FYI, anyone who is planning to purchase a Miata should definitely get a SCCA membership first. They have a partnership with Mazda that entitles members to Mazda S-Plan pricing. I saved about $1800 when I purchased my GT soft top in 2020, but the amount you'll save depends on the trim you buy. The more expensive the car, the bigger the discount. The national membership is only $80 and if you have a local SCCA club, it's typically an extra $10 to join that, so $90 total. Well worth it to get the discount and they sponsor a lot of auto cross and car show events that you will be able to participate in as a member.
The ND3 is actually a fairly extensive refresh, in my opinion, considering it's only got a few years left in its run. The mild hybrid NE is expected to arrive by 2027. The ND3 is getting upgraded 8.8in infotainment system, improved LSD, new all LED head and tail lights, new steering rack, track mode (Club and GT), etc. It's enough of an upgrade that I will be selling my ND2 GT and buying a ND3 GT before this generation is done, but I understand why some people don't think it's worth upgrading. The ND2 is already a fantastic car, but Mazda engineers understand that there is always room for improvement, and they want to reignite interest in the car for its last few years.
I’m excited for you, that sounds like a sweet Miata! I love my ND2, totally content with it. Especially now that I’ve started modding it, I don’t want to start over, lol. 😂
@@AutomotiveAnonymous208 I don’t have much of a choice with ordering the ND3 in Australia there are none left. Nobody’s really selling and the dealerships are all out
You know the ND3 and all the other numbers like nc1. Nc2 nd1 nd2 are just what people are calling them. Not Mazda. I went into a Mazda dealership and asked for a ND3 they didn’t know what I was talking about. They know it as (y). As it comes after (x). Just saying. No disrespect.
Very good review, thanks. I first drove an NA in 1991, and never forgot how fun they were / are. 33 years and two Porsches later, I’m ordering the Club in white w/BBR package. The only car that’s as fun for me is our old & slow 79 924.
Really good review. I’ve had my NC1 for about eight years now. Nothing goes wrong. It’s been my only, every day car. I’ve never owned a car before where nothing goes wrong. Only 💰💰 I’ve spent is fuel and rego. Love it I’ve now at the end of 2023 ordered the 2024 NC3. I’ll have to wait around five months or so for it to arrive in Sydney, but at least I have an awesome car in the meantime. Unfortunately I only have a garage to fit one so I’ll have to pass on the NC😢
@@Shokyto yep. I’ve now had the 2024 for a week now. Unbelievable little car. A whole new level. All the modern stuff (which you can easily turn off) but the car is still a real roadster. Mazda has kept it true.
I’m glad you liked it! I’ve never smelt anything while driving with the top up that I otherwise wouldn’t have smelt in another car. Only once can I remember smelling some really old stinky semi’s in front of me in town but my top was down that day, lol.
I caution you to not drive one until you’re truly ready to be obsessed with them and ready to find a way to buy one, lol. At least that’s my own experience and I know many others have felt similarly. 😂
Just be aware that only the GT is available with the 6-speed auto and it won't have the Bilstein dampers, strut tower brace or the LSD, so it's mechanically equivalent to the base Sport trim. Losing these features makes the car less performance oriented, but still plenty of fun.
I enjoyed your review on the 2015 NC era MX, but you never really concluded as to whether the NC or ND is better. I wish I had caught that white 2015 while it was available. My NC is a 2007 and I really want the last year of the NC. Whom should I call at Twin Falls? You speak so highly of them, they must be the proverbial last honest men in car dealers. Maybe they'll get one in again or the buyer's wife will put the kibash on his purchase. Happens a lot with guitars and Miatas! I know that your purchase of the ND pretty much shows which you endorse. I got in an ND convinced I was going to buy it, but it was super claustrophobic compared to my NC, which feels like a Caddy in comparison. I'm envious of where you live compared to LA, where we're always in traffic. Your roads are unbelievably clear and unpeopled. I know how superior the ND2 is on paper, but the NC doesn't have all the lame tech ( I HATE the screen,) and also my NC has a CD player, which is imperative. Insights? Comments? Ultimately I probably will own an ND as well as an NC2, but myabe I'll mover to your territory, where one can drive for q mile or so without competing with another car for the lane.
I’m glad you’ve enjoyed it! Yeah, I like coming to town and visiting them a lot to borrow cars, the owner and a lot of the team there seem to be really great people, and a lot of car enthusiasts! They are the highest volume dealer around, so they get a lot of cool used stuff like the NC. I haven’t seen another one since this one though. The NC was great, especially if a nice one can be found 10-15k, that’s a steal of a deal. But fortunately being in a position where a new ND2 wasn’t a big financial stretch that’s the only route I’d want to go right now. Being able to spec it how I wanted and slowly build it to my desire, while knowing it’s not been abused or had an unknown history to me is worth it. Especially since I hope to keep it for 20 years and put 200k miles on it, lol. I value reliability and peace of mind, and I’m okay to pay a bit more for that than feel like I can’t trust it and want to sell in a few years. That’s partially what happened with my 98 LS1 Trans Am. It serviced its purpose and was fun to work on but I needed to trust it more. Funny enough the transmission started going out the day after I initially put up its for sale ad. 3k price reduction and it was still sold about a week later, lol. 😂 😢
I’m considering getting the same trim as yours, an ND3 club trim with the cloth seats and standard wheels. Do you find the upgraded suspension too stiff on broken pavement? That’s my only concern with the club trim.
I don’t think it’s too stiff. I think it’s well balanced between feeling enough stiffness to feel the road but without being unpleasant in my opinion. Best of luck! 🙂
I totally get that! The LS swap is way out there and only to be considered if the stock engine were to ever fail, then it might as well become a project car. The bar is to add safety as the factory hoops are quite frankly pathetic and should have been much more structural from the factory, and the straps are just silly. But definitely useful if ever actually needed lol. The cool thing with the Miata is it’s an incredible vehicle, whether left alone bone stock, or modified in any number of ways. Thank you for watching! 😊
Lol, I don’t keep track too much of credit score. Basically I just don’t do debt or hold a balance on anything, except in this case for the reason mentioned, lol. But obviously I fortunately qualified for the best rate at the time; the alternative Mazda advertised back in March to this .90% for 36 months was 4.99% for 60 months, heck no to 5.5x the monthly interest. I know a lot of people aren’t where they want to be financially and no one wants to pay interest. But getting out of debt and truly owning the things we all want to possess really adds a lot of peace of mind. I strongly recommend Dave Ramsey Baby Step program to anyone who reads this. Otherwise I’ve also been fortunate with State Farm full coverage insurance. But the rate is likely low on this due to multiple vehicles on the policy with a house and good/clean records. 🤷♂️ I don’t ask questions, I simply work hard and wisely and then try to enjoy things within reason lol. 🙂

Why not get the sport as I did and add top tier parts and make it much better ?

I love the styling on this car. Do they make it in an automatic? I have a bad knee and going through gears would probably hurt after awhile.
They sure do, a 6 speed automatic, which is actually quite good! I’ve driven two and was surprised at how fun they still were. 🙂

I have this one as a Wallpaper ;) with Bronze wheels.
I bet that’s an awesome photo! 😍

Wth you gotta do to get a .9% interest rate?!? Your credit must be over 1000
