For jobs that have a lot of different length bolts I’ll grab a piece of cardboard, draw a rough diagram and poke holes in it where the bolts are. It’s a little excessive but if it’s a backyard job and you have to leave the project for a week or so, you can come back and know exactly where you left off
Couple foam blocks under the hood, near the hinges and it's easy for a person to take a hood off on their own. I used to do it all the time working in a body shop.
Tbh I didn't realize this was considered a talent 😂 I've done it a few times now just by leaving the hood prop up and then carefully undoing the bolts lol.
I actually did this exact thing years ago with a friend of mine. I was a professional mechanic, my friend was a car enthusiast with some experience working on cars, but not much. We replaced the engine in his FWD car in his driveway. I “made” him do most of the work, offering guidance and a helping hand when needed. Honestly, the best way to help someone learn something as hands-on as car repairs is to just have them do it and offer advice when they get stuck or start to do something wrong/dangerous.
I swapped a motor into my mustang at the age of 17 and did it in one weekend. I gotta say if you have a passion for it and have a good idea of how to use your hands you can do it for sure!👍🏾

Seeing James work on his car and the crew around in the same building makes me really miss the HiLow episodes. Hope yall do another one pretty soon! (Like 2021)
I always start with removing the battery, then draining the fluids. Its always best to get the battery out asap to prevent catastrophes, and if you do the fluids first, you can do other things while it drains. As far as where to put bolts/nuts, I always try to put them back where they came from if possible, if not, I use the area around the engine bay to keep them near where they go. If you are going to be doing more than 1 day, then bag them or put them in a sheet of cardbaord and write on the cardboard where they go.
Getting it off yourself isnt too bad, getting it back on alone without dropping it... I did it once on a durango 02. Cold hard American steel aint light
its easy to do just put the hood latches down as if the hood was closed then put the hood on the car closed but not latched prop the front of it open just enough to where you can get a bolt inthe hinge of the hood then put one in the other side and adjust ther hood. i did it on sqaure bodys my nova and several other cars

I honestly like this kinda format alot better than the typical, way more chill, more of a real feel not overproduced and all. might be my favorite episode now lol
My dude Zach went thru 10 sets of clothing in this video LMFAO
On the real, he actually has a cool, laid-back mechanic /skater dude style
This is hilarious

Looks like James has some experience hitting that hose.
Dude obviously dabs 😂
For jobs that have a lot of different length bolts I’ll grab a piece of cardboard, draw a rough diagram and poke holes in it where the bolts are. It’s a little excessive but if it’s a backyard job and you have to leave the project for a week or so, you can come back and know exactly where you left off
Me: 2020 is the worst year
Jack: We will be turboing the miata next week
Me: ok, maybe not that bad.

"show me a guy who can take a hood off on their own"
Gingium yanking his hood off his drift truck alone:
Couple foam blocks under the hood, near the hinges and it's easy for a person to take a hood off on their own. I used to do it all the time working in a body shop.

A guy was known to be able to do such a thing in the great state of minnesota. Nice feller I tell ya. I'll be dipped!
Tbh I didn't realize this was considered a talent 😂 I've done it a few times now just by leaving the hood prop up and then carefully undoing the bolts lol.
I swapped '97 Impeza hoods with nothing but a 10mm by myself. Didn't realize that was a rare success 💃

I’ve always do everything by myself do not have anyone around to help me. You learn how to do things and make it easier and faster.
Aww, since Zach finally got a turbo kit, does this mean we're not gonna get a "nitrogen VS regular air inflated tires, Do they make a difference" video
Nitrogen-inflated tires don't lose pressure as quickly as air-inflated ones, and vapor won't add up inside because there's no oxygen unlike air.

"show me a person who can take a hood off by themselves" - James p.
*shows when zack took off the hood by himself*
Getting it off yourself isnt too bad, getting it back on alone without dropping it... I did it once on a durango 02. Cold hard American steel aint light
th-cam.com/channels/sfu-jdkX2_v2t3_igVQebg.html
Do it with Dan did it by himself on an old camaro
its easy to do just put the hood latches down as if the hood was closed then put the hood on the car closed but not latched prop the front of it open just enough to where you can get a bolt inthe hinge of the hood then put one in the other side and adjust ther hood. i did it on sqaure bodys my nova and several other cars
its easier then doing like 4wd transmission by yourself and people do those all the time
Now that James has slimmed down, can we call him Slim Jim?
Nope slimjim is annoying on instagram
Slim Jim = GOAT
Im actually wondering and slightly concerned in the same time. He suddenly lost weight and stuff, did he go to the gym? Or is it a issue 👀
He went to the gym because of his heart attack I believe
How about slender james for more power
The most satisfying thing I wanna watch about this car is cleaning the empty engine bay
