Stallone! Getty! He’s a cop, she’s his mom and when they get together…hilarity ensues! Stop on over to the old leather couch for this action comedy movie.
In Seen It, the theme is cops: cops in LA, cops in Japan and a pair by Pacino.

"Let me tell you something you already know. The basement ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will show you 'Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot' and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as a bad screenplay. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep watching movies. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done."
    Rocky (paraphrased)

This movie was a “weekday afternoon movie” on Brazilian TV for years, and I actually grew a fondness for it because of that. The same time spot was shared with the likes of Goonies, Dirty Dancing, Blue Lagoon and other 80s movies.

Heat is easily the best heist movie ever. Every heist film after Heat rips off Heat. It's amazing. I also love Michael Mann's The Last of the Mohicans and Public Enemies.

You guys were talking about the lack of comedy from Sylvester Stallone in this one, but I think he stepped up a year later in Demolition Man. Honestly that movie is one of my guilty pleasures, I'll watch it whenever it is on. It really feels like a modern Marvel superhero movie with its use of levity for an action movie, of course with an R rating for the obligatory boobs and swearing that those movies felt the need to offer back then.

I worked at a 10-plex movie theater in the 90s. I sold tickets - not many, but some - to SOMMWS. After a few days, management instructed anyone working the box office to make a disclaimer along the lines of, “If you’re hoping for a typical Stallone movie, this is NOT it..... and we have a ‘no refunds’ policy.”

I disagree. I actually watched The Last of the Mohicans 4 days ago. It's really thrilling. The first betrayal sequence is so unexpected and intense. The barrage of cannon fire at the fort is so loud and constant, you really get a feel for an old fight like that. The double pronged ambush is terrifying and pretty visceral. The romantic farewell behind the waterfall is beautiful. The lighting and color choices are stunning. The final chase on foot across the waterfall is so violent and heart pounding. All the acting is great too. Trevor Jones' score is timeless for sure.
