Three times kate has been in the Top 10 in the Uk with this single - when released in the 1980s, after the London Olympics 2012 and now - thank you generation x for the hat trick
About time honestly. There’s probably so much great music my generation (2000’s babies) have no idea exists yet and so re-discovering artists like this is, ironically refreshing. Well, for me anyways.
I'm still surprised not a lot of people knew this song before, I personally never listened to it but my cousin did, his dad used to play it all the time, but for like the past year or 2 he hasn't, idk why I thought this song was way more popular
@@evalewis3310 apparently neither do you mate XD, they said, 'theres some images' instead of any description of what the images were. very helpful im sure.

Some songs are imbued with magical powers, and this is definitely one of them. It's blend of longing, strength and propulsive energy casts its spell very single time.
I have to admit, this was probably my favourite part of the closing ceremony. The crowd went mental, pity it doesn't show all the clips that were being shown on the big screens on the stadium roof.
No matter how many times I hear that song, I'm still enthralled by it. The lyrics, Kate Bush's voice, the rhythm, the drums. Running Up That Hill is just a great song.
This was the best Olympics I ever saw! Danny Boyle did a fantastic job arranging everything, all the music was phenomenal and the games themselves were memorable.
One thing i only noticed after watching this about a dozen times....when the gun goes off, that's when the inserted images change from black and white to colour. A nice touch. (And at least the commentators didn't say "and a gun goes off" hahaha)
Kate isn’t in the video because she no longer performs on stage. The song was used as part of the ceremony and because shes one of Englands best creatives and artists

So glad these commentators were talking over the intro - it adds so much to get their insight. I think four people talking next time, with one person talking only about the weather.
How? This became popular again after the olympics, then after 10 years it became popular again. That means it did get forgotten fir a while, who knows if/when it will be featured in something again
Brings back so many lovely memories. I remember (somewhat back in the day haha) waking up to this tune one morning, as I was on a train from Copenhagen to Stockholm.
Absolutely brilliant event. Kate Bush truly is a remarkable artist, and these games were such a fitting place to perform this. Excellent closing ceremony, and one we shall remember for a very long time indeed.

This portion of the closing ceremonies was not televised in the States, so it's great to see it here. The pyramid thing is weird but the song is very effective -- I especially like the new vocal. Wish Kate had been there, though.
Really now, is that running commentary necessary? Television people must think audiences are so stupid that they need everything explained to them. Once I'd like to watch these ceremonies without all the accompanying blather.
Note the Closing Ceremony does have commentary on the DVD, but it's different commentary, aimed at the British audience (unlike this Olympic Channel version which was aimed at an international audience who might not be well aware of British artists like Kate). Thus it tends to be less intrusive, and the overall sound quality is better.
***** That's interesting. Being a cheapskate I bought the DVDs, which only let me turn off commentary for the Opening Ceremony, not the Closing. Does the Blu-Ray set have a no-commentary option for the Closing as well?
