      +CareyHolzman any time dude, i saw someone on the forum ask about what monitor they needed. and it reminded me of your quote of the part wher eyou talked about, what you need it for, what you need it to do. Someone told me that was an excellent reply and the origonal poster never responded lol. Do you have any videos on cable managment tips on gaming ATX mid ranged machines? Im trying to figure out ways to hide the wires some more. but cant think of any right now when i keep taking case off becauase looking at those wires really bother me lol. Granted, its not over heating now. but id still like it tucked away.

      Hi Carey, I’ve seen a couple of your videos and thought I’d drop you a line. I would like to build my own computer for trading, it will require quite a bit of memory as well as being heavy on graphics. I need to simultaneously run for now at least four screens(27 inch monitors) and will eventually be adding two more. Have you done any videos on trading stations or could you do one at some point? From what I’ve heard, because a setup like am describing needs to be running daily and constantly multitasking, I’ll need something akin to a gaming system. I would like to build one as powerful and reliable as possible with a $1500 budget. Am I kidding myself or is this actually possible?

    I've spent most of a wet and windy Sunday watching a few of your knowledgeable and very entertaining videos. I built my own Intel Dual Core 775 Desktop in late 2007. With a few mods since then and Win10 upgraded last year, it has performed pretty much flawlessly; general purpose use - no gaming. I'd like to do an upgrade this year, so coming across your channel definitely inspires me to do just that. Great work 🖥📌👍🇬🇧

    Another great video, Carey! You might mention that humidity also helps with ESD concerns. I used to scoff at ESD protection, but have to admit to blowing an occasional MOSFET or high density chip that I couldn't explain otherwise. Of course an ESD mat and wrist strap provide maximum protection; I learned this at my last day job as a top level Avionics technician - but then, you're the computer guy and I've never worked on computers except to recap a motherboard when they start bulging. I fully defer to your wisdom and experience!

    Hes so right I built my PC over the summer with FX 6300 CPU and did fine with some games than this Christmas time got a i5 6600k now I get to take out the MB and ram and basically get to re build it! I think that half the fun of building your own PC is that you can make it your own. I am even about to cut out the tower on side panel and put plexi glass window to see my components. Love it!

    Going to start my first ever build computer and this video really helped give me confidence. Agree about the optical drive. I may just get an external for my first ever build. I've hardly ever used mine that much in my current system. Other than the operating system, everything else was downloaded off the internet, including Steam games and a few digital download games purchased at Amazon.

    I have been doing this work for over 20 years, but I have learned much from these videos. They are better than any A+ training videos, and I highly recommend him. Carey is right: take your time and enjoy the process. I personally like buying used boards with quad-core CPUs attached and then use a new, high-quality power supply. Another strategy is to use an off-lease Dell Optiplex, and re-image with Windows 7 or 10. This makes a good work station for under $300. Here in the North East, even wealthy clients do not want to spend much on a new PC, so we stick with these off-lease units. I prefer Intel boards and CPUs, Crucial RAM, Cooler Master power supplies, and the NVidia Ti-Series cards for gaming as they are quiet when you are doing routine tasks. Another must is an SSD for your C drive. With an SSD, you need less system RAM and get very fast boot-up with Windows 10.

  • @david78212
    @david78212 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I know this is a old video, but it completely applies at all times.
    What he said about figuring out what you need totally depends on what you plan on doing with it. I used to work at a computer store and it NEVER failed, you ask what they plan on doing with the computer and they say “a little web-browsing, some e-mail, and some basic word processing”... 4 days later they would bring the machine back and complain that it wouldn’t play the most graphically intense game out at the time. We even had a “questionnaires” for them to fill out, and they STILL lied. Be completely honest in what you plan on doing with the computer, it makes a HUGE difference and will greatly affect your playing experience.
    All computers are NOT the same!

    at 30:07 to 30:40 that's what I did when, I hand picked and hand built, my computer I took time for 3 years before I build my first computer. I bought my computer in 2014 and it has not failed in 4 years and probably won't because I took the time to make everything neat and clean it every 6 months. I went with an H100i Liquid cooler, because I bought an amd9590 and it gets massively hot and does not come with a stock fan at all, when I was using an air cooler the temps were in the 50 range at idle while gaming above 80/90 so in some cases extra cooling for the right job is needed. I see from watching this video this build here does not need extra cooling. I do live stream and video editing and gameplay recording all in one with my build so the extra cooling was needed. I run below 40 now steady on pretty much, all things I do with the computer he's right about taking time to find out what you needed that's what I did in 2014. I have had 0 problems before you build one get someone who knows, how to build computers or watch videos of people doing it for a living, it will be so much easier that's what I did before I built mine, this video has helped me out in the first 30 minutes thanks, I plan to one day to start my own tech channel for crazy computer builds or just walkthroughs.

    The i7 4790k was the best CPU for crunching Excell spreadsheets. I know a Buisiness in my town, that uses the i7 4790K in Dell computers, and they have been flawless for years.

    I know this is an old video but perhaps you may read the comment. I think the connector labels facing the outside edge of the motherboard actually goes back to the original 8088 platform that was a horizontal desktop case. In that configuration the tech would be seeing the connectors and the labeling from the outside edge. This would also follow for rack mount cases. It is very possible that the standard even originated outside of the PC world with other electronic platforms since pin headers have been used forever. I am actually glad we have the connectors and labels. Without them we would be back to wire wrapping the pins.
