The Alpha box break got me curious about Magic, then I played Arena, now I've got 5 commander decks and attend locals twice a week. This channels so fun to watch!
This has legitimately turned into one of the best Magic content channels. Not just because Charlie, but the entire crew is frickin hilarious and they are fun to watch.
Great video! It noteworthy to mention that older sets were not created with commander in mind, therefore multi color/legendary creatures will be somewhat rare. This problem will get worse the further back in magic history you go. Therefore, It may be worth allowing any two mono color creatures to use partner (regardless of legendary status), or remove the commander color/legendary restriction altogether to increase deck building freedom.
54:33 Charlie saying "I should've killed you instead of playing for fun" is hilarious. It was for fun when he was messing with everybody while having the opportunity to win anytime, but now that that tables have turned he accuses everybody of playing for keeps and being mean lmao literally the arrogant anime villain
Because of the struggle to find Commander's with old sets - You guys should just make an errata to the format. If you do not open a Legendary Creature you can use: You can Partner up to Two The Prismatic Piper's as your Commander. They're just 5-mana 3/3's that let you pick a color, so someone could be a dual-color deck without praying they open the right "dual-color uncommon/common creature". Commander Legends had this same fear even though there were 1 billion Legends in the set - - So they made Prismatic Piper ( a colorless commander ) that picks a color before the game begins, so that you can get around the "feels bad" moment of not having a commander.
@@Chewy-Pudding They are trying to play commander, though. This advice is to make it easier to play commander specifically. If they wanted to play another format instead, I'm sure they would.
I am so happy I found this channel. Watching Charlie and friends play magic has gotten me so hooked onto magic now I can’t explain. Plus watching the other content with “the other channel” has been incredible. Love it😊
This was the set that got me into magic, little old me playing magic online in 2014 and 10 years later watching my favorite dudes brawl it out. This series is just too good.
The concept of this series is awesome, I know there's only a couple episodes so far but it'd be great if you guys could keep a playlist of this series!
Not only are you guys cracking and showing prices of these older cards, you're playing them in a way that no one would have played them back when these sets released! This is super fun.
Loved the episode. Cannot wait to see next weeks! A suggestion: you guys should add the newest set to the wheel when one comes off. That way there's always the chance to play the hot new thing next week! granted being a wheel there's no guarantee. But you get 4 episodes to every set release, at least, so it's not like you're adding a brand new set to the wheel every week.
this has been by far one of the funniest episodes by far between the shit talking and charlie seeming to have woke up on the wrong side of the bed lmao @27:18 charlie looks like an evil goblin while ryan looks at him with disappointment with what he just said
I started MTG just as Journey Into Nyx came out. I was in college just getting into it with my friends and all learning the rules together and playing whenever we had down time between classes and it's crazy to think it released a about a decade ago
I love the magic content I've been playing magic since I was 10 years old some of my best core memories for magic related like winning my first draft tournament at Friday night magic what is so awesome it's great to see the love for the game still so strong
Literally before watching this I was thinking they need to at least script 1 win for spicymatt feels good. Didn't care about magic or dnd at all before watching this channel now it's the highlight of the week, and got me wishing I had cool friends to play with.
After watching the water obstacle course, i feel extra bad for Ryan. He genuinely sounded pretty sad about his card being ruined in that video, and in this one, he's completely quiet through most of the pack openings. Seems like he was just really hoping for a cool "replacement" for the ruined card, and he didn't get it. I hope they make it up to him
Drew is really sneaky with how he politics. Charlie outright lied to Matt and Drew took advantage of the betrayal to turn on Charlie and get second without even having a boardstate. Definitely feel like people will get more weary of him in the future.
I think it might be a cool addition to make a second wheel with game modifiers to play with each battle. For example, shock collar could be moved over to that one, there could be stuff like choosing 1 card as a companion, everyone starts with mana crypt, everyone starts with 20 life, etc
It's funny because Matt had full control over who got second place in the end there. If he swung all out on Drew while Charlie was alive that would kill him and then he could use Coinsmith to deal 1 damage to Charlie and still win that game. Instead he killed the man who sheltered him the whole game.
i actually saw a guy get a god pack at the journey into nyx prerelease, the entire shop stopped to gawk at his pile of gods because nobody even knew about them back when it came out.
I had finally shaken my Magic addiction, but my love of Sir Charles has trained the algorithm to spoon feed me all moist content, and now here I am with three new decks....
Years ago when I first got into magic I actually remember playing king Macar, the gold cursed. When my friends and I first got into magic we made some pretty terrible decks that were almost always over 60 cards, and played with some pretty jank cards that we thought were amazing. The cards may have been jank, and we definitely botched the rules a few times. And for a good while we misread slivers as “silvers” but the fun we had was unparalleled.
I'm so happy that Charlie makes magic content, I've also recently got into it, feels great seeing him discover the hobby
Agreed. Started last May, and this is hype
Same I’m mad new and going to my first draft today!
@@thew0rm105 good luck today

Enjoy it! As a fellow newb I have fallen face and wallet first into this damn game lmao
Charlie completely turning on Matt then getting upset when Drew attacks him was hilarious
Ya ngl, Charlie kinda seems like a bit of a sore loser sometimes. Like he’s still leading overall but was clearly salty about Drews move here
Eok😢c 😢@@peaceroolz
@@peaceroolz I think you’re reading to far into it
Everyone is a sore loser sometimes
@@DaBeanieBaby15 definitely possible, but I’ve played a lot sports throughout my life, and he’s definitely giving some signs of a salty loser 🤷♂️

Any tips about getting into Arena as F2P, is just get matched against decks that don't interact with me and win on turn 4 or 5 xD
Boy that escalated quickly
@@tartuffethespry Fr wasn't the alpha box video like a month ago? 😂
same for me Im literally obsessed now.
I just love the flavour of mythic cards, shredded mythic on sourdough keeps me playing more
The salt from Charlie is the best part of this battle 😂
I dont think it can be overstated how gracefully Ryan loses. So refreshing, very mature. Much wow.
This has legitimately turned into one of the best Magic content channels. Not just because Charlie, but the entire crew is frickin hilarious and they are fun to watch.
This is revenge for Charlie and Ryan bullying drew and Matt the last two episodes 😂

This is unironically the best MTG content on TH-cam

They should just make it so any mono-color legendary creature has partner as well!
Sounds like a good idea honestly,a token commander if you will
@@Chewy-Pudding Commander is just more fun, but sure, they could play something shit instead

You can tell Charlie is a yugioh player at heart because of where he puts his deck
This is probably my favorite magic series at the moment. It’s really cool getting to see the older sets.
Charlie learned, Ruthlessness is mercy upon one’s self
journey into nyx was the first set i ever bought a box of, love this getting some love and love this channel!

This series is very Red Letter Media coded and I love it.
Thats a really cool format. Keep it going. wish i have so many friends that play magic and have money too to do that
When commanders are in the command zone, I like to spin them 180° to give an added visual clue that they are not in play
