I picked up NEO for my kid, and it's just the ticket, it's tiny, light as a feather, and so simple that even the little ones can get in on the action without breaking a sweat!
Thanks for a great review and some lovely photos, the neo seems quite a nice little drone so I am going to buy one for myself and see what I can do with it. will let you know how I get on. Thanks.
Looks like it'd be quite a fun drone for families to take on holiday, as it can be quickly deployed and then stuffed back in a bag. Plenty of features to play with and it's definitely a fair price for that amount of technology. Great review as always!
That's what I have my Mini 4 Pro for. It folds up to a smaller form factor with better quality all around and longer flight times. I'm sure most people like to get the best possible quality for their holiday footage, because many times you will not manage to came back to where you're going.

Since this is the first generation of this product, it's awesome to see a drone coming out at an affordable price point with a few kinks that need to get sorted, such as camera quality and the slight software quirks you mentioned. Totally agree on the foldable design of the X1. I owned the X1 and used it mainly for cycling. I ordered the Pro version because of 4K and higher follow speed. I do like the fact that the Neo can be used as a FPV though. Almost canceled the order due to that. What are your thought about new Hover models? Thanks for your review. Great work. I had the X1 for a good year or so before dji released this. My exp with the X1 was great, loved being able to get quick shots on hols. It also sounded like 1000 mozzies attacking but didn't bother me. Intrigued to see how you compare the Neo with the X1 Pro. Hover drone prices are crazy so feel like Neo will be take top spot due to affordability and SW updates etc
I did order the Hover Air Pro Max because of Video quality, obstacle avoidance, and from what I'm seeing already, superior tracking in every way. Out of the box, the Neo is vastly cheaper and beats the Hover X1, but if you want all of the features of the Neo for FPV flying, you will need additional cash about another $100+ and as of this video the Goggles 3 which is $500, so now you are closer to $800-$900 and more expensive that the Hoverair Pro Skiing bundle which is insane IMO.
@scottgivens27 promax definitely beats it in all areas but the price bracket is nuts in my opinion. I have the mini 3 pro for the professional shots and just wanted something to launch for quick shots. Hover have done a great job of raising the bar and creating a niche market entirely but I'll probably wait to see how the HW and SW perform in real world scenarios. I get my Neo today so will see how hat performs too. Depending on how that does will lead me to get X1 Pro or not.

I believe an update could improve the video quality, especially by reducing the overly aggressive sharpness filter. It would also be great if they added a vertical crop mode.
I'm intrigued by this. Ruled out the Hover because it can't operate over water and I want to use it kayaking. This is half the cost, just barely at a price where I'd risk drowning it. I'm tempted to buy one, transfer its guts into a 3d-printed foldable case with floats, and see what happens.
Greeeat info. Still haven't bought a modern drone, perhaps after watching this I would go for a dji mini 4 something. I really like the noise cancelling ability. How do you remove drone noise normally?
Good solid review and I think I will wait for V2 based on the obstacle avoidance and the SD card slot. Will the NEO fly from the DJI controller with the screen in it?
Great review! Likely pre-ordering this little guy today. Quick question, photos can be shot in RAW format, correct? * Just saw the RAW format option in another shot / all good! 🙂
Excellent and nicely balanced review. I now understand I won't be buying it (especially because of the noise), but I'm quite impressed with what DJI have done here, and I'm excited to see what's going to follow. Thank you!
Hello, first of all thank you for your video (I liked it and subscribed). I'm currently still flying with my Sparks. But here - I think - I see the future successor. Greetings from Zurich
Even as a sponsored video I found that very balanced. I have an Air2s and Fishing Channel. I know my audience likes drone footage. I just find it to be a pain to pull it out and get footage while fishing. So I was thinking this might be a good option. However, I might wait for the next version by the sounds of it if it will have obstacle avoidance and possibly folding. Plus they should have better camera and for me additional storage...
Thanks a lot for this summary! I dreamed about the drone which doesn't need a remote controller and can follow me while running in the mountains or skiing (of course when no wind). But I still really hope that DJI will release NEO 2 asap and with SD card slot and obstacle avoidance + maybe better camera with option to turn it the same way as Mini 3 and 4 can...
This video just helped me make my decision! I loved that even though you are sponsored, you did not sugar coat this review unlike other influencers. I will be skipping this drone. I wanted it to be a smaller FPV but after buying the FMC, controller, and goggles, it will set me back approximately $990. An Avata 2 FMC is right now priced at $1,199. The camera and the noise is also deal breaker. The lack of ability to go vertical (specially since it’s marketed for social media) also sucks. I’d just stick with my Mini 3 Pro and pair it with an Avata 2. Thank you for your review!
Thank you! I'm happy my review helped you make a decision. There is no point in dancing around certain issues, and I would rather be completely honest about my feelings on a product.
@@steameier8590 yeah I’m sorry to hear that my friend. I’m in the U.S. but I usually try to be respectful of others when I’m flying and hate getting attention. can't wait for the HoverAirx1 PRO and PROMAX, i think they will be the real deal this year, the colors are much better, definition too and the features are going to be so much nicer comapred to the NEO
I assume it comes with the usual checks for fly spots, which is a problem in my home country where it's almost impossible to fly anywhere due to many no-fly zones. Same would probably be true on recent holiday locations we went to (Canadian Rockies eg). Can someone confirm it's having the same restrictions as any other drone (apart from not required to have a need to register it to fly it or report it's ID and location to authorities given it's weight is < 250g)? As always, great content coming from you and despite DJI surely providing you with some exclusivity (early versions of their products) I always find your reviews very objective as you name the good as well as the bad and even compare fairly, like in this case to the Hover competitor product!
Is it possible to send the pictures to your phone and also empty the sd card without a laptop? for example when you are backpacking without a laptop and the sd card is full.

I’d just stick with my Mini 3 Pro and pair it with an Avata 2. Thank you for your review!
DJI Avata 2 Weight: 377g, that makes it difficult to fly in the EU.
I had the first Avata and it was very loud. I was hoping Neo would be quieter but it being loud and the price overall after buying controllers and goggles, it would make more sense for me getting the FMC Avata 2. Even though it’s slightly louder.
@@TheDroneCreative and I appreciate that a lot! I even referred your channel to my brother when he needed to decide which drone to buy first! Thank you
Thus the $300 price point vs the $1300 for the Avata 2. I'm still very happy I added the Neo to my fleet
what about face recognition if you wear an enduro/cross helmet + googles ?
Great review 👍🏽... was waiting to pull the trigger on the Neo as have the HoverAir X1...saw the X1 Pro coming out soon so holding fire until then...Can't wait to see your review of the HoverAir X1 Pro/Pro Max coming next month 😅
The HoverAir X1 Pro Max is really exciting. 8k & obstacle avoidance. Curious to see how it holds up!
Hi do you think it is suitable in winter snow? Will it be over exposure?
Would you need to do a GEO Unlock request for this drone if you're just using the phone and no remote?
follow mode is SIIICK. like you're the main character in a video game!
Giving myself an out of body experience and seeing my self in 3rd person
Good vid. Can you use it with the RC 2 controller?
Thanks for an info packed discussion.
Fabulous Mathew, can you use the DJI Mini 2 and the Mini 2SE controller ?
No
Cool little drone for sure. ❤
Really great review …. Full of what you need to know… Very professional… Have subscribed!!!!! Thank you 😊
Thank you - really appreciate that!
Hi, I especially like your English. It sounds very strange but I, as a person from Poland, can understand you in 100%. What country are you from?
Irish my man
can't wait for the HoverAirx1 PRO and PROMAX, i think they will be the real deal this year, the colors are much better, definition too and the features are going to be so much nicer comapred to the NEO
Obstacle Avoidance is just a no-brainer....why they left it out beats me. Great review m8.
would cost way more
Thank you!
I belive they kept it out so it could have a more competitive price, and keep the weight to a minimum, just like the removal of the SD card slot.
When you do the quickshots features it knows when to come back and land?
thank you for this now i can buy this very affordable and ready for my vacation to my country Philippines 🤗
What small(ish) drone like this would you suggest that is quieter with similar features?
Is it possible to send the pictures to your phone and also empty the sd card without a laptop? for example when you are backpacking without a laptop and the sd card is full.
This is an excellent early review, well done 👍
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching!
Great video thanks for sharing, can I connect my dji mic 2 to my phone while recording audio to straight to my dji neo ?
Is the drone waterproofed to use it to take some cool shots during surfing ?
