On a 2019 Tacoma trd offroad. Where is the best place to tie in the blue and grey wires. Tied them in to ect switch and now my backlit blue doesn't work for climate knobs, 4x4, USB.
Any place behind any switch. Did you use a tee-splice? Sometimes they will actually cut the wire you're tapping into. It sounds like that is the cause for your lights not working.
Great video! I’ve watched it several times. I have a question regarding the blue and grey illumination wires on the switch. I have listened/watched several times the video in order to understand where these two wire connect. Could you help me with that? Thanks!!
Thanks for watching James! We purposely left that part out due to the various models the kit works on. We can verify the places to tap into on our late model 5th Gen but not the Taco or Tundra. If you're is a 4Runner like ours; Coming out of any illuminated dash switch there will be a gray and a green wire. That's where you can tie into for the dash lights. We used the wires on the back of our heated wiper switch. A simple tee splice will work. Just make sure it cuts through the insulation enough to make good contact. Sometimes they don't. If you have any other questions please just ask. We'll try to get back to you as soon as possible.
You guys are very cute. When you wired up your switch I wasn’t sure did you have to cut the other two wires into your wiring harness to get it to illuminate thank you
We did. In the video Merri explained where we hooked them in on her white board. Later we purposely didn't provide any details because the wires tied in behind the dash will likely vary between models and years.
Thank you for getting back to me I watch more videos they actually why a ride up to the harness and I called the company I don’t have to cut into any wires be blessed you guys you’re very sweet thanks again
On the heated wiper switch, you used the gray and green to splice the blue and gray wires coming from the switch. Which is positive on the heated wiper switch? The green or the gray? Thanks.
So I have a question will the front or back camera allow you to record? Like are these also “dash cams” or are they just capable of simply giving you more eyes around the vehicle?
Thanks for the video! I followed the instructions step by step and triple checked connections but I only get a black screen with the front facing camera. Any thoughts?
Hi Do you have any issue with the switching relay after more than one year of usage? My front camera is working properly. However, my reverse camera shows black display from time to time. Reverse camera shows black display in the rear position or when in reverse, when I opened up the radio to examine the relay and wiring connections, then reverse camera will work again without finding any problem.
Installed this a year ago in my 2017 Tacoma, worked beautifully. I just now replaced the factory radio with an aftermarket radio (Alpine halo9) now there is no where to plug in the one side of the Video Harness (ABC-FRONT). Anybody know how I can get this to work on my new aftermarket radio?
Did you notice that the wires in the kit were different gauges? Even some wires that connect together like the red wire that connects to the two greens were a different gauge in my kit. Making sure I wasn’t the only one and is that really safe?
I think all ours were the same gauge. Maybe the maker changed things. I wouldn't worry about it. The maker seams to know what he's doing, and there is very few amps going through any of the wires anyways.
Awesome with this kit does the car still automatically activate the rear camera when you place in reverse or do you have to use the switch to activate?
We were expecting to have to hit the switch each time. We were pleasantly surprised to see it retains the function of turning on automatically when in reverse.
Great video. Why did you need the extra 22 gauge green wire that you used for the switch? Was it because the switch was going to be on the left side of the steering wheel?
