The 3 hour finale aired last Monday and with it we saw the dramatic conclusion to Katie's fight with Greg, her relationship with Justin and ultimate engagement to Blake Moynes. I thought it was strange that the audience saw the proposal/engagement before Katie’s sit-down with Greg. I think it would have made more sense for the audience to get some closure over the whole Greg breakup before we saw the engagement. By ordering it the way they did, I felt like the show ended on a weird note, so they had to throw in the whole boom box/dace bit at the end to make the ending more positive. Just a weird production choice in my opinion.

It was going to be Greg, Blake, and Michael in the end all along. And she was going to pick Blake or Michael. Although her feelings for Greg were the strongest in the beginning, he lowered her interest over time while it was going up for Blake and Michael. Then Michael self-eliminated, and Greg broke up with her first. And no way did she not know she wasn't into Justin until the fantasy date with Blake.
After the Justin face montage, I am now 100% certain that Bachelor producers/editors watch your content.
He did it so much better than Bachelor editors though

both Katie and Gregg have a fear of abandonment. A lot of the time we fall in love with people who share our insecurities. I think that when Gregg left (after promising that he wouldn't btw!!), it struck a deep emotional scar that Katie's carrying regardless. THAT'S why she's reacting the way she is!
I mean they both have some kind of abandonment issues of some kind after losing their dads. I think Greg’s is a lot worse though based on his actions

No, Katie reacted to Gregg the way that she did because he threw a complete diva-tantrum based solely for the reason that she didn't respond the way that he wanted. Greg was emotionally abusive to her in his wacko tantrum, and she was 100% correct to call him out on it.
Yep. I never saw what Katie saw in Gregg. I eventually realized she picked him because he fit the mold of her baggage. Which is why her anger on ATFR seems over-the-top- she's not just angry about Gregg. It's anger at every time she's felt this way in the past.
I think Katie just likes to be in control, and Greg threw her a curve ball. As he stated, "You may be the Bachelorette, but there are other people here."
That whole Blake is stressed out about doing the engagement was so fake and forced upon him it was annoying. Do the producers not know that we know what they know?
Weirdly a lot of people take what they see on this show at face value. It’s worrisome actually. Just read the comment sections on the franchise’s various Instagram accounts. Big yikes most of the time.

@@LK-rt9cb Big maybe, but what if Michael’s family didn’t want to come due to them not feeling ready to meet a new potential wife. Then that made Michael question his relationship with Katie, that on top of his son feeling bad made him decide to go home.
When Greg was telling Katie that he loves her he talked a lot about himself and how she has helped him. But when Blake said it he talked about her and what is great about her and why she is important to him and when he knew. Not saying how Greg said it was wrong, just that Katie might have felt more love from Blake so she felt saying it back.
I noticed Greg really has a hard time putting himself in her shoes. Both with the expression of love and breakup it was all about him and how he felt.

If Michael doesn't do it, I vote Justin for bachelor! I'd watch him again just to see his facial expressions. He also seems like a really mature, intelligent, compassionate guy.

Can you imagen if Blake had left and Katie would've confided in Greg that she thought about leaving because of it? The difference between the levels of maturity between both men tells me everything. I didn't like Blake or Greg at the beginning and both grew on me, but these last two episodes makes me really think that Blake is a way better fit for Katie than Greg ever was.

I don’t think that is necessarily a sign of maturity. I think Greg thinks more deeply about things and is maybe anxious. It’s likely easier for Blake to push those feelings away
Justin definitely an amazing man ,no drama very respectful even though he is hurting still care enough about Katie to say hope Blake doesn't take her for granted.

after the final rose was filmed a month or so ago, definitely at least before the episode where greg leaves was aired. So she didn't see anything on twitter about the breakup.

IMO it’s kinda boring when there’s a clear frontrunner and the others have nothing going on. Nothing wrong with having a frontrunner, but when there’s basically nothing about the others (in this case, Justin) it’s super predictable and I lose interest.
@@randomchickrobin I think the season was mostly a matter of greg, Blake, Michael, and kinda Andrew. So when Andrew was eliminated, and Michael and Greg both left, I think the producers wanted us to ship Katie and Blake real hard… they wanted us to root for them. So if Justin had an equally good edit as blake, we would’ve been all “Katie is settling” or “she wanted greg”. So by making Justin seem low priority, it made us root for Blake & believe in the happy ending

After meeting Aunt Lindsey Blake would have been an idiot to not second guess an engagement. She is the type of person that confuses being mean with strength.
The women on this show are always allowed to be angry and bitchy with the men, while the men are expected to be sweet and polite in every situation with the women.
I used to watch this series yearrrs ago. Totally wrote it off thinking it would provide zero entertainment to me. Then your channel came into my life. Now I watch this series again, but only through your presentations of it, and I have been avoiding all spoilers. Thank you for giving this show a whole new production - for all of us who really don’t have time for this crap!!!

Katie for sure practiced that little speech to Greg in the shower about a million times
We also just have to remember this is the first time Katie and Greg have talked to each other in months. During the fight he had time to say his peace but Katie didn’t know what to say. So of course after sitting with it for a while and talking to people and processing the situation the second she got her chance to speak her mind and have closure she took it. You can be happy and still hate your ex. Especially if you didn’t have closure
🙌 and especially if you can watch back an actual video recording, where you can confirm or update your recollection of what was said, in what tone, with what body language.
And before all the Greg stans jump on me:
- Yes, Katie’s reaction/response to his declaration of love was weak; she could have at least kissed him, for crying out loud
- Her “he used me for acting practice” accusation didn’t really hold water and sounded unnecessarily vindictive
However:
- Greg interpreted her response in a certain way (100% negative,) and was never able to see it in any other light
- Greg cut her off multiple times; I believe he was going in circles in his own head more than he was actually listening to what she was saying or noticing her sincerity
- AFR was her first opportunity to talk to him uninterrupted*
- Although at AFR he said he wasn’t expecting Katie to pull a Clare based on his declaration, earlier he said he basically wanted her to stop the show and choose him immediately...which sounds an awful lot like wanting her to pull a Clare 🤷♀️
* (though it’s possible this did happen, during some of the huge amount of footage we never got to see)
I wish Greg all the best. Truly. I hope he gets some excellent therapy to help him move through his grief. Then I hope he finds love in a more natural setting, and gets to practice his new skills of being vulnerable and communicating openly.
Check out the Psychology in Seattle YT channel for detailed analysis by an experienced therapist. He comes into it not having seen anything before the fight, and (I think) absolutely nails what’s going on with each of them all along the way. He is very sympathetic to Greg throughout, and points out what each person might have done differently.

Ugh, wish they could have done the Gregg section first and gotten it over with. Then there would have been more time to rebound from that horrible interaction. They just don’t communicate well.
It was hard to get back on the happy wagon for Blake and Katie after all that!
But in the end Blake and Katie choose eachother, and that’s what a marriage is about, choosing eachother no matter what comes your way!
I totally agree. Producers ruined the love story vibes with yet more air time with NJ redacted. I was looking at Instagram last night during the live and it was so sweet seeing Katie and Blake's messages to each other (yesterday was his birthday) and also clips from his mom's watch party. She even posted a photo of herself next to aunt Lindsey on the screen with a caption that said "Thanksgiving is going to be interesting".
I really hope that the media scrutiny doesn't tear them apart. I think going to Canada for a bit initially is a great move because they can spend some quiet time together and really strengthen their bond. I wouldn't be surprised if they have a quick engagement and small simple wedding. I'm soo rooting for them.
Well your not wrong here. They should’ve aired the Greg drama in the beginning and then air Justin and Blake’s date, however Katie got what she wanted which was her happy ending. Because that’s what matters at the end of the day.
It was quite irritating when Kaitlyne kept stating, "You don't want to miss," as if she hadn't mentioned it before. I was waiting for their conversation, and the manner she spoken to him was needless, like girl you need to chill off!

They had to keep viewers sucked in for 3 hours and clearly the Greg drama was what they were banking on. I think we all knew it ended with a proposal from Blake so they had to structure it that way although it definitely took away from the happy engagement... Thus the boombox segment to end it on a happy moment.
That's pretty cool how producers hid the engagement and that final scene so much. They usually tease that from the start. I always love happy endings:)
Katie can be both in love with Blake and very, very angry with Gregg. I don't understand why people are saying there's a conflict there. It's like moving on from an ex but remaining emotionally scarred by the breakup. It doesn't matter that they were never meant to be - Katie's response isn't out of lingering feelings or of a bruised ego, but simply because of the hurt she has every right to still feel (especially having just watched it all back).

Well not everyone heals the same from traumatic experiences with ex boyfriends so being bitter and not being bitter are both ok feelings. I am part of the people that think she’s still in love with Greg by the way she acted. I put myself in her shoes and I 100% would not waste my time trying to explain to my ex where he went wrong because at that point she should have moved on as she is engaged to another man. The past is the past and if Greg wasn’t it, why waste energy trying to explain things to him.
@@keilynm.1401 I don't think that she was bitter at all. I believe both of them have a fear of abandonment and when he left, that was realized for her. He didn't have to be the one for that to be a traumatic experience for her to go through.
Even with the same person. I still carry hurt and sometimes anger at my father, but I also love him and we have good moments. These feelings exist in the same space.
I feel SO bad for Justin. I hope this doesn't discourage him from opening himself up to others and I really wish him the best
Like if anyone should be mad at Katie for leading someone on, not giving them validation, or just having them as a backup, it should be on behalf of Justin and not Greg. I'm more angry at her for her treatment of Justin than anything that happened with Greg.

Justin said he highly respected Katie and that their relationship has made him a better person. I don't think he would want you to be angry at Katie on his behalf

True, although I heard the AFR was filmed weeks ago. So it wasn’t last week’s gossip that she was sharing. However, it may have been other rumors and speculation as the season aired that she shared.
What can we expect. She obviously has a strong desire for attention. Why else would she bring a vibrater? She wanted the spotlight and that was her attention grabber. I use to like her but she lacked class last night.
I've heard she looks at the bachelor subreddit, and noticed a lot of the anti-Greg thoughts that crop up there being repeated. I'm curious how much they aligned with what she actually felt and how much she's experiencing confirmation bias looking back after reading those things. I get being mad at your ex but her thoughts sounded awfully familiar
Greg was also repeating pro-Greg opinions from the subreddit
I mean she was literally having an amazing time with him and then he switched up on her out of nowhere. He also left without a goodbye and without closure after everything. She has every right to speculate after that. Especially after months of having to sit on what happened with no communication with him, and it all building up to that moment between them. I’m sure we would all be pissed.
Katy being so angry with Greg is a clear indication of the depth of her feelings for him. Had he not left, he would have been her choice, not Blake.
But he left and exposed a side of him that wasn't so pretty. She dodged a bullet. Somethings are meant to happen and play out a certain way.
I think Greg was her first choice. He was more though into her than she was to him. I think he’s the one who dodged a bullet. She never told him ( from what we see ) that he was her one - you were going to be in the end. So it’s a wild toss between she and Greg

Overall I support Katie in all this, but I think her biggest sin here was spending too much time on Twitter before the ATFR. She starting parroting a lot of the stupid conspiracy theories that Twitter has been spewing the past few weeks, and it was not a good look for her. Everything else she said was on point though, I think.
ATFR was filmed weeks before the Greg episode aired -- before anyone even knew about them breaking up at all.

For me, it makes me believe she believed those things on her own and felt so genuinely hurt that she was gonna say whatever regardless of how it would have been perceived -- back then, there was FAR more public opinion supporting Greg.
As stupid as these theories look to us -- Greg accused her of being fake, so there must have been some kind of feeling of like "you say I'm fake and playing a part?! You're extra fake.. I have proof!" It must have been weird to find out he graduated from a 2 year program in a very prestigious acting school after the fact, and that he had the tools to fuck with her if he wanted, regardless of if he actually did.
I wish she would have had the self awareness to know she would look silly though and like be more reserved and measured in her criticism and complaints regardless of how she felt. She ultimately hurt herself more unfortunately; she kind of did him a huge favor cause now, in public opinion, he is totally excused for anything he did wrong...

She would be an absolute angel in the eyes of the public right now if she had played nice in the ATFR. It's pissing me off that people seem to have forgotton the bs Greg put her through, all cause Katie got a little angry. Although I will admit, watching her yell at him was a little cathartic for me lol.
@@lasagna312 She'll be dealing with this for years probably; it's a darn shame cause I totally agree with almost everything she said on paper. I even think the acting concerns had some validity; I could see her perspective on that. I feel like she had an excellent rough draft of an argument and needed to like restructure, finesse the wording, and work on tone and delivery. Oh well -- maybe she will learn from this that she needs to learn how to argue better and be more aware of her audience.
Ultimately, Katie ended up with the right man for her. Blake is a great guy and I love how supportive and caring he is. They have the passion, but they also have the companionship to make their relationship last. I hate TPTB for putting Katie and Greg's hot seat right after the proposal. Katie and Blake's love story deserved better.
I agree that they should have put the Greg and Katie’s hot seat in the beginning of the episode and then focus on Blake and Justin after that. However Katie did get her happy ending with Blake and that’s what matters.
Agree. I was so angry they gave so much air time to NJ redacted and especially airing it after the happy ending instead of at the top of the show. They should have slammed that drama shut and moved on.
Did you catch that Blake asked her how she was as soon as he sat down at ATFR? I think Katie leaned on Blake a lot after the season wrapped and they must have spoken at length about the ugliness that went down during the season so that they were prepared for what might air. Production really did her dirty most of the season. We had what 5 villains (Cody, Karl, Thomas, Hunter, and NJ redacted)? That is 1 every other episode and some overlapped into multiple episodes.
If I get the inkling that they're doing this to Michelle, I may just skip her season and just watch Fantake instead.

@@bkopgamer ugh….Aaron and I wasn’t a fan of James either. I think James would have been better on Jersey Shore or Real Housewives. I liked Tre, but it seems he got a little influenced by the other guys trying to fit in. And all 3 are at Paradise. And Thomas and Connor. Basically MOST of Katie’s men are on the beach.

I think Katie can be in love and happy and still feel hurt and angry from what happened with Greg. I don’t really think either of them were in the right, Katie could’ve reacted differently when Greg was telling her he loved her but at the same time Greg could’ve also reacted differently the day after and actually have tried to listen to her. I think he definitely loved her but he put up so so many walls that he painted this narrative in his head that he carried along to the after the final rose (notice how he was repeating stuff he said when they broke up). I can totally understand why Katie would want to let him have it at the after the final rose, I know if I got my heart broken and have been spoken down to and I had one last chance to voice that I would use it. The difference is that this was on national television 🤷🏼♀️
It still bothers me that people say they were both wrong. Katie made one mistake and tried to fix it, Greg had a 2 day meltdown and bailed. She didn’t win the high ground after tearing Greg a new one, but she earned the right to be angry, plus he said he had no regrets when there’s plenty to be regretful for.
I agree that both made their mistakes but I was surprised how she seemed to shift all the blame on Greg when in the end I don’t think either of them should have been villanized, it was a simple misunderstanding.

"I just love to look at your face" Like what?... wheres the emotional connection there? Just completely stabbed him in the heart with that response, he just shut down mentally after that.
Thanks for the great recap. I’m disappointed Greg did come out of the gate saying he regretted how he handled the breakup. Instead he said I don’t regret anything. Katie fell down Greg’s trap of not sticking to how he treated her but instead criticizing his reasoning.
They clearly are not meant for each other.
Greg’s whole thing is a classic example of not being skilled at communicating the things that bother him. That’s super relatable for me.

What kinds of skills do you need. He is a college educated grown man. Not a small boy who doesn’t know how to have a conversation. It’s not a work place, it’s staying true to how you feel and saying it. Which he did. His actions though are the problem. And I also think that Greg doesn’t right now understand/grasp his own emotions first before he can convey them. His emotions are complex and he experiences things differently due to the passing of his father. Like others have said, fear of rejection and abandonment def played a role however, he has to obviously see that to some extent, he wasn’t going about it the right way. Katie is not perfect either and that’s why helping each other is important. Ultimately, he quickly abandoned her before she could abandon him bc to him, that was much comfortable than having to deal with another possible rejection- especially since his emotions and feelings were high for her.

When she didn't seem excited by his affirmation, not even so much as a kiss. She kinds turns her head, sheepishly smiling and says, "I just love looking at you", THAT was the moment he knew. If I had just told someone I loved them and that was their reaction, I would had been just as upset as he was. At that time, he wasn't looking for her to say I love too, but was looking for her reaction to it. She was always steamingly kissing him up till then. Then nothing. All he would get from her was just hang in there, you know how I feel about you right?, we are so close to the end and I promise it will be worth it... all while inching closer and closer to the door. He was trying to get some kind of loving reaction from her but couldn't. Then he went to her room hoping it was a big misunderstanding to try to fix it. However, Katie just went on about how he was number 1 and how he was going to be there next week, and how sorry she was that something went wrong. But she never got it. He told her she wasn't the same Katie that night after he poured his heart out to her and she wasn't. She went on the say that she wasn't going to tell anyone she loved them until the end, however, that wasn't what he was looking for. At least not until they got outside. He sat down on the bench and when she caught up to him, he tried to hear her out, but she just kept saying the same things. Yes, she was begging him to stay, but for him, it was like, "for what reason"? Because she loved him and wanted him or for the sake of the show? I think he had a gut feeling all along but was trying to bury it. But her reaction that night and then again the day in her room confirmed for him. He had been played. But yet he gaslighted her. She had such strong feelings of love for Greg, however, she got over them fast enough to tell Blake she loved him a few days later, and in a few days more, an engagement. I think he was right.
I've heard that they made Katie watch the argument with Greg backstage right before she came to confront greg. This refreshed the anger towards greg and she acted like she did

Im glad Katie and Blake are together but i do find it weird that she had been telling Greg the whole time that he’s her number one and the front runner and how its going be the two of them in the end. To the point that she broke rules by telling his mom “basically, he’s here to stay”. Then when he wanted to leave she kept reminding him that she had previously told him that if he left she would quit and that if he’s gone the whole thing would have been for nothing (meaning she only wanted to leave with greg) … but then Greg walked out and she turned around told blake shes in love with him and only wants him and they got engaged.. thats very strange to me

@Cynthia yeah I kinda got deja Vu vibes from Desiree's season where pretty much the exact same thing happened (Desiree was head over heels for Brooks and he was the one she wanted, but he self-eliminated because he didn't feel the same way for her. A few days later, she is engaged to and in love with Chris) Maybe it's some weird phenomenon with this show, developing strong feelings for multiple people simultaneously.
Blake doesn't need to work now. That's why he's spent two seasons on the show. He'll make his money on social media.

If you look at his IG it’s all animals. He’s been an animal environmentalist for years, working in animal rehab programs. He WANTS to work because he loves it.
Nothing makes an audience want to root and be happy for the final couple like wasting three hours hyping up the Katie Confronts Greg bitchfest as if that's the real draw. What garbage. In the end, Blake is the best fit for Katie; I think that's always been apparent. I think it's also apparent that Greg is correct -- there is a disconnect. There's nuance to the whole situation, but in the end, Katie only ended up making herself look bad on the ATFR. And, quite frankly, I think it only helped make Greg's point -- she's *very* aware of the fandom and her role as the bachelorette.
Also, I'd like to say that actors are also human beings. This season long insinuation that Greg is this untrustworthy guy that is neither capable nor deserving of finding and falling in love because he went to acting school is garbage.

She’s not totally right or valid to have acted out like that. She gaslighted him throughout that entire conversation and belittled him in front of everyone. Instead of acting out like a child she should have acted like a mature woman walked out there and had an adult conversation with him. By what they showed in the show Greg never played her. Although I will say I do not support how he spoke to her in his last conversation with her on when he left. There’s a difference though, she talks about Greg being her number 1 and how he’s going to stay blah blah blah. Yet when he pours out his feelings to her she doesn’t even acknowledge them because she made herself a promise of not saying I love you until the last rose. The next day then goes on to seem super distraught about him leaving as if she was going to choose him, but then goes onto the next day and goes on a date with Blake and tells him “I love you”. She was always going to choose Blake not Greg and that was super obvious. So if anyone put on an act it was Katie. There were 3 men but I truly believe that she already knew who she loved, I don’t think by that point she wouldn’t have. When she didn’t acknowledge Greg it was obvious that she didn’t love him because if she did she would have done anything to not let him go. Greg himself didn’t handle the situation well at all but we can’t pretend that Katie was right for what she did either.

She didn't have to say I love you to him but at least acknowledge what he said with some kind words. She obviously liked him a lot. Tell him he's special or amazing. Don't just say nothing.
I think it’s a reach to accuse him of playing a role. That’s really speculating and I don’t think it was an act personally. I think people deal with things the way they deal with them and he seems like a super sensitive guy & he definitely came off sincere last night. She has a really mean side! There's nothing wrong with settling. Settling means taking the better deal....and she did. People need to stop seeing settling as loosing. In love as in business... you don't hold all the cards. Blake wasn't her first choice. He could never be since he got in later. She took the one who didn't eliminate himself out of pure immaturity and she is going to build a marriage with a hot af guy whom she had chemistry with... and a guy that can take the heat without leaving the kitchen. What a sweet settling!

We all settled at one point at our lives and thank god we did. A lot of the times because of the cards that the other person hold... a settlement was made. The problem with the season was majority of it had to do with here for the right reasons conversation with at least two to three guys who were involved in drama including Aaron, Tre and James( episode 5 and 6). I was okay with Greg until the episode of hometowns where he mouthed off against Katie. However the only good parts of the season that I really liked was when she got engaged with Blake due to his humility, Justin’s facial expressions carried the whole show and Andrew S and his charm.
For sure, but to play devils advocate, the contestants on this year have been very tame compared to past seasons IMO.
I’m missing the “happy couple after the show” recaps we used to get. I don’t think we got one with Tayshia and Zac either.

Greg became upset because Katie didn't respond how we would have responded to "I love you"...Thats what their fight was all about. The fight was about how she responded. She tried explaining why she responded that way. He wasn't listening because he was so hurt about how he responded. None of this was about the passing of her dad. Thats one of the reasons he is being accused of gaslighting.

@@fefe5908 it's kind of when you make someone think they're going crazy. Like in the movie that the word is based on the husband is messing with the gas lights and tells his wife the lights aren't changing even though they obviously are.
A modern example would be saying something in a fight and when your partner brings it up going "your crazy I never said that" even though they did.
Now people use it like "if you disagree with me you're gaslighting me" because those people are usually wildly self absorbed.

Gaslighting is not something you can just diagnose since it is not on the DSM-4 or 5, so there is no stablished definition. A therapist, Dr. Solomon, explained it on Nick Viall's podcast. She said that "some of the phrases and dynamic (of Greg towards Katie) could be considered as a gaslighting behavior". Is he a gaslighter? No, but his behavior in that moment was gaslighting. It can be a one off behavior that is not exclusive to emotionally abusive relationships and that it can instead happen during an argument of a normal (but unhealthy) relationship.
