Hello friend. Great videos! I have not had a single good experience with LIFX and I really wanted to love them. They will not stay connected.. they disconnect daily…. Even after channel one assignmnt on my wifi etc..

I got lifx bulbs all over the house. and I have removed the wall switches in the house and replaced them with smart Wifi Switches that will and switch the bulb no/off brighten and dim the light. the reason behind this is that if you use a standard switch you will cut the power to the bulb and you have to go and push the switch again for it to function
real quick, I started out with the Hue setup and couldn't make the Bridge work, as it needs to supplant my Ethernet Switch to be first onto my gateway. Since I needed my ethernet, i went with Lifx. Much better.

Yeah, they are both great bulbs. The no hub required sold me on the LIFX over the Hue though. Also the LIFX seem a little brighter from tests Ive seen.

I liked the light and all the color options.....but I had to return it because it would always lose connection and never stay connected. I bought tp link bulb and never a problem. The color options aren't as good but at least it stays connected.

Thanks Willie! As for smart light choice I went wit the LIFX obviously lol. Both are good bulbs. I just went with lifx over hue because one, I liked that they didn’t need a hub. Two, from what I’ve seen they are a little brighter and the colors are more accurate and saturated. Don’t think you would be unhappy with either though.

Looking to put these bulbs in light fixtures in the ceiling that do not have a dedicated switches. Do they require switches?

I have a question, I have laying hens in my chicken coop where I want to use these bulbs. They need to come on in the early morning, preferably go from dim to brighter, turn off during the day and come on again in late afternoon and turn off again 2 or 3 hours after dark by dimming down. It's important that the light doesn't just go out in the evening, because the need time to settle in to roost. Will this app from Lifx do this???

Is this bulb enough to light up a 4x4 meter bed room?
You mentioned in the video if the wifi goes out you may have to reboot it to make the bulbs work again. Can you still operate the light while wifi is off line by simply using the normal wall switch?
+philip baldwin yep, you can still turn them on and off via the wall switch they are on or the on/off switch to the lamp/fixture they are in. You just lose the ability to change color, dim, use the app to control them, use Alexa to control them. They still work like a normal light though. 👍🏻

I don't see why not. As long as the lights have access to a good 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi connection.

Really cool for maybe a week. Novalty wears off quick. Having to remove the bulb to do a reset would be a total bitch if you have a few of them and hopefully not a house full of them.
+PipenFalzy yeah, I can see that for sure. I actually use mine all the time though. I love being able to just say “ lights on” or “lights off” and all the lights in that room come on instead of having to walk around and turn on multiple lamps. The rebooting can be annoying but luckily it is fairly rare. Most of the time they are pretty flawless. Definitely not an item for everyone, but I dig them. Wanna outfit more of the house with them, but them babies ain’t cheap! So it’s a slow process, lol.

I have a question. Do you know if they can be used in a 3-way table lamp? If so, how? Thank you in advance..
I havent used one with a three way lamp myself, but I would think it would be fine. The three way function may not work but the bulb should still function as it is suppose to as long as it is getting juice. You would just turn the lamp to the on position and then use the bulb as you normally would with he app and/or Alexa. Like I said, I have not tested this myself.......but seems like it should be ok. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

I'm 11 months late, but yes. These work in both the 2nd and 3rd On positions on my 3-way floor lamps. These only need 11W. Once they have enough power, they operate just as expected.
So do I leave the light switch on now forever or turn it off when I turn off my bulb through my phone??

Soo I was wondering if I should just buy one of these for my bedroom. They don't have the correct fitting for my actual light, but for my desk light (it can light up the whole room with the current bulb) it should work. I just want one so I can say 'Hey Google, turn off my light' at night time (and I want to party on my own :P).
One more thing, I have noticed my current bulb get quite hot when it stays on for about 5 mins. Would this one get very hot?

They are pretty bright so one might do the trick. As for them getting hot they are LED so they dont heat up too much. Not as hot as a normal incandescent bulb. Hope this helps!
