Hello friends, thanks once again for visiting my channel, it is much appreciated. In this video I am talking about the re-entry permit for Thailand. If you are staying long term in Thailand and you want to leave and go abroad and return, then you will need a re-entry permit. In this video I go over what a re-entry permit is, how to get one and how much they cost. I hope this video is of some use to you.

    Hi Ben,
Great video, just need to know how to apply for 3 months Visa to Thailand.
Is it better to apply in Australia before arrive or better apply when arrived in Thailand with 30 days then apply for another 2 months?

My understanding is that you can, but would recommend checking online as I have never applied for a re entry permit on tourist visa.

Thanks Ben. I'm on a retirement visa. I leave Thailand on August 15 and return early Sept. If I go to Immigration Office in Bangkok (Chaeng Wattana), when should I go? How long did it take to get your re-entry permit? Was there any trick questions that an IO agent ask? If I decide to go to the airport and my flight was at 1am in the morning, is the Immigration office open and where? I'm just afraid of losing my retirement visa so I'm being very careful. Thanks.

If it was me I would go to your local immigration and apply for the re-entry permit as soon as is convenient, my understanding is they are valid for the length of your visa. It is very quick and easy to get the re-entry permit, once you are at the front of the que it should be done in around 5 minutes. Applying for a re-entry permit is a much simpler job than applying for a visa, no trick questions as far as I am aware.

@@benjoewalker Thanks for the response. Can my friend or an agent do it for me? If an agent, what's a fair fee? Thanks again.

@@gtwocgsf I believe someone can go on your behalf, however I do not know the process or have an idea what the fee would be I am sorry.

Be aware, if you use a re-entry permit, your Thai spouse/landlord will need to contact Thai immigration within 24 hours of your return to re-register your permanent address in Thailand, even if it is the same address as when you left and the one Thai Immigration already know you are living at. This will entail them logging onto the Thai Immigration website, doesn't seem to work for IPhones or Android phones, so use a laptop. They have to fill out the required form and attach copies of their ID/passport, Tabian Baan and property deeds. This may require you and them visiting your local Thai Immigration office, as the website has numerous issues. Good luck, I have to go to my local office tomorrow, having just returned from a holiday in Laos. Did you really think it would be straight forward??

Hi Ben, thank you for the information. Not related to this video but do you know how many times can we use the visa exemption rule in a year. Some say that we can only use it once a year, some say we can use it many times by flying to Malaysia or any neighboring country. I am confused about that. If you have some time it would be great to make content about up-to-date info about that as it is a really fast-changing issue for Thailand :( thanks in advance

I don't know the answer to that question I am sorry, from a search online: www.thaiembassy.com/thailand-visa/thai-visa-exemption-and-bilateral-agreement
"Holders of normal passports of the following countries are granted visa-free travel to Thailand for a period of up to 30 days. The exemption is granted at most twice in a calendar year when entering over land or via a sea border but there is no limitation when entering by air."
However after a few visaless entries I would imagine issue at passport control.
