Omg, Prof, just want to say how much I loved this season finale! It was so much fun to see you guys just chill, enjoy a super funny magic game, and crack up at every little thing.
Spice & Sam are truly some of the most fun guys you've had on, and Marcus was really spectacular, too.
Thanks for such a great vid, excited to see more in the following years!
What an ender! Wow.
HUGE props to the editor(s) btw (and everyone else involved behind the scenes!) What a great way to end the season, guys.
In response to the mathematician call,
1/2 of -40 is -20
-40 - (-20) is -20
So yes you would go back up in life.
What a game Prof. This is the best commander gameplay in the internet. Congrats for the season finale!!
Sam, Spice and the Prof sat there for 90 minutes engaged in psychological warfare against each other, while Marcus sat there like “I’m just gonna play some Transformers.” What a way to end the season of one of my favorite shows.
This is the edited version. The unedited would've lasted more than 90 minutes.
Just remember that Kant always wins.
Why "end the season"?
@@mortuc1
because this is the las episode of this season of SU&P, as stated at the begining of the video. Watching the video explains the video!
It was so fun to have the smartest people playing a game that was a philosophical nightmare and transformers. Transformers, the age of nothing, if you will.
Sam 100% took the Prof’s prompt as a genuine assignment and challenge. I expected nothing less from a true scholar, his deck theme was hilarious
A scholar indeed!
And gentleman, don’t forget gentleman.
Thinking autistic af. Lol.
sam's deck kept what would've been an otherwise uneventful early game lively and exciting lol
1:42:01 Yeah. He even eloquently played the F**ck All Y'all disk.
Sam and Spice are like the two kids who absolutely cannot be in the same class together or sit near eachother.
I’m a teacher and I approve this message.
I was one or both of those kids at some time in my life
This episode was truly a masterpiece
Me too
So flippin good 🎉
spike's comment about being "trapped in an escher painting" was perfect for how this game felt
We need another season immediately
It was and it wasn't
Ok, so that was BY FAR the best commander gameplay video I have EVER seen😂
😂 I was laughing the ENTIRE episode! My cheeks hurt..
Agreed. As soon as I saw the second Abyssal Persecutor hit the board, I checked the runtime and immediately knew what was going to happen.
@@TolarianCommunityCollege ❤
Absolutely
So lemme get this straight. Sam was roleplaying the riddler, Marcus was playing with Toys, Spice was going through an existential crisis and Prof was just trying to get them to play magic
Prof doing his best to wrangle all the kids to play magic 😂
Prof was playing monopoly
Spice having a crisis live on film while Marcus plays with his toys is a thing of glory
It's like different phases of insanity, one is struggling to comprehend what's going on while another is in denial reverting to a childlike state playing with his toys. 😂
Which is a good exposition of their respective channels also
“im just playing with my toy cars-“
This whole game felt like a fever dream, but when Spice took out the camera and snapped at the warhammer card I collapsed into a teseract and fell into the void laughing
Ah, so you joined spice and Sam then?

I just want to point out that Raoul Vitale had absolutely nothing to do with Sam's commander and I love that. That was probably my favorite mtg video of all time.
I was sitting here wondering what the hell that had to do with anything for the longest time
It's vaguely related, because it's a Theros land and Theros is based on Ancient Greece, and Sphinges were part of their myth.
It's really a stretch lmao 😂
Shouldn't he be using Amonkhet Islands since it's based on Ancient Egypt?
@@bricknolty5478its because this land is art from story where there are sphinxes and i dont remember is this os the sphinx. But its connected but not by a artist
Just what I've always wanted:
A recorded EDH match where a player loses not from combat damage, mill, or poison counters, but from a fatal brain aneurysm.
RIP SPICE
Spice brain: TOO MANY SYNTAX ERRORS
Truth be told, nobody lost: the game ended in a draw. :P
I defeated my opponent with alter of dementia one time with a ton of zombie tokens, does that count?
@therealax6 wrong, everyone lost, therefore the game ended in a draw :P
Someone please draw the events of this episode. Prof being a villain creating a void, Spice trapped in it with Sam spouting nonstop riddles, and Marcus in the playpen with his action figures.
Yes this would be awesome
Oo I love that idea
I’m picturing Spice stuck in a Superman-esque crystal prison and Sam’s just orbiting it spewing philosophical gibberish the whole time
except Sam was the Villian truly. He could ended the void that he created. Once he lost he figured everyone else would lose with him.
This would be absolutely amazing! 😅
I still remember when the prof announced he no longer had a job and would try to focus on the channel full time. And he was so unsure and anxious. It is such a relief and fantastic to see him thrive and run a successful channel and enjoying it.
Great job professor ❤

Hahahaha amen
Who let urza (but good) in here
Marcus just happily playing with his Transformers while everyone else was trying to figure out what was going on and how to stop it was just great.
Spice's comedic timing with "Neat!" followed by the disposable camera was immaculate.

Being sent to the void is fine actually. I don't care anymore
The Professor: some form of political malarkey
Spice: having an existential crisis
Rhystic Study: R A O U L V I T A L E
Marcus: dumping out his toy box and slamming them together.
Prof, Marcus, and Spice are playing checkers while Sam is playing 4D chess with the ghost of Socrates in the Upside Down

Riddles, existential dread, David Lynch impressions, Michael Bay jokes, Mighty Boosh references and evil plots… this is the best game of commander I’ve ever seen 😂
SAMEE
Not only that, but it ended in a four way draw, which to me is just poetic justice

i really wanna know what was going through rhystic's mind when he saw spice8rack get inflicted with the demon that prevented it from winning the game. like he saw that thing hit the board and immediately realized that he could turn this from a kinda funny game of magic the gathering into the funniest possible game in the world.
While it was funny, it also not a bad play. It is a big flample unit and it protects 8rack and while he and his demon on the field he is protected. Meanwhile he can flip his demon facedown just whenever causing him to lose and then anyone with negative life to lose. He was just playing a meme deck.
He took the content route
I think this is my favorite commander video I've ever seen
Ah shoot The Professor is watching, I better get back to my studies
@@SquatchHammer perhaps your... RHYSTIC STUDIES?!
Rewatching for the 2nd time
1:41:23 Hilariously casting the All is Dust is suicide, since it can't make Spice8Rack's Abyssal Persecutor be sacrificed because of Jon Irenicus' effect, but Sam's Vesuvian Doppleganger can. So the Vesuvian Doppleganger will get sacrificed and Spice8Rack will lose the game, causing the Abyssal Persecutor to move back to the Professor's control, making him lose the game as well. Meaning only Marcus and Sam would tie/lose last. So Sam activating the Disk was him also commiting suicide.
It wouldn't change control it would just get exiled
@@winstonbicklebert1989 The Abyssal Persecutor was given via Jon Irenicus' ability, thus by rule 102.6a when Spice8Rack loses the Professor's change-of-control effect will end returning control of it back to the Professor.
102.6a When a player leaves the game, all objects owned by that player leave the game and any change-of-control effects which give that player control of any objects end.
And when the professor gains control of the persecutor, he loses, and then everyone else also loses.
The disc would not be suicide but end the whole thing in a draw, no? Since both Abyssal Persecutors would die since they aren't indestructible or anything
@@ThatGuy-jc2tw The disc wasn't but the All is Dust is. The All is Dust would cause Sam to Sacrifice his Doppelganger, which would kill Spice. Spice can't sacrifice the Abyssal Persecutor thanks to Jon Irenicus' ability. Spice's death would send the Abyssal Persecutor back to the Professor. The Professor would lose the ability to not lose the game and would then lose the game. Then when the Professor loses the game, Abyssal Persecutor dies, and Sam and Marcus then lose. This means that technically only Marcus and Sam Draws.
Thankfully, Sam used the disc, making everyone lose at the same time.
That Disk saved you all from the gruesome Judgecall of "All is Dust, but these things can't be sacrificed"
while true. the game would still end because Spice would have lost the game when Sam sacd the copy.
@@ryuj7693 the copy would inherit the base rules text wouldn't it? similar to mutate?
@@nicolbolas5934 Yes, but the can't be sacrificed is added on by another effect. And i don't believe copying would include that part?
@@nicolbolas5934the copy does not inherit the can't be sacrificed clause, the same way copies don't inherit +1 counters

😂 "That's not a judge call, that's a mathematician call" 😂
The perfect end to a perfect season.
Thanks for the content everyone! ❤
A curious situation, since the game was created by... mathematicians!
Amusingly, there is an actual ruling on that situation.
There is no change in life total.
"If you attempt to halve a negative life total, you halve 0. This means that the life total stays the same. A life total of -10 would remain -10."
I like the rule 0 where Marcus's skysovereign is allowed to hit Prof's face and not just a creature or planeswalker. 😆
Good catch!
But at least they had a judge call on missing one sacrifice trigger lol
LoL
I’m just gonna assume that Marcus would’ve attacked prof more if he wasn’t able to bolt him with skysoverign and it didn’t actually affect the outcome of the game
untap, upkeep, tears, fears, draw, question everything, precombat main, declare attackers, professor draws, declare blockers, damage, sacrifice a permanent, postcombat main phase, sacrifice bottle gnomes, endstep, pass.
I was wondering why would this be the season finale, but after witnessing what was done to the guests this time around, I think I get it now.
Raoul Vitale happens to be my step uncle, and it was really cool to see Sam go from randomly mentioning his name in a previous episode of this from a miscellaneous Island in his deck to making my step uncle a pivitol part of his mind games. By the way, he pronounces his name like "rally" without the "y", so just rall. I don't understand why that is the case, but I figured it best to not worry about it too much. Keep up the awesome videos, and I can't wait for more shenanigans in the future!
It's all mind games
My favorite part of this episode was that Spice's intro was "I'm being held captive here."... He had no idea how true that was....
Edit: don't know if anyone said this yet but, multiplying a negative number by 1/2 is an increase in the number
Super late reply so my apologies, but there is a ruling on Ebonblade Reaper that "if you attempt to halve a negative life total, you halve 0." It's not mathematically what happens, but I think it works best for gameplay for it not to turn into a positive.
@@taylorsherry4784 The reasoning for this I believe is this rule here:
107.1b Most of the time, the Magic game uses only positive numbers and zero. You can’t choose a negative number, deal negative damage, gain negative life, and so on. However, it’s possible for a game value, such as a creature’s power, to be less than zero. If a calculation or comparison needs to use a negative value, it does so. If a calculation that would determine the result of an effect yields a negative number, zero is used instead, unless that effect doubles or sets to a specific value a player’s life total or a creature’s power and/or toughness.
note that we're halving not doubling, so that doesn't apply.
If you were to double, you would get double negative life.
@@blinky101 So it *was* a judge call and not a mathematician call after all!
Fascinating how there's rules that get in the way of the otherwise normal maths thing of subtracting with a negative.
"And in the end, the caretaker spirit, an earless elf, a bunch of transformers, and a flock of sphinxes all walked hand in hand into the endless void. Larry Nevin got his revenge, and they all perished happily ever after."

The way my jaw dropped when I realized what Sam had done after the Egg was flipped, the entire sequence there. Sam is just a brilliant man.
Spice's life counter portrait changing to reflect him going insane due to the game being so confusing was such a good idea
the sound effects that marcus uses whenever he transforms his cards just keeps reminding me of thst "optimum pride" meme
