About This Video:
As seen in our previous smart nursery tour, we were able to control LIFX lights with Alexa using our voice. In this video I show you how I paired LIFX with the Amazon Echo. Also, make sure to subscribe to be notified when new videos come out on new baby & toddler products.

I was having connectivity issues with my LIFX and Alexa. I couldn't get Alexa to control my light. Through your video, I found out the one step I failed to do: enabling Groups in the Alexa app. Thanks man! Your video was informative and also quite entertaining!

Is it possible to create sub-groups?
Eg. "living room" is the main group and "sofa lights", "table lights", ... are the sub groups of individual lights.

If you ever need more smart lights look into the Sengled Elements(simple or multicolour) & Lumiman. They work with your Echo Plus’s built in base. Just added a bunch to my house and they work flawlessly, best part is they are substantially cheaper then hue and lifx. (I may try and do a vid on them soon)

Great review, answered a few questions we had. One more: can both my wife and I control the lights via the app on our individual phones, like, can we both download the app and work the lights or does it only work on one phone/device?
You both can but I’m pretty sure you figure that out already since it’s been a year 😂
love ur videos, have a baby on the way and you inspired me to do up our nursery with smart lights rather than just paint pink blue etc! I saw alot of cheaper smart lights on ebay compared to lifx, wud you recommend ? also maybe you can do a smart home on a budget soon.
That's a great idea. LIFX and Hue are usually the top options but I'd like to experiment with more affordable choices. I've been wanting to test out Lumenty since their bulbs are a fraction of the cost. amzn.to/2C0JHiM

I can only change the shades of white in Alexa. It doesn’t let me change colors. I have it set up through HomeKit though. Does Alexa not allow color change when you set the lights up through HomeKit?
It’s not finding Device with Alexa I’ve enabled it on Alexa app and Lifx but still won’t discover it help? ASAP
Also, we have a 2 year old. What happens if the light switch is turned off? Does the bulb default to off where if you flip the switch back on it’s off and you need to turn the bulb back on via voice control or the app? What if the bulb is off and the switch is flipped off and back on, does it retain the color combo that was set before the switch was flipped?

How are you liking them. I just ordered 2 sets of lifx strips, bulb, and the light bar for my office. Are you liking them?
How is this setup still working for you? Im reading a lot of negative reviews about connectivity issue. Would it be better to get the Philips Hue with the bridge for more reliability? Mind you I only need one bulb for our newborn baby.
I’ve had a couple friends report similar issues. I’ve had LIFX lose WiFi sync a couple times but it hasn’t happened to me that much. I’ve generally liked it. That being said, I also have Hue set up in our bedroom and I’ve literally never had a connection issue. I’d say Hue is much more stable and reliable.
after you create the group, can you still change the color of each light individually?
Yes, you can still do that in the LIFX app. I do that all the time and it's pretty addicting.
Does the app have to always be open to control the lights via Alexa
The video is great!!! The LIFX Bulb is poorly designed. And Alexa has changed since this video was made. But style and creativity of the vid is genius. Keep it up.

Yes, they recently updated the bulbs to work with HomeKit.

I'm confused. Lifx bulb will take over my network? I get a prompt that my wifi is not connected. Then I have to register with lifx cloud?? So confused. Trying to set up lifx with Alexa. I need a grandson.

you need to go to wifi in settings and click on the LIFX Wi-Fi. If it doesn't show up, then turn the light on and off 5 times to reset it, and then check again

@@in3pired9 It will first show up as a device on the LIFX app. I haven't been able to get any further than that, tbh.
