Sooner or later I may add the armrest like you did. In any event, this vehicle was conceived, designed, and manufactured to be inexpensive. And it does that well. A five speed is a natural for a small economy car like that. It reminds me of the little Japanese cars that were so common when I first started driving in the late 1970s. They were awesome! I haven't had a manual car in many years, but I might look for one of these. Its reminding me more and more of 1979 the way things are going lately! @Sean McGivney In 2018 I paid $7500 total for a base DE CVT 2014 Mirage in kiwi green that had 43k miles on it. I drove it for 2 weeks and I weight about 150 pounds. This car is great as long as I did not have any passengers. 0-60 was about 12 seconds. Cruising at 75 was not a problem as long as I was the only occupant in the vehicle. Going up an incline requires some momentum before ascending. The noise level was high but this expected because the engine produces less than 100 HP. I could never figure out the temperature control feature. The forward looking visibility was great. A real basic car that is ideal for a solo occupant along with some groceries in the back.
Hello, thank you for your review! I have a 2020 Mirage, and I love it too! I would like to upgrade the front seat though, since I find mine not very comfortable because I can feel the springs :) I feel intimidated because I don't know how to go about doing it myself. It would be really nice to have a video that shows how to choose the right seats for my car model and also how to remove and replace them with "better" ones. Thank you!😊
I think there are airbags in those seats, and I am sure there are airbag sensors in the seats so swapping them out may be limited to other Mitsubishi seats. Maybe from an outlander?
@@FarpointFarms thank you for the answer! Mine don't have side airbags but the dealer did mention that it is best to look at other Mitsubishi models like the ASX or Outlander if I want to swap them.
I dive a new 2022 Mitsubishi Mirage. I bought in 2017 a four door sedan . So this is my second Mirage. Living in Clearwater Beach Florida it's just a fantastic car to own. Thank you.
You mentioned that changing gears in the city is troublesome. I would agree. I have a Spark with a CVT. Half of my daily commute is done at an average speed of a little less than 30 mph. It would make me nuts to constantly be going 1, 2, 3, neutral, 1, 2, 3, neutral.
I have a 2013 model and is still going strong. Just replaced brake pads, tires, busted light bulbs, wipers, nothing else. still runs smooth at 100,000 km+ now. If you take care of it, it will take care of you :)
I had two, sold due to circumstances....with CVT automatic I got around 48 mpg mixed driving....never did a trip with either. I thought both rode well and were quiet at speed....hills did seem to cause both to lose momentum. very roomy up front and pretty good in back and the hatch and the sedan both had good trunk space with the seat up. I would buy either again.....sadly you can't get the stick with anything other than the base model.....and the manual also needs a taller drive ratio or another gear to get the rpm to 2000 rpm at 60 vs 3000 rpm at 60 as the CVT does.
Hyundai and Kia also have the 10 year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty. I like the Mirage and have been thinking about buying one for about 3 years now, but I'm not optimistic that Mitsubishi will still be around in the US in the future to honor their warranty. In 2012 I almost bought a new Suzuki, but just before I did I woke up one morning and found that Suzuki had suddenly stopped selling cars in the US. Isuzu went out the same way in 2008. It's hard for smaller manufacturers selling low priced cars with small profit margins to stay in business in North America.
Love subcompact hatchbacks, a dying breed in America. Chevrolet is going to kill the Spark leaving Mitsubishi as the last car maker in the US selling a true subcompact.
You're much better off with the steel wheels than you are with the factory mag rims, if you crack a hubcap you just go get another set from Walmart, if you damage a wheel then you've got to buy a whole new factory mag wheel... Interesting color you chose. Hope it's still going strong for you. Nice review
Thanks for this, Jen! I had a 2020 Chevy Spark, but unfortunately he was totaled. I got about 40-45 mpg in that thing with a 1.4L 4-cyl. I loved driving that tiny car but they discontinued it, so I was looking at this since I prefer hatchbacks. My only concern is the power, my Spark had a hard time getting up to hwy speeds 👀
Sorry to hear about your Spark! I have no issues with this thing. We drove in from NC to GA last month. Got 46 on the trip, and held 75 with no issues. I say go for it!
Totally agree with stick shift in traffic. I’ve had a few manual transmission cars. Out in the country, mountain roads, and open highway manual transmission is fantastic. In stop and go traffic it is a PITA. Don’t live near mountain roads, majority of my driving is in city, and my wife has physical disability that makes it impossible for her to drive a manual so all my vehicles are auto transmission for her. This Mirage is a 4 wheel version of a scooter; plenty of storage, great fuel economy, great for in town, ok for highway, and low purchase price new.
I watched the presentation of the Mitsubishi Mirage with interest, I am surprised that here in the Netherlands I drive a Mitsubishi Space Star 1.2 that looks almost the same, was the car released with different type names?
I appreciate your video. I love the color of the car. I live in Vermont. Lots of hills here. Looking for a good budget car that can maneuver and gets great gas mileage. I just sold my Chevy spark. Loved the car 2017. I notice there is more room in your car. So, would love to hear from you. Love that car.
Thank you for the informative video. I have not been able to locate the rear bumper protector anywhere. Only the stainless steel version direct from Mitsubishi. Would you mind sharing where that black plastic protector was purchased? Thank you.

@@FarpointFarms For what it's worth... I can totally vouch for the manual transmission Nissan Versa (2020 MY or up since those are designed way nicer than older ones). I have a 2021 in a manual and it drives very nicely for an econ box. Crisp shifts on the shifter too!

I would love to buy this car in manual configuration but i live in a big city (Toronto) and the idea of being stuck in traffic with a manual is not appealing.
I have a 2021 and it's perfect for what my wife and I need it for. Just a small tip, I work for Mitsubishi and I've seen a few Mirages (2014-2015) developing rust in the rear quarter. I'd advise getting your car rust proofed, or you can always get a cheap paint brush and apply some oil under the rear wheel wells. It wont cost you a dime extra if you change your own oil. Some folks have had this fixed under warranty, but if you can prevent it you're better off.
The rear bumper protector was not for this year model but it works well enough for us. The one that would fit it that we could find was chrome and smaller. I am very happy with this one.
We did undercoat it when we got it, we live in an area that loves to use salt for every occasion and I did not want to risk it getting rusty. Thanks for the information on it
@@FarpointFarms Ok cool! Yea I saw that chrome one too that said Mitsubishi Motors on it for the 2021 model year and it was expensive and didn’t fold down over the lip edge of the rear bumper to protect it enuf. I like yours better. I was wondering if this one was the one for like the previous 2014-2015 model years. Looks nice!
@@FarpointFarms Oh cool, thats a smart move. Especially with all that dang winter salt. I can tell she really likes the little Mirage thats so cool. I love mine and have always loved Mirages, they are great cars. I almost got this same color in a top trim Mirage SE but the only reason I got the Red was because it had the $995.00 exterior package with the color keyed-red-carbon fiber ground effects. The Sand Yellow color I love and is my fav, but I do love my Infrared with all the red striping along the ground effects kit and red on the grill looks sporty.
Totally agree the automatic climate control is stupid. The three knob design was brilliant and adopted by almost all the car manufacturers years back. Very intuitive and logical. Back 50 years ago I remember my HS friend, when learning to drive, said "The hardest thing about driving is learning to work the heater." He had a point since every car's heater controls were different. Why can't the designers leave some things alone? Two cars I have owned recently have the auto climate and I hate them both. Additionally they are unsafe since you spend more time with your eyes off the road finding the right button whereas you can easily feel the three knobs and know exactly where you are.
automatic climate control has been standard on all, three knobs were on certain years or versions since 2014 in the US. Not sure which has which, but it is true.
Are the seat covers capable of letting side airbags to deploy properly? Excellent 10k Cars. I almost bought one before deciding on a low mileage 5 yr old Scion XB manual.
Can this car with manual transmission get heated seat function, button to lock/unlock the doors and turn indicator light signal on the mirror AND Apple Carplay/Android Auto? I hope it does ☹️ cuz I want the extra belts and whistles with stick shift.
That's so weird. The Mitsubishi website has a built and price feature and it said only the manual transmission is available on the base model; not the SE or higher trim that has the same belts and whistle as yours. What's going on? ☹️
@@edgaryzen4925 Some of the items like the heated seats were dealer installed options instead of factory made that way. It's a way around those silly trim levels that rule out the 5-speed.
Set the temp to 68f and call it a day. You press up or down a few times and the AC will automatically adjust to your comfort. Just like AC inside a house. A lot of people have no clue how to use auto climate control.
I have known many people ( mostly women) who blast the heater on high, only to turn if off moments later. Then go though the same cycle over and over. Maddening!
Please please drop a link for the arm rest center console! just got my 2022 yesterday and didn’t realize it didn’t have one. i just had a 2017 nissan versa note sv.
My wife had a Yellow car when we met, but we couldn't keep up with the payments so we had to trade it for something cheaper. I've always wanted to give her the car she wanted, and finally got to with this one!
@@FarpointFarms I own a 2017 mirage with 92k kms and still love it. Would be nice if I had fog lights which is why I am asking. No issues with mine yet, just had front brakes done so should be good for another 80k kms.... the only problem I had with mine when I first got it, was the tires were over 10 years old.... no one knows how this could have happened. Dealership made good on changing tires out after one blew (how I originally found out). I paid for prorata usage and they covered the rest.
I have one (full options) from 2015 from new with CVT. Now more than 60.000 miles. Nothing went wrong with it. The only thing replaced recently is the generator belt. But even that was not strictly necessary. It was slipping at cold starts. For the rest, just fluids, tyres and wipers. I must say that the fluid going into the CVT is a bit pricey. But that is only every 55.000 miles or so.

I dive a new 2022 Mitsubishi Mirage. I bought in 2017 a four door sedan . So this is my second Mirage. Living in Clearwater Beach Florida it's just a fantastic car to own. Thank you.
Thanks for sharing!
You get used to it- If there are bad traffic days- you learn to go on alternate routes. I will would not get rid of it
Excellent review. I like the color and the hub caps. I also like that it is a manual. Keep it up!
thank you for the review! really appreciate it.
Love your honest review always drive safely simple car but reliable
I have a 2013 model and is still going strong. Just replaced brake pads, tires, busted light bulbs, wipers, nothing else. still runs smooth at 100,000 km+ now. If you take care of it, it will take care of you :)
Glad to hear it! They are a solid little car for sure.
They'll probably be around, since Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi have an alliance. If Nissan hangs around, Mitsubishi most likely will too.
Love subcompact hatchbacks, a dying breed in America. Chevrolet is going to kill the Spark leaving Mitsubishi as the last car maker in the US selling a true subcompact.
I hadn't heard about the spark, but you are right, these are rare breeds right now. Love my little car!
I don't think Chevys that crazy to kill the Spark but who knows. They're going to kill the Camaro soon.
Nice job Jenn! Great review! Thanks, Heath
Thanks for watching!
I have a 2023 Mirage G4 and I absolutely love my car. Where did you get all the Mitsubishi branded accessories?
An online Mitsubishi dealer.
Good job mam for not getting caught into the hype and using your brain to buy what you need.
Awesome review. Those seat covers are 🔥, I’m gonna get a set for my mirage g4. Thanks for making this video.
Glad I could help
You're much better off with the steel wheels than you are with the factory mag rims, if you crack a hubcap you just go get another set from Walmart, if you damage a wheel then you've got to buy a whole new factory mag wheel... Interesting color you chose. Hope it's still going strong for you. Nice review
My wife loves yellow cars. I like the Infra red one myself. Agreed on the hubcaps. I got a nice set from eBay and they look nice.
@@FarpointFarms Okay, Thank you! I just called the Mitsubishi dealer near me, they are selling like hotcakes! I better go get one fast!
PITA is nicely putting it, you get used to it, it is great on the back mountain roads for sure and the price was very reasonable
The manual transmission option is being discontinued for 2023 model year, per MM press release on 08/31/22. SAD :(
what a shame, shifting is a lost art
Nice update and glad you're happy with the car. I love those mileage numbers. Right on
Thanks 👍
I watched the presentation of the Mitsubishi Mirage with interest, I am surprised that here in the Netherlands I drive a Mitsubishi Space Star 1.2 that looks almost the same, was the car released with different type names?
Yes, both cars are the same. No idea why they used two names though.
Thanks@@FarpointFarms
Women look at things and drive differently then men. Bless you and have fun. PS safety sense on Toyota (2017 version) does not stop for deers.
Very beautiful car.
It sure is! She has 27,000 miles on it now and still looks great.
Great video! I have one myself & love it!
We still love ours!
Thank you.
The rear bumper protector is from a different year model 2019 I think - I did not care for the chrome version. I am not sure what site I got it from
Thank you.@@FarpointFarms
It is not only the perfect car. It is the best car in the world.
I agree 100%
I too, agree. Everyday I cruise home in my Mirage, ac on getting 50 MPG plus, I love it more and more!
Thank you for this review, Ma'am.
God bless.
I love your CAR! I got 2017 and the car is a joy. So I can relate. Great video by the way!!
Thank you, these cars are so under rated on the review sites. I love mine
May I make a question please.. Why don’t you do a year review how it’s holding up and what you like and dislike?? Just a thought I currently own a 23 SE and you are correct Inflation is out of control.. I really enjoy watching your videos
I might have to do that- My biggest complaint is the tiny gas tank! I know that it gets great MPG, but 8.5 gallons-- I will probable post it on my other channel-
@@FarpointFarms I agree specifically when you go on long runs with the car it would be nice to have more range.. I hope to see more videos on your cars see how they are holding up
At what RPM's do you shift? Just drove a new manual Mirage, was shifting at 5,500 rpm. Never drove a car that high RPM.
RIP to the manual transmission model going forward for 2023 MY and up. Did you have a plan on what your next vehicle might be if you had to upgrade?
I honestly think I'll be going back to a used Yaris or Echo. These are great cars, but there is nothing really like them out there if they stop making them all together.
@@FarpointFarms For what it's worth... I can totally vouch for the manual transmission Nissan Versa (2020 MY or up since those are designed way nicer than older ones). I have a 2021 in a manual and it drives very nicely for an econ box. Crisp shifts on the shifter too!
I like all of the accessories you have. Great review. Mitsubishi is definitely on my radar.
Thanks, they are great little cars, with gas getting more expensive I don't feel bad driving it all over.
@@FarpointFarms What do you think about the 2022 Outlander? I'm considering one of those when I graduate college.
Good on gas vs Honda fit ? I'm debating b/w the two. My best friend has 2015 Honda Fit and loves loves her car.
This get's better milage than the Fit, and I am not ashamed to say that either car will serve you well!
hi, would you mind sharing where you purchased the sill plates and also the wheel covers?
I got them from an online dealerships parts site. They are all OEM.
Hi there, first of all Just want to say your car looks so nice and well done all your effort you put to your car!😊 I wonder if you can share where you buy the trunk guard, and silver plates on door step sides? They look really neat and i hope to get one for my mirage too thank you in advance🙏🏽
One of the sites I order from is mitsubishidirectparts.com, pricing is fair. I had to order the parts for a model year older than mine because at the time, nothing was available that i liked
Thank you so much 😊
52 mpg is pretty much what my Suzuki DR650 motorcycle gets... so if you're actually achieving that with this little car then that is truly amazing. I should have bought one of these when they were still offering them with a stick transmission.
It really gets that milage on the highway. 46 in town. Love this thing!
@@FarpointFarms Alright, I can't get a stick version anymore so you'll have to give me yours... Be over in 10 minutes. Thanks so much. I'm gonna love this thing.
I drive mine like it's a sports car sometimes always doing 40mph in it.love your seat covers. I love my G4..
The seat covers are really nice
You will and are very happy with this car , Im going to buy brand new nex week.
Did you buy one??? I'm going tomorrow to buy one...This gas thing has me nervous.
@@1533ramsay Yes I bought it in November new Mirage 2022 , really good on gas , and the warranty 10 years or 160.000 km .
@@1533ramsay Im getting one ASAP!😎
Great video! Good job. Quick question. Does the rear seats fold down?
Yes, they do.
I just bought a 2021 Mirage hatchback Carbonite edition. I love it too!
Good choice! This is such a fun little car, we are dreading the winter when we have to park her. They use so much rock salt here on the roads that we don't want to chance it. The roads turn white- but not with snow
Got to get this my next car after seeing this video I ended up in a 2017 Hyundai Accent which is good but originally wanted a Mirage but kept getting payment figures that made it impossible to get it. It’s to me way more personality than the others
It certainly has a look all it's own. I love it!
Nice video. Gotta get what you can afford in dealing with purchasing a car.
We love this car, I did not want to go broke buying a new car
Where did you get your seat covers? Do you have a link? I would like to get them for mine.
off amazon-www.amazon.com/INCH-EMPIRE-Waterproof-Leatherette-Universal/dp/B07PF87S4C?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1&psc=1
They were pricey but are holding up great so far.
My husband and I got a 2019 and love it we have the same hubcaps Amazon how do you guys get your hub caps not to chip I'm on my 2nd set the paint flakes off
ours flake as well, the price was low enough that I am not too upset about it
where did you get your centre console from? i'd love to get one!
I got it off ebay or amazon- Just search for them- it was not too expensive
ECO mode with cruise control bumps the MPG way up. I found this out in my 2018 Eclipse Cross
It’s only two highest end models that get cruise control the way it looks
I would love to buy this car in manual configuration but i live in a big city (Toronto) and the idea of being stuck in traffic with a manual is not appealing.
That is what pushed me to go with the CVT on our 2018 Mirage. Jenn wanted the stick though!
Good review just bought mines yesterday one question were did you purchase the rear bumper rubber protector
where did you get the center console from? Please let me know. :)
Great review glad you're happy
Still happy with the car- when the gas prices went sky high, we were not stressed out by the cost to fill up
@FarPoint I want the rear bumper guard that Jen has on hers. Where did she get it? I want to install it on the G4 myself. Hopefully the job is easy :)
Where did you buy the seat cover from? Link please!
www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01D0YIZ4A/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1
Do your seat covers block your side airbag?
Where are the side airbags? On the pillar or the edge of the seat? Need to be unobstructed.
They are in the pillar I do believe
Love the car! I love my 2021 Mirage. Where did you get the rear bumper protector that fits the 2021 Mirage like that???
@FarPoint I really like that center console versus the OEM’s. Could you share the link? Or Where did you get the center console? I want to buy one
I tried to find it but the link does not work anymore.
Do you feel clostrophobic driving the car opposed to the sedan?
Not at all. It's got more room than my old Toyota Echo, and more room than a Geo Metro, and more room than My very old VW Rabbit.
I have the Mirage and I do NOT feel that at all.
Are the seat covers capable of letting side airbags to deploy properly? Excellent 10k Cars. I almost bought one before deciding on a low mileage 5 yr old Scion XB manual.
Yes they are- most seat covers have that option now. Just look at the specs of it to make sure
Where did you get this? Out the door prices are pushing 18k in my area
We bought it before all the inflation BS, I am glad that we did if we were looking now we could not afford it
I hear ya!
Is the trunk space really that small? I need to put stroller in there and I cannot tell
As long as it's a folding type, It should fit, but that would about fill it up.
They say 43 mpg max. How did you get 52 or better? Great job!!
Nice little car !
what speed were you going on the highway when the automatic emergency brakes engaged? the collision avoidance system turns off at 80km/h
Solid review!
Glad you liked it!
Your lucky.. I have plan to get one.. But there no manual transmission option with our dealership 🙄🤷🏻♂️
Cute little Commuters Car!
They are great cars
I didn’t know that Mitsubishi still marketed cars.
My favorite Mitsubishi was a 2600 4x4 truck back in the 80s.
they still make cars, they are not as big as they once were
Can this car with manual transmission get heated seat function, button to lock/unlock the doors and turn indicator light signal on the mirror AND Apple Carplay/Android Auto? I hope it does ☹️ cuz I want the extra belts and whistles with stick shift.
It can get all of that except the turn signal indicators in the mirrors. Ours has carplay, heated seats, and power locks/windows.
@@FarpointFarms aw man. That mean I can't get nor asked for dealer installed heater seats :(.
Maddening!
Where did you get the step plates from
I love them
Those are a factory option. You can get them on eBay or Elsewhere, and they were not a lot of $$ at all. Plus, they fit perfect!
Please please drop a link for the arm rest center console! just got my 2022 yesterday and didn’t realize it didn’t have one. i just had a 2017 nissan versa note sv.
i also sit pretty forward so hoping it reaches for me
Costco carries those care seat covers. They were around $20 each. I put them on my Jeep Wrangler. They look nice...
That is good to know, you paid less at Costco that what I did.
A simple yet a very efficient and reliable mitsubishi mirage 🏁🇵🇭
Love that color
My wife had a Yellow car when we met, but we couldn't keep up with the payments so we had to trade it for something cheaper. I've always wanted to give her the car she wanted, and finally got to with this one!
@@FarpointFarms That's awesome! my fiancée her favorite color aside from pink is yellow. Not sure if she drive a yellow car though
Where did you get the fog lights? How much were they?
ebay I think, they were about $100+, I only do oem parts on this car since it is so new. I don;t want to void the warranty
Jennifer, just waiting to get my fog lights from ebay. Thanks for the info.
They are great cars, just basic maintenance and they are good.
Currently drive a k1500 blazer with 16mpg maybe on a good day . Im saving funds to get me something like this
You will be blown away by the milage on these!
Excellent review and I LOVE the Mirage! Not to put it down, so please don't misunderstand, but did you ever consider the Chevy Spark at all before purchasing the Mirage ? Happy trails! Peace...✌♐
Yes, we looked at the Spark and the Versa. Both had reliability issues that made us go with the Mirage.
@@FarpointFarms One last question and I promise not to bug you any further 😁...Another road test reviewer of the '21 BASE Mirage hatch stated in his review that the standard audio system in the Mitsu was da pits (I paraphrase...his description was worse). Do you find that to be true? I definitely would order the optional $300 (I believe) subwoofer kit to amplify the bass giving the system a bottom boost and richer sound. Whatcha think? Looking forward! Thanks! ✌🙏♐
@@AladdinSaneNYC supposedly the RF sound system has warranted solid upgrade for owners. I have not seen one regret nor remorse from them. I say if the factory sound system is adequate then no need for it? Heck one paid journalist recommended RF sounds system upgrade was worth it partly to minimize road noise interference which could make s difference for long drive IMO.
RF rules and will be my future upgrade.
Last question: First of all thanks for responding to my original question...I appreciate it! Question time: I guess one can adjust the degree of bass that one may want with the RF system...correct? Again, thanks...Peace...✌🙏♐
