As one of my iPads main purposes is as a notepad, I made a shortcut (‘event note’) which lives on every homescreen. When I select it it brings up a multiple-choice selection of my day’s calendar events and I can specify the event that I’m taking notes in. Then it creates a note titled with a yyyy-mm-dd datestamp and the events name, then opens it for me to use. Makes my notes infinitely easier to locate afterwards, as I’m never good at remembering to index them during/after meetings etc and my handwriting is awful for searching!
Thanks for the key remapping tip! I recently got an iPad upgrading from an android tablet, so I have a Bluetooth keyboard with android keys that didn’t work on the iPad, so I couldn’t use keyboard shortcuts, but now I can again, thanks so much! Hey, also I love the puppy!!
What I forgot to add is it works without a pencil if you have Stage Manager off, but if it’s on you need the Apple Pencil. It’s very confusing and another reason Apple needs to pick a lane for multitasking.
Just starting to use my ipad and as a senior slow to learn, I learnt many new tricks to use, I wrote them down now I have to practice using them. Good video
You're probably -the ONLY- TH-camr I have seen that outright says "I can't draw, so here's how I use the Apple Pencil." EVERY OTHER TH-camR - who ALSO does NOT draw/paint - likes to rave about how it has 'improved my work flow when working on paintings and projects' as they scribble a stickman on the screen because that's what's expected of influencers nowadays - they all paint, make music and are social media personalities. It's really refreshing to see an honest, down to Earth review coming from someone who's not trying to pretend they are who they aren't - thank you for this!
Great overview of the iPad. I have owned an iPad for years and did not know many of these features. Thanks for taking the time to put this video together.
My tip: activate the assistive touch in settings, it’s a good alternative if you don’t have a keyboard because it gives you quick access to commands You could even customize it for hot keys For example i set it as tap for basic commands, double tap to screenshot and hold for spotlight
Damn bro you nailed it! Shoutout to Paperlike for supporting this channel! I got my pad a few hours ago and learned so much from you, thanks for the tricks
Phenomenal Vid! I converted to Samsung's ecosystem for phone and tablet years ago, and my wife recently got an Ipad Air 5. This vid will be what I use to walk her through some of these features. Thanks!
Your videos are great, I always learn something new in each one of them and the production quality is superb. I love the document scan feature, basically replaced my dedicated document scanner at home with it. My biggest drawback is I wish it OCR’d the files when it did the scan. Maybe in a. Future update? For now I have an app on my Mac that will let me batch OCR from the finder, thats the best way around this I have found. Not sure if you have a better option in your experience. Thanks for the great content!
I always love these iPad tips and tricks videos they are always so helpful and useful and a great way to learn how to use your iPad if you are a new user great job Chris 😊
Hi Chris - just found your channel. I’m interested in how you setup your IPad with the main screen shown in this shows thumbnail. Do you have a video on how that is made?
Thanks a lot! I really felt you when u said: 'i can't draw' :D i really hope you'll get more subs and/ or attention, since i think the Quality of your videos is insanely good!
Hi Chris, Love the page, very helpful & informative. Can you do some updated what’s on my iPad / my favourite apps / best widgets etc for the iPad Pro? Thanks.
Thanks for this super helpful video! I still have a question about connecting to another monitor. Can I simply connect the iPad Air M2 to a monitor via USB-C and will the screen then be expanded or just mirrored? My ASUS monitor has a USB-C in, but nothing comes through there. However, I would only test an adapter if the monitor is expanded and not just mirrored. Thanks again and best regards!
Can you please tell me what are the widgets you have in your iPad home screen they look really nice. I want something like that. If you can please tell me the widgets you’re using for that video.
Super overwhelming trying to learn all this on my new iPad Pro 11” 2022 4th gen. Uggghhhh My only prior iPad experience was the iPad 2 over 7 years ago, when it became obsolete after 5 years of daily use. *No external keyboard. Yet.
I enjoy these sorts of things, as I just got an m2 iPad Pro, and am using it in my daily work, paired with my m1 Mac mini, and find it so useful to pull up things on both, let alone using it as a standalone tablet. My only struggle, is the little bit of blooming, which I knew might be an issue, when debating on which size to get of the iPad Pro. It’s mostly notable on TH-cam videos, as that’s what I’ve dove into the most so far
The display on the 12.9 is leaps around bounds above the other iPads. I only notice the blooming when it’s a video with a black background with white text. When working on the iPad in my day to day I never notice it. But what I do notice is how crisp the display it.
Hi I’m a sportsperson and started using the iPad for the first time. Indeed your video is really helpful to me. I’m not sure whether it’s a sound question but just need a guidance "Do you know any good software (iPad safe) which I can use to keep the training records of my students? " Thanks in advance and thanks again for such educational video.
Good luck finding one. iPad is great for casual use. if you have to do professional work, most likely a MacBook will be able to do what you need. For instance, many times I have wanted to use my iPad Pro to do business related things but can’t because it is a mobile OS and not a computer OS.
You were on macrumors recently right? That’s what got me to sub here. I’m trying to use my iPad Pro as a full computer since I already have a dock and Bluetooth input devices. Stage Manager on an external display is….heavily flawed oof.
Funny. Just yesterday I watched some of your older videos because I was craving the content. And today there is a new video 😁 Your videos are simply the best for the iPad, no other channel is on that level. I spent all February in Malaysia and only brought my iPad Pro 11" with the Magic Keyboard instead of the MacBook Air and I really enjoyed the form factor while traveling. I didn't miss a thing. Really shows how far the iPads have come in terms of laptop replacement capability. Greetings from Germany 👋
I started using craft after watching your old videos. Using it since more than 2 months and loved it ❤ It syncs so well with apple ecosystem. I stopped using obsidian, logseq etc etc as . Working on CRAFT is so fast and the backlinks is so useful. Thanks so much Chris 🙏 . I learned a lot from your helpful youtube videos 🙏
If Apple does end up “picking a lane” with multitasking, I pray they elect to go with the stage manager and abandon split view. (Although I honestly think having both is fine.)
That keyboard bar is so important cuz it has some important features to use in pages that they didnt add in pages' tools. Like adding a new page or starting a new section. Tho section features doesnt work on ipad pages like adding different bg colors or different page numbers.
I would be wary of the "connect to server" feature. The background service handling SMB has been known to die and when it does, it takes apps that have Files integration with it. Spent months with PDF Expert support figuring out the culprit of why it sometimes got into a state where it would freeze and crash.
Spotlight is the main reason I don’t use focus modes. What’s the point of meticulously crafting focus mode, if I can launch any app at any time via spotlight.
For me it’s mainly to have different homescreens based on focus, blocking some or all notifications, blocking some or all contacts, trigger shortcuts and home automations and changing wallpapers.
To make the text highlightable is really soooooo great for me as i always need to take text form pictures and non- highlightable files Thank you alot ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Weird, I have the latest iPad Pro and I don’t have the volume rocker change in my settings…the rocker change in landscape still messes me up and I’d love to change it
That setting is only on some iPads. I honestly can’t figure out why and couldn’t find a list of what iPads it’s on. I know for sure it is on the M1 and M2 iPad Pro, not sure what others though.
Well...I'm still on BEAR...always considered the move to Craft after watching your videos...but after doing some easy tests....still not convinced...too much stuff, ..., ... The simplicity, design and the minimalistic feel of BEAR is kind of untouched....focus is very great and....it has a Webclipper! Craft has no Webclipper I had to figure out....Sure, BEAR is lacking a few features...but, when I compare the pros of BEAR with the features I am missing vs. the other apps like Craft, Obsidian...hmmmm....still not convinced to move. I would rather go to Ulysses I guess...similar look and feel like BEAR, having also table support and other missing features on BEAR but also providing this minimalistic design.... BEAR 2 or Panda as it is called in the beta, will bring all the missing features somewhen...when they finally decide to release it....
What’s your favorite tip for using the iPad?

@@davehemprich-bennett9336 I would love to know how you set that up. In the days I find myself in back to back meetings, that would be so helpful.
Being able to highlight a text again is a crazy good one for me as i always need to take texts from pictures and non highlightable files
Shout out from Clovis!! Lol
i believe you don't need apple pencil to take screen shot by swiping from the bottom left corner, it work s fine with the finger.
What I forgot to add is it works without a pencil if you have Stage Manager off, but if it’s on you need the Apple Pencil. It’s very confusing and another reason Apple needs to pick a lane for multitasking.
Yeah, you’re right, i think stage manager needs re-configuration to be compatible with the already here of multitasking in iPadOS and MacOS
-this is cool!
If split view could work on multiple monitors, and you could have the grouped apps of stage manager, it’d be the best.
I was hoping you would talk about what apps on on your Home Screen because they don’t look like normal Apple widgets
For the calendar, he is using Fantastical Calendar.
This is the REAL getting started video to learn your new iPad. Great summary of so many of your other videos. Thanks for your detailed iPad info

I like the Wallpaper and Layout you have on your iPad
Unbelievably thorough. I’m sending this video to all my girlies that are struggling with their iPads, thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for the display space tip. Never knew it existed lol.
This was a huge w, even as a 4 year iPad only user, found multiple useful tips, ty
Whoa! Chris, big thanks. Did I ever learn a lot. Best video I've seen on using the iPad.
Wow that was a lot of great information! I'm going to have to watch it multiple times to absorb all that in. Thank you! Great Work!

Another informative video. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you 🙏🏻 now I work even faster
Great video, also see you playing the new fall out boy album, I’m obsessed
Love the video, thanks. Is it worth getting the I pencil just for taking notes? Is it comfortable?

youre amazing, please have a tutorial on how to use a microsoft word with an ipad..thank you
I feel like I've seen this video multiple times on your channel before. I appreciate the info though.
I try and update it when there has been major changes the OS. I haven’t made a general tips and tricks video since iPadOS 14.
Great stuff man!
I have my ipad for more than 2 years (and a magic keyboard) and I had no idea about this insane amount of keyboard shortcuts
Thank you very very much really worth it.
great video, do you have a video when you show how to put all your nice widgets thanks

Yes I was, and thank you for subscribing! You’re totally right, Stage Manager has some major flaws. It’s why I usually leave it off.
The best video ever
Big fan here !
Why do I feel like I already l know all of this thanks to you ? It almost feels like a reupload ??
Thanks Chris, awesome video as always, btw what font are you using in Obsidian? Thanks again!
I second that question
Love the tips

SOOOOOOOO HYPED!!!
If Apple does end up “picking a lane” with multitasking, I pray they elect to go with the stage manager and abandon split view. (Although I honestly think having both is fine.)
I think both are good in different ways. We need both with stage manager just needing more available windows
Love you videos! Super informative.
Thank you so much!
Insanely helpful. Thank you.

What brand is the iPad stand/bracket? 😊

How does he have that minimal keyboard? Is it an app or an option on the iPad?

Hi can u tell me how can we do alt tab between 2 same apps to and fro as we can do on windows laptops on iPad using keyboard ? Thank you !
Thanks!
To make the text highlightable is really soooooo great for me as i always need to take text form pictures and non- highlightable files

For the Apple Pencil being able to wake the iPad for quick notes the "tap to wake" feature has to be enabled I've found.
It should be on by default.

What's the calculator app you use for iPad?
Where can i get your wallpaper? 😮
Hi, Can we keep dock visible when we open the app in ipad?
KILLER, OMG!
How can i add tab, shift, esc keys in keyboard ?
What widgets you have on your home screen
I’m not receiving messages from android to iPad pro m1
Yeah. I was really looking forward to stage manager but was very disappointed with it. Don’t even use it with my MacBook.
Are these for iPad OS 16 only?
Does this tricks work on the iPad 9th Gen?

I’m in the bear 2 beta and it’s really interesting. I don’t know if I would switch over, but I am defiantly playing with it.
Do you use any screen protectors on your iPad?
What calculator app are you using? The one with the 42 on.

@@ChrisLawley thank you
I need the plastic and glass feel.
Can you send your wallpaper ,please ?
