    Favorite animal character? The creepy dog wandering around the research facility in The Thing. Probably the greatest animal performance I've ever seen. Just by the way it moves you can tell that something's wrong.

    Oh wow! I'm the Olivia in question, hi guys! Another fabulous episode of this amazing show.Thanks for reading Matthew's comment out. Also, the original Clint Eastwood 'The Beguiled' was our favourite after watching both back to back. Much darker, grittier, sleazier, and thought provoking than Coppola's. Coppola's wasn't bad, great cinematography, but just didn't have the same level of guts to it. Much love to you all!

    Interestingly, I liked Wonder Woman as Craig did but I had a lot of the same thoughts that Matt had, though those observations were the reasons I enjoyed the film. It didn't need to be new, it just needed to nail down something solid and fun which the DC movies have generally lacked. It's worth noting too that Wonder Woman is basically that strong in the comics too, sort of compared to superman in terms of just constitution. Was interesting to hear your thoughts though!
    Also have you guys seen Gerald's Game, the Netflix Original film? I didn't expect much from it but I was impressed at how intense and horrifying it along with the strong performances and fantastic use of a (mostly) bottle movie. Would love to hear you guys' thoughts!

      I enjoyed Wonder Woman because it wasn’t nihilistic or cynical. Sometimes I have trouble wanting to even get up in the morning due to how bleak things have gotten in the world, and I find watching “life is shit and won’t get any better” stories not to be motivating. Also, it was one of the first movies I’ve ever seen that made me proud to be a woman.

    • @CallerIQ223
      @CallerIQ223 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's sorta what i took from it as well, it's just a conventionally good film and sometimes you really need something that does the bread and butter well, especially in the wake of all the DC movies that try too hard to be Nolan Dark.

    Hey Matt and Craig! Hope you are both well. Last week I watched Robert Redford's Ordinary People and loved it. I didn't find the movie as depressing as I thought it would be, but rather more intriguing and thought provoking, especially on the subjects of grief, depression and suicidal feelings and how these can affect us and the people surrounding us. However, the next day when I talked to my mom about the movie, I found myself choking up, whereas I was not emotional while watching Ordinary People. I don't think a movie like Ordinary People would be made today. First off, we only get bits and pieces of exposition throughout the movie, rather then having the plot spoon-fed to us within the first ten minutes like so many movies that are made today tend to do. Secondly, I feel like a movie that contained a suicide attempt made today would be more gory when it doesn't need to be. We don't see Conrad's blood in the movie, but we see his father and mother's (Donald Sutherland and Mary Tyler Moore) reactions to his suicide attempt--with his father banging on Conrad's bedroom door, and his mother's stunned reaction as Conrad is put in the ambulance. These aspects of the scene are way more powerful then actually seeing any blood. It shows that the suicide attempt wasn't the made plot of the movie, but rather how the Jarrett family moves on from it, while continuing to grieve the loss of their older son, Buck. Lastly, the ending doesn't have a final resolution. It rather gives potential for a resolution, that things might not be entirely okay now, but they're getting better. For me, this is a more realistic ending to the film then a picture perfect Disney ending, and also a more depressing and less inspiring ending that they could have gone with. I also loved how the love interest for Conrad in the story doesn't "save" him from his depression, and Conrad's interaction with his therapist, particularly the final scene between the two. Sorry for this very long post but I would love to hear your thoughts on this movie, and would also like to hear any similar movies like Ordinary People for me to watch. Thank you for your time and for all your wonderful content!

    I watched the ending carefully and it does look to me like she transforms into a panther. Because when she dies we can see her hands sticking out of the coat, pointing forward. But the body they inspect has all legs or arms pointing downwards and has shape of a panther.

    I agree with Matt re: Wonder Woman. I had such high hopes for it, and it was so meh and cliche in so many ways. CG Ares was just so... weird looking. The escalation of her powers in the fight didn't make sense to me, suddenly she is close to immortal and can fly? I don't mind Gal Gadot though, although I agree she is a bit wooden. What bothers me the most about it is that it could have been much more than it was, it had all the ingredients but then the result seemed half baked to me.

    It hurt me to hear Matt comparing Wonder Woman to the Hulk and complaining about it. Diana is essentially a demi-god formed from clay and was gifted various powers by the gods of Olympus (Hermes, for instance, gave her the ability to fly), so she can easily go toe-to-toe with the likes of Superman and Captain Marvel.

      Yeah I agree with Matt that Wonder Woman was kinda garbage. It was like a bad version of the 2011 Captain America, and that movie wasn't great either. People raved about it because it was a woman super hero film, but honestly I think the character of Wonder Woman could be done better justice than the milquetoast political bait that was that movie.

  • @robrat4181

    Matt, you're high......I thought Gal Gadot was perfect for the role, an exotic female with a strong presence.....Her "brick" acting was intended to accentuate the character's "fish out of water" experience to WW2 and the male dominated roles of 1940......Just my 2 cents...
