FYI, I have the base model, or close to it, so my buttons are different on a 2018 Civic, I have an old school key. I had to hold the trip reset for 10 seconds until the oil life percent flashed, then held again for 10 seconds until the oil life reset.
Thank you for such a thorough video on this. Everyone else was advising to hold the trip button to reset it. Very frustrating after replacing a radiator, hoses, plugs, wires, distributor cap, and theromstat on my daughters car, changing the oil on my Toyota, and then changing the oil on the wires car lol!
Thanks for this. I just did the oil change on my 2018 Civic LX Coupe and I gotta reset the oil light now so I’m gonna do this when I go back out to the car.
😁 YAY! It took me quite some time of holding that enter button down but eventually, actually JUST as I clicked this open to type to you that it didn't work, the reset thing came up! YIPPEE! I only have 2,516 miles on my 2019 Honda Civic EX-L so I know full well it doesn't need maintenance. Obviously I don't drive very much. I traded my 1994 Honda Accord EX in for this in 2020 (I always buy last year's model) and it only has 72,000 miles on it. I really should have sold it outright but was unable to figure out how to efficiently drive two cars home at once so the dealer got a real puff at my expense. That was really a great car except for the fact that I had to jump start it and puff the tires up almost EVERY SINGLE time I got into it almost since the day I bought it. The alloys were defective and Honda knew it but they never recalled the car 😑. The battery electrical connections were defective on that year and model as well AS was the fuse that turns the car off. I used to have to manually go under the hood and pull It in order to turn the car off. ANYWAY, those were the ONLY problems that I ever had with the car so I want to say that Honda's rock but I'm afraid to because I'll jinx myself 😒
Mine says that too can someone explain why it says 15% does that really actually mean it's at 15% or what does it mean I just got my service done like 2 months ago
@@NorthernVikingExplorerif I may be a bother, do you find that oil dilation is a problem with your car? This is more my girlfriend's car and it's the first oil change ice done to it. It's a 2017 with only 14000k on it. It had one done at 7k but I like to be on top of it especially during the break in period.
@@NorthernVikingExplorer thanks, we are spending a lot of money on this car we really need it to go the distance. We live in Canada I hope the cold weather doesn't make it an issue. Thanks for getting back to me I subbed it channel.
Thanks man! Quick question - when we do this, is the computer simply hard-coding the reading back to 100% regardless of how much oil is in the tank, or is it actually measuring the oil? For example, if i don't put add any oil, but do a reset, is it simply going to say 100% again? If so, does that mean the only way to really tell if it needs more oil is by the km on the car?
It doesn't have anything to do with the quantity of oil, it has to do with when the oil changes needed again. And yes it resets it to 100% and starts the countdown again.
Hi I couldn’t figure how to do this and now I can! Quick question though, I’m doing this now after like a month of getting my oil change. Will that affect reminding me when I need it changed? Thank you so much!
I have never loved a more easier tutorial. 😭
Glad I could help you out 👍
