What I really want to see talked about more is Honda's AWD system.. I would love to know why someone hasnt completely redesigned it to allow for a true 50/50 split, or at the very least, I more versatile AWD system. Or are people just satisfied with Honda's "rear wheel assist" system? For me, My Evo, which has pretty much the exact engine configuration as a K series, I wonder why there has been no advancements in the AWD system itself or even just a completely custom one since Honda AWD is all the rage and the old Wago diffs are almost all gone now.
@@JonHop1 The rear wheel assist is working perfectly for drag applications. Too much power to the rear will cause the car to “crab walk”. Awd Honda’s launch so much harder than EVOs. Ever wonder why?
@@itsjussjerry Perfectly? Yeah I dont know about that.. And Wago Diffs are super rare now, and CRV stuff sucks. This is why so many people are going aftermarket, but I would love to see a stronger AWD system in Honda.. My Evo launches WAY harder than my AWD Honda. Depends on surface. And honestly, controlling crab walk is SOOO cool!!!.. Takes a ton of skill to hold that power and be facing sideways as you go straight down the track! LOL.. Altho, Crabwalking is pretty easily correctable.
@@itsjussjerry Around 1.4 on average(on street tires .. 570whp).. Im not saying you cant go fast, im saying, they are rather weak and unreliable as a whole. If I were to build an AWD drag Honda, I would want a 100% custom made aftermarket setup for strength and durability. Those wago diffs are going for insane prices now, and the CRV diffs and AWD system are just not what I would want for higher HP and durability thats for sure.
Just noticed you guys using a freeze plug type head, we use those for more all motor applications because when head lifts it will put higher pressure on those plugs, could cause oil and coolant mixture, on boosted applications we use the hex screw cap ones, I built my engine, made 1082whp on 27psi, 8685,m5, m150, tuned by Jorge at H-Car. K24a, darton sleeved, stock stroke, built by me.
Met Jay at the old shop and then again at the new location during the open house they have..💯💯 chill knowledgeable guy don't matter if your building fast back mustangs to monster supra's Jay knows his stuff for sure..
This is like watching art be made. Amazing I'd love to send you my engine, you just do phenomenal work on everything. I could watch u build engines all day. I love learning the small tips about things like the bolts that will disintegrate if water touches them but are incredibly tough otherwise. Great video, plz more!
2.2 is perfect, my engine is 2.2 liter too, it only runs on diesel, the indestructible and ultra smooth N22b. The legendary B16 had almost perfect rod to stroke ratio, that is why back in the days it was perfect run high rpm and boost applications with minor upgrades.
Anyone else wish that Jay was their dad? Gosh dang this guy is smart. I've learned so much from Jay+TRC and Jay in general from TH-cam. Seems like such a good guy and a great teacher.
Love watching your engine builds Jay!!! Have you ever checked the ring alignment after the motor has run for a while? I always see you turning the rings so they don’t align on assembly. Learning so much from you guys 👊👊🙏
Ive done a fair few engines with stretch tension bolts and they way i do it is ill grab a ruler and a sharpie ill lay the ruler across all the bolt and basically draw a line across the bolt head, so when your done you can check them if all the lines are pointing the same way you didnt miss any. Even 180 degrees just offset the line a little
Angle torquing almost always implies yeild. Either update your torque specs for arp-2000 hardware (aka Studs) in ft/lbs or Nm, or replace all oem-style hardware when retorquing angle-torqued bolts. Just redoing the sequence will dramatically weaken the yeild strength of the hardware.
Not sure why he didn’t mention that it is an o ringed block. Very important information especially to someone with little knowledge who is watching and could’ve learned.
Clean simple badass build with good attitude and character. No one wants to hear an annoying voice yelling and explaining like it's rocket science every time an engine is being put together. Thumbs up!
So much experience going into this build... I learn something new from every episode. Blows my mind on what it takes to have a happy engine. Wish I had the know how and experience in this area at this level.🌟🏁🏁🏁🏁🙏

It changed the b16a r/s 1.73 to the b16b 1.84. the k24 block and rods paired with k20 crank gives you a 1.77 r/s. Pretty cool... it's like "k20b" the high spinning civic typeR engine we never got.
Jay, what would be the high RPM output NA variant of this build? I'm hoping to stay away from the turbo install now, but have the ability to upgrade to a boosted setup as my driving changes.
Why didn't you mention the Rings you used ?? Or did I miss it ...Setting the ring end gap is very important ..Especially on a turbo motor ... Maybe I wasn't paying attention when you went over that ??
