I just had to take a minute with my head in my hands, laughing through my anger. It makes complete sense, but I've always had, ya know, a NORMAL DOOR or a button. I usually don’t comment on TH-cam but THANK YOU for this, I could cry I’m so happy. I just spent an hour at the gas station trying to find a way to open my stuck gas door and your video wouldn’t load and all the things on the Honda website (saying to shut off the auto lock feature) wouldn’t work. I got home and your video finally loaded and I ran out to my car and BAM…. Broken down moving boxes were stuck on the green wire which is why it wouldn’t open. You just saved me $200 (what they said it would cost to look at it) or even more. I’m seriously so relieved… thank you😭

Omg you lifesaver, you handsome man! Thank you! For hatchbacks(mine is 2019): there is a compartment on the driver side in the trunk area (this compartment holds the jack). Open this compartment with a twisty tab and look for this same looped wire towards the top of the inside of the compartment above the jack. Pull it! TADA! That should pull the gas lock down!

Had this happen yesterday on my 2016 Honda Civic, drove over to Honda and they opened it, said it if happened again to "touch the yellow wire", well it did by the time I got back to fill up again, could not open the flap. Opened trunk touched the "green wire" nothing happened. Will have to try that this morning in daylight, sure hope it works. Thanks so much for actually showing how it works.
