    I got a definite chuckle watching you toss those boxes. It reminded me of a mobile mechanic that answered a call for help when I was young and in college. He came to my location, opened my hood and started removing car parts from under the hood and tossing them over his shoulder. "You don't need this! You don't need that!" All the while I was staring in horror at pieces of my car ending in the ditch. Btw, he did get my car started and it ran fine.
    Great video and enjoyed it immensely!

    Carey I can attest to Corsair's customer service. I once had one of their AIO liquid coolers (the old H100) and one of the hoses broke off and the liquid got all over my motherboard, video card, and power supply, and in doing so killed those parts. Long story short, I contacted Corsair immediately, and I took a picture of it along with my receipt, and they reimbursed me for everything, I was astounded. One of the best if not the best companies in terms of customer support IMO.

    Hi Carey. Just want to say a MASSIVE thank you for your videos. A couple of days ago my computer, which is the core of my business, completely broke. No power at all, wouldn't switch on.
    Thanks to your videos I was able to diagnose a faulty PSU, and replaced it myself at no cost (had a spare in my old comp) when it would have cost me a small fortune at a high street store to mend.
    Have subscribed and looking forward to building my own system soon.
    Thanks again!

    I bought 64Gig of Corsair RAM 4 years ago. They have limited life time warranty on them. Had lots of BSODs lately and after much testing found it to be one of the Corsair sticks. Looks like Corsair are following through with the return. They've asked me to send it back. Appears as they were bought in 2 packs of 4, I have to send the other 3 of the set back as well, despite them being fine.
    Although it's been a week and they haven't replied to the ticket since agreeing to the return. I just wanted them to confirm the other 3 sticks need to be returned.

    +1 for Corsair Support.
    I bought a Corsair K95 from amazon earlier this year. The parcel arrives in a couple weeks (shipped to Australia) and it turns out the keyboard backlight is faulty, constantly changing colours when it shouldn’t be. I emailed Corsair and within a couple weeks I had a brand new defect-free replacement, no questions asked.

    G.Skill has great customer support as well. I had a issue with a bricked ssd and DDR 4 Memory on a Ryzen platform getting the SPD corrupted. both times they took great care of me and had a very prompt RMA service and shipped me a new ssd that one time and replaced the DDR 4 Memory that got corrupted. companies like Corsair and G.Skill really stand behind their products! great video Cary!

    I had same fan issue with an NZXT case bought in the UK, & it was quicker to email NZXT direct for a replacement fan posted to me from the US, than deal with the UK e retailer. So thanks to NZXT. Very good video again plenty of information, thank you Carey, Just a note to say I have almost finished my first PC build, this last weekend just one or two things to do to finish, had a slight problem with that pesky usb3 plug managed somehow to bend a couple of the pins on the motherboard, but managed to get them straight again and the connector plugged in and all working. Thanks Uncle Carey for the video's to inspire me to move to building a pc from repairing them. some picture to send to you shortly.

    I only use pcpartspicker to have a record of the builds that I want to do or have done. I never have actually bought parts directly from the website or from any of the dealers on it except from Newegg. NewEgg usually has a good RMA process if you catch their return window in time. I had a HDD that started clicking immediately upon start up and then would not spin up. Contacted customer service via their website and had an RMA ticket done. New HDD arrived the next week. That HDD is still going strong after 6 years. I do have a new HDD mirrored just in case.

      Problem with Newegg is if something DOA & you don't like, they sometimes force an exchange instead of allowing you to refund or switch items. I prefer Amazon Prime, as I can return anything, for any reason, no questions asked, and get my money back or a different item, or a replacement. But I still use Newegg for many parts, too.

    Hey Carey, I know this video is old and I saw it on my recommended page and I had an experience with Corsair too.
    I bought a Corsair 88r a couple of years back and I wanted to install radiator in the front (the case did not have any long screws, which was fine)
    I emailed Corsair for those long screws, they asked for proof of purchase and sent me screws after a week. Not just the 4 screws but an entire screw set that should have come with the case.
    I've been confident with Corsair cases for the last couple of years.

    Cary, for building basic builds, the 200R is my #1 choice for cases. I’ve even built in the 780T for my own personal build before I swapped parts into the Lian-LI PC-08WX due to the aesthetics I wanted within it. As far as most parts go, the Corsair stuff I’ve always liked, and swear by them as much as you do. My first build was inside a 200R, and due to how easy it is to build in it, I definitely will keep using it for pretty most if not all of my builds.

    Even hand tool companies are starting to do warranty this way. They just want verification you bought it, and of upc code or image of item that is defective. It is the cheapest way to handle warranty, as well as PROTECT THE BRAND. It is also much faster and less brain damage for consumer to not have to kill time with awaiting a determination.

    The losse term of lifetime warranty in the USA is x.x most are limited lifetime x.x and get to be determined by them . EVGA is probably one of the fastest manufacture for doing an RMA . Some places I have delt with were quite slow. Coolermaster is a pain on there RMA's though and want any fans that fail sent back to be tested for 1-2weeks to then maybe say yours seems faulty . Glad to here Corsair was speedy

    I will agree that corsair has amazing customer service, I had a aio stand off break off into a thumb screw while loosening it off to upgrade my system. I went on their website and messaged them about it and they sent me out a whole new mounting kit. On the other hand I had a coolermaster power button break on a case and they just told me I could buy a new one from their website and didn't even offer to send me a new one. After that I decided to never buy anything coolermaster ever again and I now only buy corsair products if they make them. Have a few corsair cases power supply's and keyboards now and they are all great. Haven't had anything else happen yet but I'm glad I know if it does corsair will most likely help me out.

    I got the tall corsair tower and the front door that you push in and it swings out had broken within a week. I eemailed them and I just sent them the photo of the reciept and within oe week had a brand new door..no charge..I was really suprised. Had my case over 5 years and still going good. I definitly have room to grow in it. it stands almost 2 ft. tall and with the way video cards are groing longer and bulkier...(bulk or width (3 bays some of them ) I never can understand that) I definitly have the room for future mods. Thats why I got this case. My old one would never had fir the video card I have now and the harddrive spaces with option of ssd notbook size as well as regular size hhd...its got it all in there no special mods to buy to install.

    I've had to do a few RMA's now, worst one was with ASUS, it took 3 months to get my motherboard sent and returned back working after replacing the USB 3.0 header, by far the best experience I had was with Toshiba OCZ, I RMA my 256gb RD400 m.2 drive and they just straight sent out a nice new and shiney OCZ RD400 NVMe M.2 and they like you didn't want the broken m.2, I just binned it.

    Totally agree, Corsair and EVGA are among the best vendors simply for their support structure. I've heard ASROCK and MSI are good too for motherboards. Having recently gone through Gigabyte RMA process, I can't say I will ever be using Gigabyte Producs ever again. It wasn't horrible, but extremely sluggish. They did eventually replace my motherboard (Bad voltage controller which unfortunately caused more damage than just the motherboard) but I'll probably go for ASROCK from now on, especially since my next build will probably be a Zen2 and not a Coffeelake like I originally intended. (I would go EVGA for intel build though)

      Hobo Misanthropus your motherboard from gigabyte sounds like mine. I got it switched out for an Asus board instead of continuing to use it. I think my 1700x has degraded a bit as a result. I need to get around to getting an rma done with gigabyte about that board as it did fry 2 of its own usb ports.

    Wish I could say the same thing about corsair.. Had faulty RAM that I needed to RMA, it was approved within a day and I sent it the same day it was approved. It was there within 2 days and then it took 2 days for the replacement to ship from Taiwan and about 4 for it get here. However, as the day it was supposed to be out for delivery corsair sudden requested the RAM be sent back. They claim it was because of FedEx, and they would resolve it. But almost a week later they asked for another address and I provided another because I didn't want to waste anymore time. 2 days later there has been no activity from corsair and after calling them they assured me they would check on it to make sure it had been shipped. Still no activity. So i'm stuck without my computer that I just recently built and spent well over 2000 dollars on because I don't have any other modules of DDR4 RAM. This is a nightmare and I definitely don't think I'll ever use corsair support again.

    • @ArtisChronicles
      @ArtisChronicles 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cyphon sorry to hear about your experience with them. Bad experiences in Canada with gigabyte is the reason I'm hesitant to start an rma with them. hope your issues get resolved shortly if they haven't been already.

    • @shadowdragon624
      @shadowdragon624 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! Thankfully, the RAM finally came a couple days after my comment. It was delivered to the second address with no notification and I still haven't heard back from the team. The RAM seems to be working fine for now, but I hope there is no more issues. I'm still a huge fan of Corsair products for their quality, but in the rare case they go bad, I might be hesitant to try again. I hope that if you're having issues with a part you can RMA it smoothly! I've never dealt with Gigabyte personally, but haven't exactly heard anything bad about them either. Best of luck!

    • @wyzemann
      @wyzemann 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Never throw out ANY boxes is my method. My recent RMA with a near 2 year old Antec EDGE PSU insisted that I send it back in the same retail box as per their policy, albeit without the modular cables. They were so wonderful and actually replaced it with a brand new unit with the cables😁.

    • @ervingoss5442
      @ervingoss5442 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The wife hates when I keep all theses boxes, but I still do. They've even come in handy with other things after a few years like storing Christmas decorations. I also have kept some of the old parts like Carey mentioned about the switches. After building 7 plus computers things start to come in handy with trouble shooting.

    • @AMDRyzenEnthusiastGroup
      @AMDRyzenEnthusiastGroup 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just take photos of UPC symbols and all the serial/part numbers on the boxes. After awhile those boxes start to pile up. Besides, 9/10 times I don't RMA in the original box anyway, unless it's an item that's DOA, which rarely happens. Then of course I use the OEM box.

Need lots of usbs for 14 printers I already own (2,0). I have 5 external hard drives full of graphics that I use all day. They can use 3.0 usb..... or internal!!!I NEED LOTS OF USB and don’t know how to get them, $2500. To $2800. The thing is I have an old ddr3 NVIDIA QUADRO FX4700 x2 that I bought and never used!! BRAND NEW! www.nvidia.com/object/product_quadro_fx_4700_x2_us.html. I would love to use. But if not so be it. I know ddr3 is old school but jeepers I paid a fortune for it. oh lol you thought i was one of the pc parts picker facbook guys. I am just a I.T guy that is happy to help in his free time
      .here is a quick intel 8700k build thrown together pcpartpicker.com/list/mfmqGf right now the price for the 8700k is way up because of low stock and they are just on pre order. but if you dont want to wait i am sure there is a x299 or x99 build i could do. an easy way to get the bunch of usb ports that you need is buy some of these www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA1DS5528295&cm_re=usb_hub-_-9SIA1DS5528295-_-Product or something simmilar this was just a quick search you can theoretically split a usb port into 127 connections and each hub counts as one device but thats still alot of usb ports there are usb hubs with more connections then the one linked and probably priced better to. but with your budget you could easily also get a gtx 1080 if you wanted more gpu power but even a cheap 1060 6gb would be a large improvement over the fx 4700 in gpu power even for rendering unless you have specific programs that need that card
      or you could go with a ryzen 1700 build pcpartpicker.com/list/FWfHXH
      or with your large budget you could even go all out and get a amd thread ripper build it would take much closer to your max price though
      pcpartpicker.com/list/bPKBM8
      these builds are just a very fast thrown together builds if you decide in a direction you go i can help you finialize things but id recommend not building around ddr3 as the best cpu you can get is an old x79 cpu that you would need to buy used to make it worth it. your old gpu is not really worth building a system around either
      are you looking for someone to build you a pc? it sounds like you have experience in building and that would be your best bet if you are confident in doing it and save your self some money. its a lot of info to absorb on which one to go with but you sounded to be at least tech savy so I didnt suger coat it. but if you need a more of an answer of which system should i get and not all the options let me know. but i would caution against buying an old x79 build new as the price for what they are is not worth it. if they suggest that to you on the facebook page to buy an old cpu new dont follow it

    I bought a new machine on ebay which has a corsair psu, the psu makes a noise when its been on for a while, corsair know the psu is under warranty from the serial no, but they wont swap it as i dont have a receipt for it!

    • @CareyHolzman
      @CareyHolzman  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That sounds reasonable. I'm not aware of any manufacturer that will honor a warranty without a receipt.

      CareyHolzman But they know the item has warranty via the serial number.

      Terry Elvin there are 2(mostly) different kinds of warranty. Transferable and Non transferable. The latter is what's on 99% of products.
      Non transferable is only good for the original purchaser.

      CareyHolzman EVGA is the only manufacture that really let's the warranty go with the product that I know of. Most follow with the original receipt. Evga's system is quite nice for used evga products as they still carry there warranty for the used buyers.

      Damien I was looking at EVGA psu’s, they look good & are very reasonably priced.

    Hey CareyHolzman. like you said, if I do the rebate, and I will lose my upc code, Does that mean I cant claim warrenty anymore?

    • @CareyHolzman
      @CareyHolzman  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, Corsair informed me (after watching this video) that the lot code can be found on the product.

    Last week, I have contact Corsair because the door for my Corsair 760T have broke. Corsair say to me ''you need to send your complete case to have a RMA''. Me ''wait what the complete case just for a door ?!'' Corsair ''yes plus shipping, duty,''. Tha'ts why I have quit Corsair.

    Yes I do think so. It's in the rules and when you make death threats, create over 15 accounts to pretend to be other people just to harass one person you deserve to be banned for life. Same with posting child porn. You really think those people deserve a second chance?

    I will never buy Corsair again as I have been ignored by them with no answer on a broken part.
