  • Here we show you guys how we get to port match the intake as perfect as we need to the Cylinder Head we are using on certain builds but also
    A simple trick or way we do it and its really an idea sourced from multiple platforms including the VW air cooled scene as I also got love for them flat 4
    like most engines I enjoy building.
    This also works the same when port matching a new or bigger throttle body to the intake manifold.
    As mentioned here is the gasket matching video we did and the not to's
    The dyno video of the B16a that runs this head and manifold we are using as example on this video is at full work here

      but yeah as u mentioned if we find the limits of the oem stuff? That also means we can find the limit of the aftermarket stuff or atleast have ideas how far the limit should be?

    As there is always a bit of movement on the mounting holes you should drill a couple of holes and install a couple of dowls (roll-pins) to always locate it perfectly every time.

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That’s true that’s true
      Or in this case set it to the bottom most it will as installing it on the stand or on the engine bay gravity helps keep it centered down…
      With multiple bolt holes it can center
      But yes definitely dowels are excellent and there are good spots left n right lost of the flange where it’s safe to locate
      Much like the VW ways

Sometimes a little reversion along the sides can be good with a polished roof and a rough floor for velocity on the long and tumble on the shorts, if placed strategically. But that's a different story. Yes very well said indeed. You're good at getting the point across really good... Probably even for your locals ayh...... 😂

    What up brother, will attempt this soon on a J series project! Just to make sure I understood correctly, you are port matching the IM to the head ports, but I have 2 questions. How did you get the template for the head? I know it starts as a blank canvas first but how did you create the ports on the template to match the heads exactly? Did you use an exacto knife, a pick, or what? Second, what is the blue dye on the IM ports? I know you use the template made from the head ports, to see what needs to be cut from the ports on the IM, but can you not just trace the outline on the IM ports or do I need this blue dye? If so, I assume you put the dye on the template and just press it up/align on the IM ports? Thanks in advance my man!

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The dye is dykem but u can also use a marker even color yellow 🤣
      X-acto knife will be way way better as the sharpness is better than the regular cutter
      One trick u can do is as u cut the intake gasket outline and holes for the studs/bolts ? Lay it on the head flange intake side…
      “Press” with ur thumb the perimeters of the ports” it will actually mark up good and lets u see it or it can be a guide to trace with a pen or pencil then u got an exact pattern intake gasket off the head port entry :)
