Seeing Kate Bush being discovered by a younger generation because of Stranger Things was beautiful this year. Kate is a genuine musical genius, unlike anyone else. Her musical achievement is so rich, varied, original, and emotionally deep
Having said that, this rendition has, apart from text and main melody, nothing in common with the original. And that's a good thing. You shouldn't just "cover" Kate Bush songs, because it's so hard to make them better. Instead PMJ turned it into something quite different, as per usual. And very enjoyable I must say! Wonderful singer too!
You know that feeling Douglas Adams describes where you get this longing directly proportional from how far you are from home? And since Ford was on Earth and his home was Betelguese, it was a stronger feeling than anyone on Earth could understand? That kind of describes how I feel having been a fan of Kate Bush for almost 30 years. And RUTH was the first Kate Bush song I ever heard. And all these people are just discovering her for the first time. Even people that I've tried to get to listen to her over the years who didn't get her are finally listening. It's overwhelming. The song has been changed forever. Kate Bush has been changed forever. It's making me a bit seasick, frankly. But so, so thrilled. And this is a great cover. They kept the spirit of the original while making it their own, which are the hallmarks of any great cover.
One of the things I love about Postmodern Jukebox is that they really get in to the songs they perform. They are obviously excellent musicians and I get the impression they knock out a lot of recordings; I don't know how quickly. But at any rate you can see they are enjoying themselves, as we the listeners are.
Saw them live yesterday and can confirm they are every bit as much into it live. It's great. If you ever get the chance find a spot close to the stage and you'll pick up some banter and stuff. It's all very much the real deal. They really have this much fun playing :D
I love western style version of this song the beat sounds pretty amazing and the lady's voice and dance moves are just incredible, truly a talented group right here

It’s actually not that difficult, it just means you can only use half the notes the sax has. But if you already know going in that the solo won’t need any of those notes, playing one handed is super easy
the most impressive part for me was her waiting that long to slip the guitar pick into her pocket. she danced with that thing between her fingers until the sax showed up!
As a former Blues/Jazz singer & Classical Pianist who is age 50... This is one of the best arrangements & performances of a cover that I have ever seen in my life. If not the absolute best ever! Thank You So Very Very much!
I've listened to this probably about 20 times since i heard it a week ago. One of the best covers PMJ has ever done. Best performance by Megg ever. The call and answer arrangement is incredibly well done. 1:10 to 1:40 is flawless
🇫🇷 Bravo pour cette reprise qui ne manque pas d’originalité 👍 Ce n’est vraiment pas évident de reprendre une chanson de Kate Bush et de faire passer des émotions autres que les siennes mais vous y êtes arrivés. Bravo 👏👏👏
Out of ten, I give this performance an Eleven! Sweet Meg has a sweet voice and she could stop running up that hill and steal all the moments she wants!
I love this interpretation💯 As for Kate, I was an old teenager, 1978, December sometime, Saturday night live, she did two songs - "the man with the child in his eyes" and "them heavy people"... I remember it like it was yesterday. Because she captured my heart at that moment and I've been a loyal and giant fan ever since. There are VERY few famous musicians who have managed to attain and retain the career elegance that she has. She's literally one of a kind 🥰
This has to be the best arrangement of Kate's song out there. If there's a Grammy for such things, it should be sitting on your shelf, Scott. The choice of ensemble is perfect, and Sweet Megg's voice and phrasing is perfect as well. I absolutely love this. Well done!
This ensemble of musicians is incredible, so glad to have found them. Sweet Megg is appropriately named, her voice, style, and performance are amazing!!
You are so very talented Scott Bradlee. I really enjoy the way's you've arranged and produced the various pieces you've done. Keep on groovin' mate, and, keep 'em comin'.
Having the time of my life listening to this while I'm sick for New Year's. The channeling on this is so neat. Especially when the Sax guy moves across
I thought I'd heard my fill of that song this year....how wrong was I!!! Outstanding arrangement, awesome vocals and a cheeky wee sax man popping in there...loved every minute 👍
I love how you pick a tone & go with it & emulate the vibe so well we are taken away to another place & time sometimes! Epic job on your final cover of the year 💜🎶✨
I listen to this song since I was 10 years old. at the time it was in a BASF stick, today it is m4A. And now this new version that turned out excellent.
Just the best cover ever. Cant stop listening. Rhythm section, Thor's twang, Megg's voice and then the sax, stunning arrangement, beautifully executed.
Did anyone ever notice, the pianist, never ever used a paper sheet in his observable life? 9 years if not longer, he plays on feeling.
Yeah, Scott Bradlee is a mesmerising talent....
Imagine movie sound tracks with his talent. He can obviously communicate well as he gets the best singers and musiciy
He's the composer of the whole thing, he's worried about listening for timing from his performers and keeping pace.
He would know the thing by heart.
Some people can ONLY play like that de to neurological limitations.
He is a musician ;)

Pretty sure the band did not wait for that poor show to "discover" Kate Bush...
Just a " jump on the bandwagon" opportunity.

Ok but can we have a round of applause for the saxophone? That was sexy!
