    If you would have loosened just one of those front frame brackets from the front of the transmission the rear-end would have practically fell out of the back of the frame onto the lift by itself. It also aids in the installation process too!
    I enjoy watching all of your videos, your not afraid to tackle anything on any model tractor. This 149 TLB has turned out really well! GREAT JOB!

    It's not just your instruction, it's the obvious passion you have for saving old tractors that make your videoes enjoyable! I'm also a happy owner of a 149. It will be a while before I get it together , working again, but I'm enjoying the "journey"! I admire your skills, but respectfully...use a puller on the steering wheel next time. I've read accounts of damaging the aluminum parts of the Ross steering column. I'll allways admire what you're doing. It's encouraging to see that history being preserved👍😀

    Norman,I was just watching Ep 3 of transforming the Cub Cadet, and chuckling as you were struggling pulling the trans. Anyone who has ever worked on anything at all can feel your pain Bud! I just found you yesterday, but I will be using you as a source when I redo our John Deere 314!

    hello again, you would make a very good teacher, your explanations are very clear, a question about how you are going to reassemble this tractor without any pieces left, in any case you're quite good, I'm looking at all your videos.

    I learned the hard way if you level the frame and use a lift table the rear end will slide out.

    right @15:30 things get dangerous for fingers. I cant tell you how many times I have really hurt a finger doing this sort of thing. It is always important to be very patient when moving large pieces of steel.

    should have put a tow strap in the front to have something to pull against, maybe?

    did you ever put an electric PTO on this Cub Cadet 149. My understanding is that the OEM Kohler engines did not have the necessary threaded tap holes in the block to mount an electric clutch PTO.

    • @Isavetractors
      @Isavetractors  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did not. I have my pump running full time off the pto. Threaded holes can be added with a milling machine or with a drill press

    What would you recommend for a small garden tractor to put a case D100 backhoe attachment on

    • @Isavetractors
      @Isavetractors  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      An IH Cub Cadet Wideframe would be a good choice! But an of the popular old garden tractors will suffice such as Wheel Horse, IH Cub Cadet, Ford, Case/Ingersoll, John Deere, etc.

    hahha thanks for this video. tho its 5 years old. ive learned what i got to do to rip rear out. goin to move the 149 rear to a 127 frame. so i can have the hydro lift. why not just use the 149 if someone comes across this. will all the stuff i have snowblower mowers plow are for a NF not a WF. almost thought about cuttin a 106 frame and weld it to the 149 frame.why u ask 106 frame if u already have a 127 frame. will i have a 106 frame to. hate to ruin the 127 frame.. seems might be easier. not sure yet tho. gives a break point.

    When reinstalling the transaxle and hooking back up any hydraulic lines do you have to purge air out of the system? I have to change a leaking line out and can’t seem to find this information anywhere. Thanks.

    • @Isavetractors
      @Isavetractors  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The air will purge on it's own. Just cycle the lift cylinder.

    does it have to be cub cadet? and if so what year does the body style change, looks like I should stay in the 1970 years ?
    Thanks, Great vids

      You can build a FEL and Backhoe onto any old Garden Tractor. Some tractors lend themselves better than others. The wide Frame begins at the Cub Cadet 129, and continue from there until you hit super cub cadets. The Mid 70's is the gold era of old Garden Tractors IMO.

    • @Coralrockplumbing

      I found a 1210 cub 120 hydro with a tall handle on the side looks like 70s

    • @Isavetractors
      @Isavetractors  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 1210 is from the 80's You will have an Aluminum rear end on yours. It's still a great tractor platform to build a backhoe and/or loader from.
