Do you have a blown engine in your car? and can't afford to have it repaired at a workshop? Then learn how to replace an engine and do it yourself.
This video shows you
How to replace engine mounts (motor mounts)
How to replace CV joints
How to change transmission fluid
How to replace a clutch
How to replace a transmission
How to replace a torque converter
How to replace a radiator
How to flush an engine

Some basic hand tools and a can do attitude can take you a long way and save thousands of dollars.
Common engine failures
*************************
blown head gasket
bent piston rods
hydro locked engine due to water getting sucked into engine
rod knock
bearing knock
piston slap
extreme wear and low compression
turbo charger failure
VVTI rattle
Seized engine
Overheating engine
running an engine without oil
sludge build up
If your engine has any of those symptoms, then you have two choices. Rebuild the engine or replace the engine. Rebuilding an engine is often very expensive due to engine parts cost thousands of dollars. So most people go for an engine swap with a used engine. Mind you that if you correctly change oil regularly enough, you can easily avoid engine damages. BTW not replacing the rear main seal while i was at it is a joke :)

you didnt say put oil
I am a mechanic, but I have helped install and remove some motors, but I never had the wisdom to do it myself. I appreciate this video because simple and to the point thank you. I wish you could do that to a more common motor and vehicle to save a lot of people some heartache.
Awesome video actually shows how simple it can be if you put your time and effort in to it, I’m replacing an engine for my first car it’s gonna be sick
How did it go?

How did it go
Was sick...rip
i just bought a bunch of parts to rebuild my engine, (rods, pistons, valvesprings, studs) and this video made it super comprehensive on how to pull the motor
Everything I have done to my car has prepared me for this... I’ve done everything besides fuel lines before and am confident on replacing my engine
How did it go?
This is a great video for people learning how to be a proper mechanic. I will stress however to those of you who want to do this, that even though all gasoline vehicles follow the same procedure, the difference in complexity and amount of parts overall is night and day for different vehicles. Example: For an experienced tech, an engine swap on a 99 Toyota Corolla will take maybe 3 hours, however a swap on a 2014 BMW 750li will take 10+ hours.
Well no shit
417HOON Your fun at party's aren't you?
@Big Mike my 03 has a good motor but it shud be plug n play after u drop the motor. In the monte u can loosen and unhook everything and it shud drop, in the mustang for example u gotta drop the tranny to get to the motor. It shudnt be a pain da ass, go to montecarloforum.com for more help. Monte's are very strong cars if u take care of them and even wen u don't they can handle the abuse. Mines was sitting for 6 yrs a body work had to do sum minor work to it got it running for a lil then the starter got bad, tranny and motor was still good after all those yrs sitting just needed a tune up and a starter replacement believe it or not.
Just dont touch a y BMW Mercedes Audi or any German cars.
Do Dodges and Nissans from time to time if you feel like Cussing and this guide should be pretty accurate for the rest

3:20 I've found that a good tip for removing rubber hoses (intake hoses, coolant hoses...) is to just squirt a little bit of rubbing alcohol where the hose sits on the inlet pipe, and then wiggle it side to side. It should come of pretty easily. Obviously make sure the engine is cold before you do this lol.
Does the rubbing alcohol degrade the rubber?
@@alaxt.6215 use silicon spray instead, alcohol could dry out the rubber.
@@alaxt.6215Yes it does.
You’re a lifesaver. I’m trying to engine swap my integra soon and this video is absolutely better than any video I’ve searched for.
did you do it?
I was thinking the exact same thing!
How did it go
Great video. You make it look so easy. Hopefully I'll never need to pull any of my engines, but if I do, I think I can handle it!
Absolutely amazing video quality. This is the engine swap video I've always wanted to see.
I change my brakes and oil and this looks a little more difficult haha
It is. I doing it for the first time. It's not necessarily hard, it's just time consuming
@@dee1062 should I rebuild my car bro. It blew up and I love the car. Just wanna put a newer better slightly bigger engine in it. Just some stuff is broken around it too
@@jeffrey3654 do it
Nas it's just more time consuming my first thing I did to a cat was swap the engine just to find out how it works
@@jeffrey3654 yes but It is just called an engine swap not a car rebuild
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼Best engine swap video! All the important steps without all the small details that make a video too long. THANK YOU!!!!
Perfect tutorial. Thanks so much!! I'm not getting trained at my shop and this video helps so much!!!
Thanks for the video
You made a difficult job look simple with simple directions. Thank you!
Great video, thanks. I have very limited mechanical experience but I think with enough time and patience I may be able to do this myself
Wonderful, you have given me confidence to remove the engine, transmission on my 1998 Daihatsu Charade. It is leaking oil at the rear crankshaft seal and there are other issues too. I use it as a second spare car and is very useful around town. Thank you very much!!
Deserves like for all the hardworking he put in this video behind the scenes
Instructions very clear thank you, managed to replace and make it work.
PLEASE MAKE SURE that you torque in a cross patter, always go diagonal to the fastener that you just torqued. This will insure that you have even torque and you don't have any pry on anything. This is a good practice for anyone installing anything, it's not just wheels on your car. TORQUE IN CROSS PATTERN. Other than that, everything looked good, really happy with this video. Just make sure to go slow and take LOTS OF PICTURES!!!! Good luck guys. Still really happy with this guys' video. THANKS A LOT DIY GUY!
Great video! I got curious what it takes to replace an engine and this video does not disappoint!
Thank you for the encouraging attitude it really does look doable with the right tools
Your a legend!❤
just wow, you did an awesome job explaining everything, not talking about a thousand other things just step by step, thank you very much for your help 😊
Made it look so simple - great video !
You have such a great channel. I am sure, in time, you will reach 1 million subscribers. Btw, its ironic that you are obviously an automotive engineer, have alot of money, but drive a 15 year old Japanese market only sub compact. Your frugalness made me smile. Much respect.
I like this guy straight up and to the point 👌
Thanks bro love from 🇰🇪 may God bless you
You make it look so easy... maybe because this car is easy. Anyway thank for the clip, I learn a lot from it.
Amazing! Wonderful instructional video!
Great job on creating this video. I t really shows the details becessary in the process. Great explanation and though i had an idea of what i needed to start, you deffinitely gave me more motivation to begin the process confidently.
Thanks man. The instructions is very clear.
you're welcome
Brilliant tutorial video, thanks from London, England
It was a great video thank you for explaining it to me everything I need to do I'll be doing this to my 98 Nissan Pathfinder
Let me know how it goes, might be doing the same on a 1996 Nissan Maxima
Good video dude, I'm looking at doing an engine replacement on a ssangyong korando fwd I've never done a engine replacement on a fwd, thanks for video
WOW that was a great video, Nicely done, great shots of all the important parts, Thank You very much for taking the time to re position the camera for each step. I have one question. over all,, how long did it take you to replace the engine? Thanks again for every thing.
Its an amazing work . Hats Off . Keep it up
I can't thank you enough, amazing video
Very interesting video...keep em coming bro
World class!!! Thanks from Sweden!
Thanks this was really helpful 💪🏻🔥
man this is an awesome video ma, great material
Superb and matchless video for anyone n everyone.👍
Much appreciated. I will be using this.
Excellent video. Well done!
Great video I'm planning on doing one soon.
Brilliant video and great rationale for the choices you made. Thanks for posting!
I swapped my own engine after a couple of watches of this video. Fairly big job, but manageable if you take your time and do everything methodically.
I need to watch this video a couple of thousand times to replace an engine, but finally I know I can do it!
Very well done & to the point. Good job sir
Excellent video, thank you friend 👍
Holy moly!!!!! This seems somewhat easy, it’s just the wiring. Thanks for the upload
Holy Beautiful
Actually the manufacturers, especially Japanese, make the plug sizes and shapes different so there is no way to incorrectly plug them.
I wish I could
Just use colors and mark where they go the same color red would be plug and socket of one thing for example 👌

Hello from Mcallen, Texas, USA, nice video, you made that look easy lol, i cant do an engine swap with out my dad, im not that experience yet lol
Very impressive, and the video is well done! However, after watching this video I think I'm going to take my business to a mechanic - way too many things can go wrong here :) EIther way, it was very helpful to see what was involved in this.
It's a great video 😮! thank you sir . I will wait your next video 😊.
nice video learning a lot, had no knowledge about cars were engine is concern
Great video!
Well made buddy, well explained gave me the envy to swap my engine hehe
Thank you for your excellent video!
I cringed so hard when he didn’t tighten the fly wheel back on in a cross-pattern
Is that a bad thing? I'm currently swapping engine because I don't want to pay 1,200. Should I watch this video?
@@davetiffany8612 the videos information is pretty good. However when you are tightening bolts you just want to do a star pattern and not a circle pattern so the force is evenly distributed . Like for your lug nuts. i am in the same position as you and im swapping motors in my ranger

Just a joke please don't cut the civic frame. :D
Thankyou for the video!
great video!
Still the best engine replacment video make more with sr20 and stuff
This was perfect!
I really like this video and I want to be able to remove my own car engines someday. However, I still feel like I need to know more about individual parts, hoses, and connections.
Can the manufacturers tell you more about each part and how it connects to the engine. I want to know because I feel like if I take an engine apart I won't be able to put it back together.
Thanks very much, very helpful
Great video.

high marks for the very good lighting. this meant we could see what was being done.
informative too how the axles were removed. and how engine for std trans'
is exchangable for an auto 'trans' with just the adapter bracket thing.
this vid was a superb demo with no end of details that will apply
to similar 4-cyl engines on endless other cars
eductional too that the connectors electrical were all along one 'harness'.
this evidently made labelling each one not necessary
Nice video.
Fantastic video. I am about to embark on this task to replace a leaking rear crank seal. I am curious why you couldn't get the engine out and leave the transmission in the vehicle. Once the torque converter is unbolted from the flywheel, it looks like you only need about an inch of movement sideways to extract the engine.
GREAT 👍 VIDEO
You're the man. 🤜🏾🤛🏾😎
Best video ever
Wow this was very very helpful for me thanks so much for the video I highly appreciate it!! Where are you from exactly?
Awesome video! Definitely would have mentioned filling the engine with oil before starting. I know yours was already filled but you never know if someone watching this video has the same scenario. They might end up having to rewind the video and put in another engine 😂
Lmao
Awesome 🤝👏🏻
Great video
Good job 👍
I'm impressed you know literally everything about an engine
2 things I want to point out that can perhaps help you out.
1. Make sure you put the bolts in by hand to make sure that it catches the thread correctly before gunning it, this can prevent you from cross threading and or stripping the bolt you wouldn’t want to damage you engine block.
2 don’t hammer in the drive Axles directly as performed in this video as you can deform the head and give it a mushroom, instead use a wood chuck place it over the axles end and then bang it into place.
Your sugetions are correct
Your sugetions are correct
Hey, could you elaborate more on point #2? I don't quite get what you mean
@@milkywayandbeyondont hammer metal on metal you can cause the end of the axle to expand causing it to look like a mushroom. Put a wood to the end then hammer.
good rules ive seen so many people strip out bolts cause they winged it especially with an impact
That was a pretty good video. Probably take me 2 days.
great video
Gr8 video, am thinking of swapping mine too.
Dont do it... Youll regret it.
@@eliasshadow5643 True asf. Just, don't. You may be a DIY mechanic or a car fixing enthusiast, the real pain is when you do an engine swap. Take it to a dealership or a guy who does this as his job. This is from experience.
