All of the cars offer something more than the Mazda MX-5 Miata, but you're going to pay for it. The decision regarding whether that "something else" is worth the additional cost is up to the buyer.
I cross shopped the cayman, m2, and Supra and ended up with the Supra. It was the most sports car of the bunch. The Supra was just a better performer than the m2 and i thought the cayman was to tame and way more expensive. I really wanted to love the cayman but it’s just overhyped. I’d choose the cayman s if the same price as a Supra but it’s not. So back to the Supra, I’m actually selling my Supra now to get a mx5. The Supra is just too nice and comfortable. It’s a great performer but extremely numb. It has been as fast as my 2008 corvette I had before it but I enjoy it far less overall because of how numb it feels. I think the miata will be more of what I’m looking for after some suspension mods. I hope I’m not disappointed. I doubt I will be.
If I were you, I would not buy any of these cars. Audi, BMW, and Porsche have reputations for being extremely unreliable (decades of poor history) and the Toyota looks more suitable for teenagers with rich parents. Also, Toyota is going through ominous times with quality control and warranty related call-back issues. OBW, I love your MX-5 videos, you have excellent style and taste.
Having owned a Porsche in the past, I was very happy with it, and had no problems with reliability, same goes with my past BMW. I will say though that I had both from new and moved on after ~3yrs, so they certainly weren't old cars.
Found your channel today, but lost steam on this one. Cars on the list are way off when comparing. Just reading spec sheets. You have had good content in the past. Keep in that direction!
All the “alternatives” here are good cars but are they remotely close to the price point of the MX5?

Thanks for the video!
