Welcome To The Basement" is a show about watching, discussing and having fun with movies. Matt chooses the movie and Craig doesn't know what it is until the cameras start rolling, so none of the discussion or riffing is planned ahead of time.
Movie announced on facebook before every new episode. Get the movie and follow along. We do discuss the entire movie, including the ending, so if you want to avoid spoilers, watch the movie first. - ตลก
I loved watching Wallace and Gromet growing up! It’s a shame that the voice actor for Wallace has passed away.

No way! I live in Tucson and I go to the loft all the time. I was also there for Eraserhead that same night.
Too bad we didn't run into each other. I needed someone to process that with, and I knew my wife didn't want me to wake her so I could unload my thoughts. A huge part of me just wanted to drive out into the desert for a few hours to decompress.
And Viva La Loft!

As someone who lived in England for a few years I can say that ‘bygone era’ feeling is everywhere over there still.
Small shops and tons of folks have a homely interest in local food, knitting, gardening, the countryside, and historic preservation. My favorite place on Earth.
Fun fact: Shaun the Sheep became a kids tv show after this, ended up being one of my faves and the theme tune was really catchy.
He doesn't miss a trick ever or lose a beat.
Thank you so much for this tribute to Peter Sallis. The Wallace and Gromit films are absolute classics. Well worth checking out.
I love this channel so much, this is the most underrated and unwatched channel on youtube. I hope 2018 brings them more viewers!
RIP Peter Sallis. Fun fact: His son Crispian Sallis is an Art Director and has been Oscar nominated three times for his work on Aliens, Driving Miss Daisy and Gladiator, and won an Emmy for The Tudors.
I'm gonna miss that little dead pixel... the show won't be the same without him!
Seriously though, thank you so much Matt and Craig for another great year! The show never fails to bring a smile to my face.
Have you seen Mary and Max? It is a fantastic Australian Claymation movie.
For some reason I kept feeling like this season was different and I didn't understand it until this review. Rather than being a season of hidden gems with a few mainstream "I can't beleive Matt has not seen this" movies, this season was the opposite. I guess I am more excited by the Hard Tickets than I am the Rocketeers.
Either way, this is probably my favorite show on youtube. I know the show can't go on forever but I have been watching since the beginning and will likely watch until the end. Thanks for this wonderful program.
I got Hard Ticket AND The Rocketeer as gifts this past xmas. It's the best of both worlds!
Awww, my favorite Wallace and Gromit movie! I love the way the sheep walk. Sooo cute! I like Gene Kelly's smile - I feel like he has so much joy dancing. He's doing what God made him for. :)
I live in Tucson and used to work for the lady that ran the loft. they do the rocky horror picture show experience there. Kinda cool he was there.
I remember my family having this movie on vhs at my grandparents and wanted something to play for my little cousin. I wanted to see it because "Curse of the WereRabbit" had come out earlier but my mother said it was too boring as soon as it got to the knitting shop so I never got to see the rest.
This was a pleasant end of year episode and nostalgia infused curiosity. Glad to have seen how it ended even in edited form :)
Great episode to end the season. Loved Wallace and Gromit as a kid ( still do now ) I only started watching wttb when the desperately seeking Susan episode came out and have been binge watching ever since. Looking forward to the next season. Have a happy new year and enjoy your break

Here's a souvenir of midnight viewing: ''Clockwork Orange'', early 90's, at Le Cinéma De Paris in Montréal with my friend Bruno, up the balcony, smoking hashish, and bothering no one. Great moment. That place no longer exists though.
I hope these guys watch Return to Oz if they haven't seen it.

I would argue Peter Sallis' earlier character of Norman Clegg in Last of the Summer Wine is just as iconic as Wallace in Wallace and Gromit, he played that character for I believe 35 years on a yearly basis!

I bloody love Wallace and Gromit, reminds me of being a kid. I've also been to the Wensleydale factory, they had their own W&G cheese
Every Wallace and Gromit episode and movie is excellent. Even that Shaun the Sheep is funny. Curse of the Were Rabbit is so cute.
best year end movie. gave me the chuckles....bonus? Gregory Peck in the Hall of Fame. He was great in Roman Holiday.

A note for Craig about the taste of beer: As a man enters his prime years (30ish to 50ish), his palate develops more bitter receptors.
The upshot being, once you pass 35, give beer another try. You will be pleasantly surprised.
Wallace and gromit was one of my childhood series’ so I’ll give any movie with that type of animation a chance

I just finished watching The Boxer with Daniel Day-Lewis and Emily Watson (Seen It?), making this my 163rd movie of the year and surpassing an incredibly fun New Year's resolution I had set for myself!! Best of luck to you both in 2018.

I think they meant not a household name in Hollywood, of course in the UK he was a TV legend for decades.

Sorry, but outside the UK, yes, not a household name. But in the UK, he was most famous for Last of the Second Wine. BUT YOU COMPLETELY UNDERSOLD HIS CAREER! Seriously, look at his IMDB, his acting career ended in 2010, but STARTED IN 1947 WHEN HE WAS 26!
He had a varied acting career, such as childrens TV, documentary, original Dr Who and even horror films, including a film that you guys have reviewed! Dracula!
I don't think he was in the one that we watched (Horror of Dracula, 1958), at least that's what IMDB says.
Yes, when we say "not a household name" we mean in the US. We know he's very popular in the UK.
thanks for the reply. You're right, there's been multiple Dracula films starting Christopher Lee as Dracula. The Horror of Dracula is 1958 (The film was renamed from Dracula to avoid confusion with a 1931 film), but Taste The Blood Of Dracula (with Sallis) is 1970. I simply didn't know that their was so many Dracula films with Lee starring, I thought it was just the one!

Hey guys I just wanted to pass on some sad news about Wallace and Gromit that you may or may not have heard. Last week Bob Baker co writer of the show passed way at the age of 82. I'm not sure what he died from it never said. Such a sad time for all us fans.

Awesome season, and can't wait until the next year! One gripe - I was not a fan of the dual commentary cuts during the film in this episode. They seemed more like bits that were funny, but contrived to be funny and not as natural as the rest of the season. Either way, this show remains one of my favorites. Keep up the great work!

Seen it? Buffalo '66, quite the love story with a great soundtrack, it also features a great "dancing" scene set to Moonchild by King Crimson. If you haven't seen it I highly recommend it!

I have a different reaction to the baby creature in Eraserhead than most people do. I felt really sorry for it and wanted to protect it. It was so small and helpless and in so much pain. I didn't find the baby scary or gross (well maybe a bit gross) or disturbing. Perhaps I'd have a different opinion if I was older and/or a parent.
Have you guys watched the Fantastic Planet? I'm getting it soon and I want to know if Im making a good purchase

yeeeah, the Loft! I've seen Eraserhead there, Blue Velvet, Inland Empire, Mulholland Drive...the Loft is good! it used to be owned by the U of A, may well still be, not sure. I should get over there more often.
Love the quality of the new camera, but can i suggest just a little colour grading to make it a little warmer like the old one?
