    I remember using the first version of Paperlike on my iPad Pro in 2018. For writing, it was ok, but for making art? It was rubbish due to the severe colour distortion. The rainbow stripes were so bad, yet none of the reviewers (some were artists) at the time pointed out the obvious flaw. Don't know about the newer versions, but after that experience alone I've learnt not to trust TH-cam reviewers over Paperlike because they're mostly just paid ads.

      I have the same concern really - I’m unsure how much I believe it could have improved….I’m not an artist but it seemed like such a waste of a great looking screen at the times I wasn’t taking notes.

    I just ordered an ESR protector because I used to have a Paperlike but my puppy decided he was curious about my iPad when I accidentally left it within his reach and he nibbled at it badly enough that the screen protector has an annoying gash in it, but thankfully, the Paperlike did its job and did, indeed, protet the screen. The Paperlike is however very pricey and I have noticed that it seems to show wear pretty easily. Hopefully my pup doesn't test the ESR's capabilities when I get it, but if I do, I'll be sure to report the results. This video does give me some comfort in that it does seem like the ESR should hold up pretty well.

    Just saying, The paperlike was installed incorrectly on the second go as well - You installed it upside down, which can happen very easily. When installed upside down it loses pretty much all of its matte / antireflective coating. This is also the reason it was scuffed up so much on the 5 min test.
    I did the same with one of my paperlikes and yeah, the same thing happened.
    However, I now use a brand called BERSEM Papernano. They're 9.99 on amazon for 2.

      I tried pen tips, paperlike and now I have one from ESR (the magnetic one that just snaps on to the edges of the screen). Paperlike and pen tips are crap compared to the one from ESR. Pen tips are a bit of an improvement but not much precision, paperlike is also better than plain glass, but every stroke is a scratch. Within a month it will look like it went through war. • @CanIHasThisName
    @CanIHasThisName 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Got mine today and I'm disappointed. I don't feel my writing experience is better. Even though there's a bit of a rough texture to it while making lines, this texture isn't consistent across all parts of the screen (maybe just an issue with mine?). The texture doesn't slow the pencil down enough to really make a significant difference while writing. It's only notable when making long lines (drawing), but for writing I think it would need to be rougher. To make things worse, I actually dislike how it feels when touching the screen with my fingers.
    Installation wasn't great. The cleaning accessories are pathetic, smaller than the stuff you get with cheap screen protectors from Ali. The part which you're supposed to stick on first has very low adhesion, so when you try to remove the rest of the protective bit, it's really easy to pull away the whole thing and get a bunch of dust under it. And yes, that's exactly what happened to me.
    The image degradation is huge. Not only are colors significantly worse, viewing angles are worse as well, to a point where just shifting my head slightly changes the perceived colors on the screen. It's noticeable even while just taking notes on a white background. There's this very grainy pattern across the whole screen, looks like miniature water drops. And although there aren't any straight up reflections, light sources at angles add this hue which ends up affecting a large section of the screen and makes readability much worse. Overall, even if this technically reduces glare, it ads so many negative properties to the screen that the glossy finish ends up performing better overall.
