So I've been thinking if I might give it another shot for music videos investing in that adapter witht those filters or getting myself another Camera.
Thanks a lot I need a lot of tips about Canon M50 Mark II because I'm new in photography and I need to learn more about my apparel... Thank you so much 👏🏽👏🏽✨✨✨✨
I wish there was the same adaptor that we could use ef-m to ef-m. This way we could use our native ef-m lens with this drop in ND- filter adapter. If so is there a link please. Nice video
Holy crap man, I had to subscribe on my new filmmaker trying to do short films and holy crap dude I have such a small budget so this was like so critical for me so that I don’t have to spend $1300 when I don’t have that money at all and I have no chance of getting it for another year or more it would be so cool if you did color grade and use lighting on a budget as well for that cinematic lighting dude and I’m subscribing.
Can you do me and some other beginners a favor? Can you make video actually putting the adapters and speed boosters on? Like step by and showing the different combinations you can create with them. I just purchased a sigma 16mm efm lens for my canon m50… I’m just wondering how can I take it to another level with it? I’m doing a lot of indoor video and some outdoor photography. What would be your recommendations?
With EF-m lenses the most you can do is add screw on filters. For outdoor photos and videos an ND filter is on top of the list and for indoor footage a black must filter may help if you like the look they produce. Other than that the final look can be color graded to look the way you like. You can check out this video on color grading: th-cam.com/video/FwmNi0LhwPI/w-d-xo.html
We recently purchased an M50 after watching your awesome videos. And a beginner photographer and am trying to learn as I go. One of the main reason of the camera is to get some better pictures of our son in the Marching Band. In previous years an awesome parent videoed and uploaded his videos so we could watch the band performances. His kids have since graduation and I am trying to fill his shoes. I have videoed two performances as trial runs. The lens I am using is what came with the package deal, a 18-40mm and I can not get the whole band in frame. So I need to get a better wide angle lens. I do not want to go with a fish eye lens, so my question for any photographer is would a 15-30mm wide angle really give me a better field of view? Right now I get from the 25 to the 25 yard lines. Would the 15-30 give me what I am looking for?
15-30 mm isn’t bad, but what really gives a camera a large field of view is the sensor size. Very few cameras are full frame, as they are quite expensive.

Hey Fulaan! I'm back again with some more questions lol. Can you use the Sigma 18-35mm ef-s lens you mentioned with both the speed Booster and the variable ND filter? another question. If I were to choose lets say the Sigma 16mm f1.4 ef-m lens, is there a variable ND drop in filter for that? or is it just an adapter for EF EF-S lenses? Thanks again for your help
Being that the Sigma 18-35 is an aps-c lens it won't work properly with the speed booster. The speed booster is specifically for using Full frame lenses on crop sensor cameras. The variable ND adapter only works with ef and ef lenses so any ef-m lenses won't work with it. Also keep in mind EF-M lenses are being replaced by new rf-s lenses so might or might not hold it's resell value. The only advantage I see in ef-m lenses is that they are small and light but other than that I prefer adapting EF and EF-S lenses on the m50 over using native ef-m lenses.
Hi Fulaan! Epic info as always. Question - I’ve just bought the m50. You’ve made a previous video about the benefits of the speed booster for the cinematic look as well. Which do you think should take precedence to get started with my camera?
@@FulaanCreative Awesome, THANK YOU. I ordered the speed booster! Fulaan, my name is James. HUGE fan. I'm inspired to make films at the micro level & recently purchased my canon eos m50. I hope to get your opinion AGAIN (haha). I'm looking for one lens to shoot with either a 10-18mm, 22mm or 35mm. My budget roughly $350 and i've no issue buying used. What do you think?
@@jcon654 Thanks! Nice to meet you James. The lenses in they price range are mostly going to be aps-c lenses not full frame. Which would mean you can't use them with the speed booster. There are AF ew exceptions though. The first lens i would get is the nifty 50. It's under $200 new. It's not the shelter lens in the world but the focal length is so versatile and the aperture is f1.8. The fact that it's not super sharp make it perfect for filmmaking in my opinion. Most people don't want ultra sharpness for films but they do for photos. Then I'd get a used sigma 35mm. If you go the aps-c for s used sigma 18-35 would be my first choice. If it's too expensive of go for the EF-m 22mm f2 or the sigma 16mm. The 10-18 you mentioned is really only needed if you are going to do vlogging.
Thank you for the video. I appreciate the info here. My question is the ND Filters are a great idea but can we use the CPL at the same time? Or the black most one? What if you are outdoors during the day and you need ND but you want to use CPL as well? Your kind input is appreciated. Thanks
Again, great vid. I’m thinking about purchasing this for my M50, however the other side where the lense connects to it is it for m50 lenses? I’m other words, i have the sigma lense and the wide lense for the m50, but not sure if those lenses will go onto this ND mount? Kindly confirm
Thanks for the video! Once again you're spot on with your info for M mount cameras. I shoot travel video and alway use my Viltrox speed booster on sigma art lens. Can I use both the speed booster and the drop in ND filter adaptor together without distortion or vignetting???? I love the wide angle view and the extra stop of light from the speed booster. I need that for real-estate videos. I don't want the hassle of swapping the ND filter adaptor for a speed booster constantly.
Im looking really hard at both the R7 and the FX30. Im 90% video. Only us photo for thumb nails and small things like that. Whats your thoughts upgrading to either of these cameras from the M50?
@@GTGTV that's a tough one. In my opinion if your doing strictly TH-cam and not shooting documentaries etc then the R7 is a better choice. If however you intend to shoot stuff for tv, Netflix etc then the fx30 is more suited for that. I like the Canon for it's ease of use as well as the colors and overall results but that's very subjective.
Good day Mr. Fulaan. I hope you are well. I recently ordered the Sigma 18-35mm. Would you advise me to get an adaptor or speed booster? I have heard with the speed booster you get vignette.
@@tshepangdon The commlite adapter works great as well. The reason the Meike one cost more is because it comes with a variable ND filter so it's worth the extra expense.
Which drop-in filter do you recommend buying first? I film mostly fitness videos for my gym. I already have the speed-booster but I'd like to take it up another notch.
@@FulaanCreative thanks a lot for answering. I mostly shoot indoors with mediocre lighting or early AM outside with street lights. I bought a Black Magic but turned around and sold it. I just felt the M50 was better suited for my level.
@@danielrathbun8380 i think there is a big clue in your last statement. Most likely your next purchase should be too invest in good lighting. Lighting is the key.
Nice, helpful insights to a novice camera user, as always! I'm looking to get into my first "real" camera pretty soon, and have been looking closely at a few different models. I've been considering getting the Canon EOS R7 and, even though I have the budget for it, I keep getting attracted back to the "street" camera models, with the top choices on my radar being either the Canon M 50 Mk. II, Canon M6 Mk. II, or the Nikon Z fc. I know that you're a Canon fan, but do you have any experience with Nikon? I hear that they have some leg up for certain things versus Canon, such as better lens selection, and better bang for your buck when it comes to price/feature parity. Like you, I'm a TH-cam creator slowly growing my business and I recently discovered the need to get a second camera (which will become my primary) along with my iPhone 14 Pro Max. Since you are to photography and videography what I am to Apple and related tech, I'd love to tap into your expertise and see what you have to say. Are my considerations worthy of my time? Is there a different model that you would recommend altogether? Where are you on the classic Canon vs Nikon rivalry? Sorry for so many questions, but any and all feedback is TRULY appreciated! Thanks for your time!
Hello. I'm glad the video was helpful. Honestly I have never used a Nikon. I have heard good things about the z30 but the overheating in 4k put me off. If you have the Budget I think the R7 is a pretty good choice. Myself I like the R7and even the slightly older full frame EOS R. If I was going to go for a less expensive camera I would consider waiting until the new EOS R100 comes out which is supposed to be priced around the $600-$700 range.
@@FulaanCreative thank you so much! I use a blue songbird SL large diaphragm but i need to build around my camera i think. One more quick question. I’m about to go to Best Buy, what type and size SD do you suggest i get for my M50 mark ii??
@@FulaanCreative thank you so much for that!!! So on my list, for streaming on twitch, and casual family videos pictures, i have: dummy battery, SD 128, and HMDI from camera to computer. Sound ok? 🤔
Did you run from the Martin Scorsese movie set? You certainly sound like you did! (Meaning your accent is fantastic). Anyway, I have the most challenging question for you of all. I need to buy a camera that can make both excellent videos (for a podcast so low light is relatively important) as well as being good at photography. I would LIKE to go for a full frame/raw format option, but it's not a dealbreaker. My budget is around 500-1000$, primarily focused on used cameras (since it's a better bang for the buck). Any help is appreciated. Ps. Feel free to give suggestions for a 24mm lens. :D Thanks in advance!
@@FulaanCreative Hi Fulaan and thanks for the reply! I will check it right now. In the meantime, some of my colleagues (photographers and videographers) are asking me to check Fuji Xt-3, Sony A7s and Panasonic GH4. What do you think of of those 4 cameras (including your recommendation)? Thanks in advance! :D
@@kalumander Those are all great cameras but are a bit dated. I'd go for the ZVE10 on account of the amazing AF and widely available lenses. It has some other strengths as well.
Hlo Fulaan i have Canon m50 i use afs to efm adapter as i use efs lenses just want know can i use Nd filter with that. Your reply is highly appreciated
@@FulaanCreative would the aspect ratios be different if you wanted to use both recordings from the speed booster vs the ND adapter in one video? Thank you
Will this adapter allow the meike 85mm lens work on the M50 markii? Only asking because that lens will not work on the markii even when I enable the release shutter w/o lens.
@@FulaanCreative Hello my friend. I am new in this field, for which I appreciate your videos and replies. So, which exactly do I need to capture good outside videos?
@@FulaanCreative Thanks, my friend. I have also been watching some other videos you have posted, and I am learning a lot of little tricks I have not thought about before.
@@FulaanCreative Thank you for that. Is there a cheaper good option for a vlogging lens to go with this adapter the sigma 18-35 costs about the same as the M50 Mii where I live like about $1100 and it’s hard to find a second hand one. Always love your content btw.
crop crop and Viltrox speed booster more crop, this is far far from a full frame camera or cinema look, what full frame camera or close can you recommend for the full frame great low light iso and bokeh with most lenses f1.2 to f 2.8????
@@FulaanCreative you think the R5 or RP is best for video? have you compared them with the m50 to see if 4 crop is as bad cause I know the RP has a crop and worse at 4k
I think meike just came out with this same adapter for sony but you will be forced to use ef lenses and i'm not sure if the autofocus will function properly or not.
You don't need all of them and considering you would need to but a different filter for each lens if you went the traditional screw on filter route it makes sense to get the adapter and at least have the ND filter that you could use for any EF or EF-s Lenses you have.
@@FulaanCreative meh. My VND from K&F was half the price of one of them, and I can use it together with a mist filter I got for 40 bucks too. Half of my m50 lenses are 49mm and the one with 43mm can easily be adapted with a 3$ step up ring.

Would you recommend shooting in neutral and using a black mist filter to get cinematic footage with out having to color grade that much
Yes the neutral profile is my favorite in built profile.
@@FulaanCreative oh ok thanks for replying I saw online that raw isn’t effected by picture profile in pictures but is it effect on video ?
@@albertbernal7434 no it's not but the M50 does not have a raw option for video.
You are AMAZING!! Thank you for this info!!
Thanks Kristy!
Hi Fulaan! Epic info as always. Question - I’ve just bought the m50. You’ve made a previous video about the benefits of the speed booster for the cinematic look as well. Which do you think should take precedence to get started with my camera?
Hello. Thanks! If you shoot mostly indoors then I'd say the speed booster first. If you shoot mostly outdoors then for sure the ND Filter.
Thank you so much for this video.
Glad it was helpful!
Thoughts on this paired with the viltrox speed booster?
You can't use both at the same time. The speed booster is better suited for indoors and the ND for outdoors.
Thank you for the video. I appreciate the info here. My question is the ND Filters are a great idea but can we use the CPL at the same time? Or the black most one? What if you are outdoors during the day and you need ND but you want to use CPL as well? Your kind input is appreciated. Thanks
You are welcome. I'm not sure if they have any combo filters. I would check their site.
Wow! That’s impressive. I have the m50 with a vitrolux speedbooster. Do you replace it or add it.
They wouldn't be able to be used at the same time unfortunately.
So you affix the Meike to the camera and you can use any EF lens, right?
Thanks much, great info!
Glad it was helpful!
Wow! never new, thanks for the info bro
Thanks for watching and commenting Kenan.
Thanks allot for these amazing tips. Could I use this with the Canon 600D/ T3i? Thanks.
You are welcome. Unfortunately it's only available for EF-m and RF mount.
Again, great vid. I’m thinking about purchasing this for my M50, however the other side where the lense connects to it is it for m50 lenses? I’m other words, i have the sigma lense and the wide lense for the m50, but not sure if those lenses will go onto this ND mount? Kindly confirm
Thanks! Only EF and EF-s lenses will fit into the adapter. EF-m lenses won't fit.
Hi, I have probably a super amateur quation.. I can use Meike ND adapter or Viltrox speed Booster, thats not meant to be used together? Thank you
Unfortunately you can't
i mean resolution is very important in cinema cameras! super important! thats why old 35mm cinema cameras have an equivalent to 5k resolution!
Is this filter adapter also a speedbooster or just a regular adapter? Thanks!
It's not a speed booster. Just ND
Good instructive vid. Plus you got a Robert De Niro talkin thing goin on. Man, you should be in pictures !
would M50 or R50 be better for filmmaking? And which is better for photography? :)
R50 is better for both
Thank you for this info 👏👏👏
My pleasure
Patiently waiting for someone to give us Magic Lantern for the M50.
I know. Can't wait.
Thanks! I appreciate that. Unfortunately you can only use 1 or the other. It would be awesome if they made a combined adapter in the future though.
@@FulaanCreative yea, it really would.. Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.
@@FulaanCreative Thanks again!
Hey, i bought your LUT Pack 1.0 and its great. Do you have a LUT pack specifically for skin tones especially dark skin tones?
I need LUT Packs for Music and Weddings that can work best with a Canon M50
Awesome. Thanks for the support. I don't have any specific LUTs for various skin colors.
@@FulaanCreative consider creating a few for African beginner film makers like myself coz am dealing with dark skin everyday.
this will make my m50 take footage like something you see in the movies?
It could but depending on your lighting, lens, scene composition etc.
Good day Mr. Fulaan. I hope you are well. I recently ordered the Sigma 18-35mm. Would you advise me to get an adaptor or speed booster? I have heard with the speed booster you get vignette.
And which brand of adapter or speed booster would you recommend?
Hello. Get the Meike ND adapter for the M50. I think it's called the EFT-M adapter.
@Fulaan Creative thank you. But I just saw the price right now and it is beyond my budget.😅 I guess I will go with the commlite adapter.
@@tshepangdon The commlite adapter works great as well. The reason the Meike one cost more is because it comes with a variable ND filter so it's worth the extra expense.
so are we talking mostly outdoors here?
The ND and CPL are mostly outdoor for sure with some limited use indoors on certain occasions. The Mist filter could be indoor and outdoor.
Which drop-in filter do you recommend buying first? I film mostly fitness videos for my gym. I already have the speed-booster but I'd like to take it up another notch.
The ND is the most useful but it's only for those times when you need to shoot outside in bright sunlight.
@@FulaanCreative Thanks for your prompt reply! I've heard about the R100. Has there been any news about when that could come out?
@@it_provisor not yet but i hope it's soon. Seems like it fits in with r10 and R7 so I'm hoping in the next few weeks.
Which one do you recommend this meike or the viltrox speedbooster?
The speed booster increases the light and the ND filter decreases it. They are used for different purposes. I recommend both.
What are you filming this video on, and with what mic? Are you mixing your vocals?
Just basic EQ mostly. The mic is this one th-cam.com/video/-KSkui9hhIE/w-d-xo.html
@@FulaanCreative thank you so much! I use a blue songbird SL large diaphragm but i need to build around my camera i think.
One more quick question. I’m about to go to Best Buy, what type and size SD do you suggest i get for my M50 mark ii??
@@phokismusic I like the 128gb sandisk extreme ones. You can use them on higher end cameras as well if you ever upgrade camera bodies in the future.
@@FulaanCreative thank you so much for that!!! So on my list, for streaming on twitch, and casual family videos pictures, i have: dummy battery, SD 128, and HMDI from camera to computer. Sound ok? 🤔
@@FulaanCreative This thing is amazing! I’m about to binge these videos. Thank you for all of your help Fulaan! 💙💪🏼
Did you run from the Martin Scorsese movie set? You certainly sound like you did! (Meaning your accent is fantastic).
Anyway, I have the most challenging question for you of all. I need to buy a camera that can make both excellent videos (for a podcast so low light is relatively important)
as well as being good at photography.
Thanks in advance!
I think the Sony ZVE-10 is a good fit in that price range.
It has some other strengths as well.
would a sony a7iv need an adapter for this as well?
Yes, Meike makes the same adapter for using ef lenses on sony cameras which would make sense if you already have some ef lenses
Question. What are you shooting this video with ?
Eos R, Sigma 18-35
Hlo Fulaan i have Canon m50 i use afs to efm adapter as i use efs lenses just want know can i use Nd filter with that. Your reply is highly appreciated
Hello. Yes you can buy the Meike EFT-M adapter and use your EF and EF-s Lenses with it.
Can this combine with a speedbooster?
Unfortunately not. Only one a t a time.
what is the best lens for the m50 mark ii? with the speedbooster? For cinematic video shots
Depends on your needs really. Personally I like 35mm and 50mm the most.
Is there a way to use viltrox speed booster too with this setup???
You can only use the speed booster or ND filter one at a time.
@@FulaanCreative :( np awesome content btw
@@FulaanCreative would the aspect ratios be different if you wanted to use both recordings from the speed booster vs the ND adapter in one video? Thank you
Nice info
Thanks. I appreciate it.
Will this adapter allow the meike 85mm lens work on the M50 markii? Only asking because that lens will not work on the markii even when I enable the release shutter w/o lens.
Hmm... not sure. I never used that Meike Lens. Theoretically any EF or EF-s lens should work.
Does the adapter come with the filters, or do I have to purchase them separately?
It comes with the variable ND and clear filter. The CPL and black mist are sold separately.
@@FulaanCreative Hello my friend. I am new in this field, for which I appreciate your videos and replies. So, which exactly do I need to capture good outside videos?
@@myprofessor4625 Thanks. ND Filter
@@FulaanCreative Thanks, my friend. I have also been watching some other videos you have posted, and I am learning a lot of little tricks I have not thought about before.
@@myprofessor4625 Awesome! Glad I could help.
can this be used in conjunction with a speed booster?
unfortunately not. It's either one or the other but if they ever make a combination adapter in the future that would be awesome.
does the filter adapter work with the sigma 18-35?
Yes it does. Any EF or EF-s lens will work S long as it's an RF body.
So if I buy this adaptor for my m6ii it goes straight onto the m6ii body and I then can use my ef mounted 50mm 1.4 on it, is this correct?
Yes correct.
Wow.
Thanks!
Is there a drop in filter system for just ef-m lenses?
No, unfortunately it's only for EF/RF-s lenses.
@@FulaanCreative Thank you for that. Is there a cheaper good option for a vlogging lens to go with this adapter the sigma 18-35 costs about the same as the M50 Mii where I live like about $1100 and it’s hard to find a second hand one. Always love your content btw.
All good just seen the canon ef-s 10-18 lens it’s like only $350 second hand here where I live I’ll give that a try. Thanks again.
@@raymondlawson1751 the 18-35 isn't really good for vlogging as it's not wide enough. I'd go with the Canon 10-18 EF-s lens. Its super wide.

Hopefully they will make that.
@@FulaanCreative no im asking if you can use both in parallel first the speedboster then the drop in

crop crop and Viltrox speed booster more crop, this is far far from a full frame camera or cinema look, what full frame camera or close can you recommend for the full frame great low light iso and bokeh with most lenses f1.2 to f 2.8????
Just go with a full frame camera. You could snag a good deal on a used EOS R, RP, or R8 for pretty cheap.

would this work with sony zv e10?
I think meike just came out with this same adapter for sony but you will be forced to use ef lenses and i'm not sure if the autofocus will function properly or not.
But only 1 at a time right?
Yes, although there are screw on filters that combine ND, black mist and CPL so I hope Meike makes a combo filter soon.
Turkish series huh? Nice 😂
Yep, awesome series.
you woud have an even better m50 if you added magic lantern
magic lantern not support m50 yet
Sweeeet
: )
So, they are expensive. 160 + 80 + 80 + 80.
400 bucks? Or did I mess something up?
Thats as much as the camera
You don't need all of them and considering you would need to but a different filter for each lens if you went the traditional screw on filter route it makes sense to get the adapter and at least have the ND filter that you could use for any EF or EF-s Lenses you have.
@@FulaanCreative meh. My VND from K&F was half the price of one of them, and I can use it together with a mist filter I got for 40 bucks too. Half of my m50 lenses are 49mm and the one with 43mm can easily be adapted with a 3$ step up ring.
