      @@themandiyrin Just finished my install and it went flawlessly. Took me about 2 1/2 hrs including the prep for the harness. I have a bull bar on mine so camera placement was a little tricky. Appreciate the walkthrough. Everything worked as it should first try. I had to lengthen the ground wire on the switch but no biggie. It was that or make two separate ground wires. Only thing I’d add is you can test the cameras/wiring while the truck is apart before running wires through the firewall by plugging in the front camera and just holding the ground wire to a bolt behind the dash then turn the ignition on and hit the switch to make sure everything works properly. Thanks again. Perfect video for the anytime camera kit for 2020+. I put my switch where the utterly useless QI switch used to be since I didn’t have any blanks in the lower panel.

    Hey @theManDIYrin my screen is upside down on the front view. I believe I have the camera physically mounted correctly. I did not cut the white wire initially. After cutting the white wire, the screen is still upside down. Any ideas? Thanks.

    • @themandiyrin
      @themandiyrin  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi thanks for watching my videos. Hmmm fortunately I have not ran into this situation. Only thing I can think of since you are sure the camera is mounted correctly (the thread is in the up and down direction) is you were sent a faulty camera. I read in some cases (although not with the brand that I have linked), the wires have been color coded wrong. If you want to try, I would suggest re-connecting the wires you cut (either solder then or get those wire connectors) then try cutting the other wires until you get it fixed. So trial and error. Else I would suggest asking them for a replacement.

      The rear camera works when toggling the switch that came with the kit. The front camera does not. Black screen on the Infotainment head unit. Worked fine when I just had the wires running from grill to inside the truck but stopped once I went through the firewall. I’m sure it is the connection between the camera and the firewall. @themandiyrin  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Turtlemilk To answer your question, it really depends on your needs. For myself I live in Canada (Winnipeg in particular) and we get massive snow events here, so I prefer the 4x4 to get me out of situations where I can get stuck. Since it's a truck, 4x2 is still great and you'll just have to maybe have additional accessories (say recovery boards) to assist in situations.
      In terms of your comment on if people will make fun of you? That I cannot answer as that is dependent on individuals. The better question is can you be happy with this truck? I know it's easier said than done but what matters most of what YOU think versus what others.

    #theManDIYrin, Front View Cameras should definitely become standard safety features! I am perceptive about safety features like this one. Front View Cameras work like Rear View Cameras, which have become standard per safety regulation by IIHS and NHTSA in 2018. While Rear View Camera shows a video on the touchscreen of the automotive head unit of you car to provide you what you couldn't see in your rear bumper, Front View Camera provides you what you couldn't see in the front bumper. Both Rear and Front View Cameras address the dangerous problem of blindviews, which is especially true for large cars like SUVs, pickup trucks, minivans, and vans. The problem with these vehicles are that while they have more spacious cabins, they have bigger blindviews that could result in a pedestrian getting injured or killed by either a frontover or backover collision. Young children can be too short to be seen in the front or rear bumper that obstructs the driver's view. Children and pets are more likely to get killed in a frontover or backover collision with the former having a delayed development on their safety.
    According to kidsandcars.org, over thousands of children were killed or injured by frontover or backover collisions, in addition to suffocating by heat stroke in the car, which is fatal all-year round. These are the three most common causes of death in children under the age of 14. Losing a child, pet, or elderly to frontover or backover collision is tragic, but they can be preventable, especially with safety features consisting: Front, Rear, & Surround View Camera, Front & Rear Parking Sensors, Forward Collision Warning, Parking Obstruction Warning, Front & Rear Cross Traffic Warning, Surround View Warning, Forward and Reverse Automatic Emergency Braking (City, Highway, Parking). In addition, we should include safety features on the inside consisting: Rear Occupant Alert with radar (recommended) or ultrasound, Rear-Door Logic, End-Of-Trip Reminder, Rear Belt Minder, all of which are programmed to remind the driver to check for unexpected stowaway passengers, but if the driver ignores the warning, exits, locks and leaves the car without checking who is inside for 30 seconds or less, their car will detect minute movements with the radar or ultrasound detector, making the vehicle trigger the alarm and even send a message to your smartphone, thus saving the skin of the passengers. You have a great deal of responsibility on your shoulders.
    P.S.: Rear Occupant Alert may be pestiferous for drivers who wanted to temporarily leave their car while they are out to do grocery shopping or pumping at the gas station, but it would be worth the price.
