According to lawyers Tilleke and Gibbins "Under the notification (2020), there will still be a duty for landlords or hotel owners to submit a T.M.30 form to an immigration office within 24 hours of a foreign national staying at their premises. However, they are no longer required to resubmit a T.M.30 form every time a foreign national returns to stay at the same place, which was an onerous requirement under the previous version of notification, issued in 1979."

HI, just found your informative channel and subscribed. Very helpful advice on this confusing subject. I myself am heading to Thailand in may to looks at the local rural rental options as I plan to move there permanently at the end of the year from Australia. I was told you can apply for this Non Immigrant O retirement visa in Australia before I leave permanently ? Is this right? And that the multi exit stamp is applied for over there ( Valid how long? ) All I then do is the 90 day reporting during my new life.... Cheers mate

I understand you can apply for the Visa in Australia. Not sure how long it takes. The Re-Entry Permit is valid for the term of your Visa or at least mine is. I do my 90 Day reporting by mail but some do it online or in person. Good luck with everything.

The TM30 doesn't have an expiration date and immigration only knows a change of address when someone submits a new TM30 with your passport number. If you leave Thailand and return to the same address as the TM30 in your passport the address in the immigration system and the TM30 in your passport are still in synch. I don't believe for a moment that your visa doesn't require a TM30, it does. I do believe the immigration agent looked at the TM30 in your passport and saw that the address was the same as in the immigration system and that you don't need to do anything because they are in synch. I think the assumption that the act of leaving and re-entering the country somehow cleansed your TM30 records is incorrect. Unless you stay somewhere else in Thailand and a landlord or hotel submits a new TM30 for a new address the original address will remain on file. I could be wrong but I think this is a far more plausible explanation than your current understanding.

When I was on an O-A Non Imm Visa my Immigration Office wanted a new TM30 everytime I returned from overseas. I was surprised that since I changed my Visa to O they don't need it anymore.
