Great news that Baby Gem who was rescued out of a stormwater drain by Kat just over a week ago is doing really well and is settling into care.
Misses Ebony and Gem are almost exactly the same size and will in time, become the best of friends.
Dummies or pacifiers are extremely important to most of the orphans we hand raise as they replicate mum's nipple giving a sense of security and comfort.
Viewed as late orphans, this pair will eventually join other late babies in pre creche in preparation to their release back to the wild.

I would be curious to know if they ' hang out'together as flock members. Do bats have colony buddies?
There is evidence that they have life long friends. Some Flying-Foxes that were captured and tagged together were found to be still in close proximity some years latter.

@E M I'm not an expert - or even an Australian! - but squabbling seems to be a fact of life in the aviary and colony footage that I've seen.
Also saw some minor bat fights in person during a visit to Sydney, back when flying foxes lived in the botanical garden (to the dismay of some, but to the delight of me).

Like most animals, bats breed in seasons. These are the last baby bats she’s going to rescue for the season because breeding season is over, so there shouldn’t be anymore babies being produced.
