrong… it’s a great car, but may not be for everyone 🤷♂️
You have to drive a Miata like you on a motorcycle..lol
Totally agree 👍
My soft top ND sounded like a tin can so I put in sound damping and it mostly went away. Other things that made it quieter which I didn't know was gonna do it was under body cover. Once I put the whole bottom cover it reduce road noise as much as the sound deadening material. The under cover also reduce exhaust noise too. The only real noise now is wind from the rag top and a little mechanical noise. I love the cloth, hammock feeling seat..it felt much better than the leather Recaro.
Sounds like the effort was worthwhile for you 👍
Thank you for all your MX5 videos, I will come back to them when I do some upgrades on my MX5 on my own.
Thank you! Appreciate the support. A Porsche Cayman GTS would be great, but way above what I want to spend. 🤷♂️
why do you require a manual trans. the computer can shift better in an auto trans than s human can ????
Some people enjoy the additional driving engagement, rowing through the gears of a manual transmission provides.
Thank you for the Miata videos , good luck 👋🏼
Thank you!!! I appreciate the comment and your support 👍😁
Now, I think about buying a Miata ND (Convertible or RF) for everyday-driving.
I’m seriously considering the GR Supra - getting one for a fair price may be a bit challenging 🙁
OK Supra....great choice, but it's small too and also has no storage.
I take it you’ve never been in a Supra? The storage in a Supra is substantially better than in the Miata!
The throttle response is tearable, the paint sucks. Lots of body roll.
I agree with you about the lack of power and the weak transmission. Otherwise I love my ND2 RF. Thanks for all your videos
Thank you, Patricio 👍
Supra is a bmw and the bmw is a bmw. None are as special as the nd. I own a nd2 30th ae. Been thinking hard about selling but can't pull the trigger. I too want more power but the cost of those others and possible maint costs. I just can't. Although I do want a c8 but 100k+ is kinda crazy. Prices will settle one day.
As a previous owner of a BMW, I do have mixed feelings, but the B58 engine is seriously potent 😎
Chad,
Sorry to see your no longer driving a Miata.
Just did the same thing with mine
Why
@@gigi9467 honestly lack of power options for the ND
@@Rizzy4magic yoy ever take ot to the track?
@@gigi9467 I'm a mainly back road type of guy long straights. While it was fun on the twisties, I did wish it had a little bit more punch like an S2000
Excluding tracks with a lot of straights the ND2 is faster than the s2000
In my opinion, I feel you talked yourself out of the car only because it wasn’t fast enough. And that’s ok. 😊
Hi there, I know exactly where you sold it probably for the same reasons of me they're just too damn small I am surprised you sold yours because the amount the money and attention you spent on it. So good luck with whatever you replace it with cheers Phil from Newark
Hi Phil! It’s been a while … thank you for the support 👍😁
Perhaps you would be happier with a Cadillac Escalade??
Hmmmm… I’ll consider it 🙄
I don’t know dude. You did all those mods and now you’re complaining it’s clunky…..
Considere the new Subaru BRZ or the Toyota GR 86.
It’s on the list, but it’s lacking the power I’m looking for in my next project car.
