Hi team , how's it going quick question apparently according to the rules of brexit UK residents are only allowed to be in Europe for 9 months of 12 , it might be 6 of 12 , does this mean by June you guys can't go back to Europe until next January (if it's 6)
Hello Doc - lovely to hear from you! Very important... after Brexit, Brits are now third country nationals, the same as Aussies, Kiwis etc. This means that we can only spend 90 days out of a rolling 180 days in the Schengen zone before having to leave. There are 26 countries in the Schengen zone, including some non-EU countries, but excluding 5 EU: Croatia, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Romania and Ireland, where we get 90 days for each country. It will be important to start tracking dates, and there are some useful online Schengen calculators for this. We're allowed to stay longer in Portugal due to covid restrictions but can't leave to travel overland through Spain... we'll need to fly to a non-Schengen country when we leave, and won't be able to return for 90 days. The main thing to remember is 90/180... so it can be 3 months in, 3 months out of Schengen, or 2 months in, 2 months out and 1 month in again. It's going to be a major change for most Brits but other third national countries have been managing it for years.
@@FrugalTravellers I feel by the specific response you have prepared for this question,🤣 I'm with you all the way , I can't wait to see where your travels take you . I've booked a trip for Kyiv for September. So fly to Kyiv from London, 2 days in Kyiv then overnight bus to lviv , 2 nights in lviv then over night bus to krakow and 3 nights in Krakow ... I've worked it so out of 7 nights I only need accommodation for 4 ... Also I've booked hotels so they will hold my luggage even when I'm not staying that night , from when I check out and until the bus leaves etc. Can't wait hope it happens. I think the frugal living is rubbing off on me ...,😮 But to put it in perspective for two of us , 7 nights flights to and from Uk 3 overnight bus trips.
@@doc4845 Yes, we've had this conversation with a few Brits now. It's a bit concerning how many people were unaware of the new restrictions that would automatically be introduced post-Brexit. It's going to play havoc with all the people accustomed to spending months in Spain or Portugal over winter, and I've heard that the fines for overstaying can be quite high. Your trip sounds wonderful! Kyiv and Lviv should be lovely in September, and Krakow is always beautiful. I am still working on the Lviv videos but have been concentrating on Portugal updates as there's a real demand for Brits for on the ground info.
@@FrugalTravellers I feel by the specific response you have prepared for this question,🤣
I'm with you all the way , I can't wait to see where your travels take you .
Please be warned that my Lviv footage really doesn't do that gorgeous city justice!
Yayyyy... 3 overnight buses! You are a frugal traveller indeed 😃😁🎉 I look forward to hearing all about your trip!
@@FrugalTravellers I'm going to try and vlog some of it , I'm kinda lazy though. I've got all the equipment etc but just doing it is another thing ..
Maybe I'll call my channel frugal travellz with a z to take credit for all your excellent videos .. I'm obviously just messing
But It's great to see your videos. They are excellent. I can see alot of hard work goes in to making them.
Stay safe you two ... Have a nice cold pint on the harbour for me .
@Doc Hahhha... you made us laugh with your suggestion 😁 You've been with us for ages so know that we started making videos using my Motorola G4 Plus... no fancy equipment for these Frugal Travellers, hence the very raw footage of the earlier vlogs 😁😃
I'd love to see your travels, and we understand exactly how much work is involved. It's a great record of travels and experiences though, and I'm so pleased we started vlogging.
Thank you for your kind words. It means so much to us to hear from people, especially those who subscribed in the early days and who were so supportive to 2 novice vloggers 😃
Guys, how many years ago did you quit your last job?🙃
Hello supersonic. We finished work in Australia in July 2017, and left in August 2017 to embark on a life of slow travel 😃😁
👍
Thank you! We're happy you enjoyed the video 😃😊
Go to Lagoa carvoeiro
Hello! We went to Carvoeiro when we did the 7 Hanging Valleys hike - did you see that video?
Unreal.. instead of eating in one of the local restaurants you choose pingo? They don’t need the money!!
It's a channel about frugal travel, hence the meal at Pingo Doce.
Just watch out , right before I land in Algarve in 3 weeks Boris will put England into a lockdown...hahahhaa...just my luck or maybe Boris will wait for his Dad to come from a visit abroad and than puts the country into a lock down just like last time. LOL
Hahhha... I'm sure you won't be that unlucky! Just check to make sure his father is still in Greece 😁😃 Have a wonderful time in the Algarve - it's really starting to get hot here so if you like the sun, you're laughing. It's a beautiful part of the world.
@@FrugalTravellers To be honest hot countries is not our thing. We are not a beach type of family but since Portugal is on the green list we said why not , another country to visit and we needed a break. We rather visit NZ again but they don't allow Brits in so we have to go Portugal instead which is not a bad option considering we only fly for 2.5 hours .
@@andreiiasi I'm the same - I struggle in hot countries and don't really enjoy lying on the beach, but Lee's a beach bun so is down by the ocean every day 😃 It's convenient that Portugal is only a 2.5 hour flight for you, and we hope you have a lovely time and can find plenty of shade.
@@FrugalTravellers hahahahaha I was right again . Boris done it again twice in 6 months. He gave a short break for his cronies including his DAD to go out for a break and than as soon as they come back he stops the international travel. He done that for Christmas with Tenerife and now with Portugal...I knew it will come but I wasn't sure of when. I can read him like a book.
@@andreiiasi What!?!? Portugal's numbers are way down! That's crazy. I can only imagine how frustrated and disappointed anyone with a holiday booked to Portugal must be right now 😳😯
