- Looking for a great case for your iPad Pro 11 with strong magnets, multiple viewing angles and the ability to be securely positioned in both portrait and landscape? The SHIFT Magnetic Case by ESR may be perfect for you. You can position your iPad in two landscape modes...regular and elevated...as well as a portrait mode, and the stand can be placed at nine different angles. Six of these are primarily intended for viewing, and those come with extra ventilation to keep your iPad Pro cooler, and the remaining 3 positions are quite low and perfect for typing. All nine of these stand positions are secured via magnetic attachment, making them very stable. The SHIFT also comes with a magnetically detachable inner case that gives a good amount of protection to your iPad. It isn't drop rated, but it has protection on all four sides and seems like it should provide decent protection against everyday bumps. There is a raised rim around the rear camera, and all the buttons work well. The magnets on the inner case are so strong that the inner case can even be attached magnetically onto your fridge. The SHIFT does add some weight and thickness to your iPad, but overall I think it is an excellent product for the iPad Pro 11.

I reviewed SHIFT for the iPad Pro 11 Inch (2022 version), but ESR has a version of the SHIFT for the new 2024 iPad Pro 11 as well, and as far as I can see, it appears to be just the same as the version I reviewed. Many thanks to the kind folks at ESR for sending me out this sample to review! The SHIFT is available both from ESR's own website as well as from Amazon and it is priced between $42.99 and $47.99 depending on the color chosen. It comes in the lovely purple color shown in this review as well as black, brown and blue.

Another dope video looks good and having different colours is great . Nice to see the port opening exact. Thanks as always 😎
Thanks, Mary! I’m loving this iPad Pro case…it’s so versatile with all the various angles, and it makes the iPad Pro feel very secure in your hands. Love the purple color as well!! Thanks so much for watching (as usual!) and have a great week!! ❤️
Great review, thank you so much
My pleasure! Glad you liked it!! It's a really nice product...I've been enjoying having it on my iPad Pro (2022) and I'll be reviewing it soon for the iPad Pro M4 (2024)!
Solid review thanks!
Thanks, Kelvin! Thanks for watching! Are you getting the new iPad Pro 2024?
@@TheTechReviewer Well maybe, I'm really considering the 13 air looks good
Lots to love there as well!!
I'm an illustrator so that lowest angle will be very useful. Thanks for the review.
Hi Rene! I think you’ll find that low angle useful. It’s a solid case!! Are you looking at it for the 2022 iPad Pro or the new 2024 version?
@@TheTechReviewer 2024 M4
@ReneAlexisPenalozaMunoz I’ll be reviewing the Shift for the 2024 IPad Pro 11 inch M4 soon, so stay tuned!
Usually these cases add a good amount of weight. What about the inside cover? Is that heavy as well?
The case does add weight to have all that functionality, but I don’t think the inner case is very heavy.
I would stick with the Zugu when it’s out. The ESR felt a bit too bulky and heavy with the M4, while when I took a combined weight of my 2018 11” iPad Pro, with its Zugu, it came out way lighter. Weight and bulk matters a lot. With the new M4 being thinner and lighter, the added bulk and weight of the ESR would defeat the very purpose.
Thanks for sharing! Appreciate the data points. I hope to get a chance to check out Zugu's cases when they come out😊
I have that case and the color for the M4 iPad Pro 2024.
Nice!! I hope you are loving it?? Purple is my favorite color!!
@@TheTechReviewer yes
😍
Great case but the ESR pencil pro does not magnetically charge on the iPad Air 13” m2
Yes…the new iPads are pretty limiting in that area. The ESR Pencil Pro will work with the iPads, but you have to charge it separately…no cool wireless charging.
It's really versatile and good looking. But the only downside of this model is 'weight'. It weighs heavier than its rival like zugu and pitaka.
You are right that it is somewhat heavy, but I think that is inevitable if you want to have a solid, stable multi angle stand case. I don’t have any experience with Zugu’s product, but Pitaka’s cases, although well designed and attractive, aren’t going to offer as much protection and versatility in viewing angles as this ESR Shift…
@TheTechReviewer one thing I would like to request if you are from ESR. Pls add a grey or silver, I think it would be more match colour with iPad Pro models. I like the brown ones only among current colour options.
Hi @ThanTunBaba! I'm not affiliated with ESR, so I can't help you there. I just review products for them when they send me samples. However, I can totally see your point...a grey or silver version of this case would be cool!
How many degrees for the lowest angle to write?
Good question! According to the data on ESR's site, the lowest typing/writing/drawing angle for the 2022 Shift is 15 degrees: www.esrgear.com/products/ipad-pro-11-2022-2021-shift-magnetic-case/
I want more colors😢.
What color do you want ESR to add?
;))) Fastest...
❤️ Appreciate your loyal viewing, as usual, @gokwolf!!
Too much layers. ESR definitely copied Zugu and just added an inner case.
Hi Jonathan! I don’t have any experience with Zugu’s iPad cases, so I can’t comment on that. But I do appreciate the ability to take the Shift apart and only use the inner case. Using a naked iPad makes me too nervous!!
This was the very reason I switched to this from Zugu. It is great when just holding the iPad to be be to detach it resulting in a much lighter carry. Also it fits nicely on my cross trainer like this whereas with Zugu I had to keep completely removing it from the case.
