I’m a woman who is learning to do things on my own (Honda dealership was charging me $55 to change the air filter) so I decided to order 2 air filters for less than $20, this video has been super helpful!!! THANK YOU!! 🙌🏼 Next, I need to do my own oil change 💪🏽💪🏽
IKR? Just got my first car ever and I've always wanted to learn how to do these things. So this is my chance! I'm glad we are able to learn these things! *Women Power!!*
Right! I needed a engine and carbon air filter. They wanted me to pay $60 for labor. How many seconds would it take you to replace? Not very many. DIYer!
Heck! This is easier than doing a load of laundry! I’m a woman who is taking care of a 2016 Honda solo and I’ve just gotten sick of being ripped off by the dealership for services. It’s very empowering to be able to do a lot of this maintenance work by myself for just the cost of the replacement piece! Thank you for helping us out!
Just left Honda dealership, was there for an oil change. Thank goodness I said no to paying them $70 to replace my engine air filter and $60 to replace my cabin air filter, I was so close to saying yes. So easy and cheap to replace on your own. Geez never again. THANK YOU for sharing this video,
omg I just saved $130 on service and parts at a mechanic!! Ended up getting both the cabin and engine filter for $40 at autozone and did this myself. Thank god I did some research
Thank you so much!! I feel like I was watching my dad teach me out to be an independent woman. I really appreciate you and your video! You just saved me $65 bucks but gave me a lifetime of knowledge. That's priceless!!
Thanks so much! I had to pay $200 at the dealership. I'm a senior citizen on a fixed income and had no problem following your videos on the air filer and cabin filter installations. Thanks again. I really appreciate your help!
Thank you! The dealer was about to charge me 125$ to do that… I might look like a clueless girl when it comes to car stuff, but I’m happy I came across you video before I said yes! Cost me 20$ and took me legit 2 minutes to do it myself! 🙂
Lmfaooo I just learned how to replace the battery on the key. That cost me $5 and Honda charges $45 😂😭. YT is gonna run these bums out of business with their premium prices
My dealer wants $150 to do interior and exterior. They literally inspected them, which meant they had to open up to boxes anyway, and could've just charged me for the parts, but wanted $110 just in labor to do a 5 minute job. Thank God I found these videos!
Thank you for both this video and the cabin filter video. I was just at the oil changers and they asked me if I wanted to replace my air filters. I said no, I can do it myself. But....when I opened my owner's manual, there is nothing about changing the filters in there! So glad you showed me how easy it is to do myself!
Holy sheets‼️ I have a 2017 and have always paid to replace both the cabin and engine filters, then this video. I checked my last invoice from the Honda dealer (October 2023), and I PAID $60 total for the two filters, $77 labor, and $7 tax = $144‼️‼️‼️ Never again, thank you for these videos👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾🙂
I will ask my son to buy filter and watch ur video , last week he went to get the oil change and Honda demand $ 128 to change the air filter. Thanks for posting and its so easy 🙂
Used STP SA12501...$11.99 at AutoZone. Only tough spot was lifting the air box cover...had to use a bit more force than I expected. Noticed that by lifting straight up on the front edge of the air box cover as you did in your video, that did the trick. After replacing air filter element...slid right back into tabs and snapped back in with no issues. Thanks!
Just took my 2019 Civic Sport in to get the fuel pump replaced (recall). They wanted 179$US for this and the cabin air filter. I declined for obvious reasons. Thanks for the videos, saved me time figuring out how to do it myself.
This is great help! I paid $350 for a 3 yrs maintenance plan to Oakland Honda Dealer so they supposed to replace both cabin and air filters on maintaining, but they didn't. Few days after I picked my car home they sent me a letter that "oh your both filters are poor, come visit us for a 2 hours replacements waiting and pay for the filers again which you have paid!" I was so pissed and decide to do this myself. Thank you for this helpful video.
Came for oil change and i just wasted $50 from dealer now for this air filter, i said yes to install him and then I watched TH-cam Lesson learned: never say yes when they come back to you with extra repairs, just make them do oil change and search youtube for any extra repairs they are asking for , you can simply tell them will come back again for additional repairs
I have a 2018 Civic and the air box didn't "lift right off" after unclipping snaps. I tried gently shimmying it and pulling it toward me, but it was still stuck. I finally got it open by exerting enough force that I was legitimately concerned I would break it. Thankfully it's still in once piece.
i just charged mine less than 5mins save me almost 70$ from doing it at the dealer..... i bought mine 7$ from ebay and put it in less than 5mins. completedd❤❤❤❤
Your videos have helped me so much. Thank you! I noticed my splash guard beneath the engine is missing as well as the cover with the clips on top under the hood, since I’ve never done anything on my own car before…hopefully those aren’t too big of a loss! 😅
They are important , get a new cheap one off eBay. I noticed a lot of sand when I popped my hood and decided that I need a new splash shield… the people at jiffy lube get rushed or lose bolts because they aren’t usually too skilled. So slowly but surely your splash shield gets undone or rips off. You don’t want water in certain spots under your hood, and ya don’t want dirt getting in your oil ma’am. Or anywhere really. They have some with little doors so your oil can be drained and oil filter can be replaced, so that means no more removing the complete splash shield to get to those areas. Go NOW!!! Before it costs you more down the road. Go Cara!! And don’t look back. Otherwise you’re gonna regret it and look back at this comment saying “I should have listened.” And then you’re always gonna be coming back to ask ME for advice.
Did you vacuum out the debris in the cabin filter housing? I am a single woman who has had her engine air filter changed twice in one year and refuses to pay another mechanic for the work. I also replaced the gas tanking locking feature recently and feel empowered to do the work I can.
Thurston Honda in Ukiah, CA wanted $150.00 to replace this and the cabin filter. Amazon delivered both filters to me for $26.00 total and it took less than 5 minutes of my time...their Dodge department charged me $135.00 to do an unauthorized battery check on a dead battery that I ended up replacing with a brand new Interstate truck battery for $139.00...yeah dealerships can be rip offs.
When you bring that to Honda Philippines Casa, that will be 3,500 Php, around 70USD. But when you buy from Lazada, you'll spend 350 PhP or around 7 USD only. PMS because of warranty sucks.
Hi thanks for bringing up the detailed video. yesterday i was checking the air filter on my honda civic ex 2017. By mistake i disconnect the wire on the hose very next to filter cover. I forgot to put back in. Today in the morning. When i started my car.The display showing me so many errors like cruise control problem, lane departure problem,Brake hold problem and more. Then i realize and open the hood found that wire disconnected. I reconnect it properly. But the display still showing me the issues. Please help me out if you met this problem before or any advice. Thanks
My last car was a BMW 328. Mechanics were charging $200. Honda wants much less but it's still an insane ripoff. The DIY mindset made possible with YT is life changing for things like this.
My 2018 Civic appears to be a little different. It has the air hose at the back like this one and the two clamps on front, but the back of the housing is clearly different because the housing still seems stuck at the back by more than just tabs like this one. It will not lift free no matter how I move it. I can see to triangular structures back there that seem to be the problem but they don't move even when pressed with a screwdriver. Any thoughts?

Dang… I just paid 160 for both filters
No more
@@Volumed94 that’s the last time they take advantage of you, brother.

I have not encountered this error before. If anyone else reading this message knows, please comment below.
Drive it for few blocks and if theres no problem let me know
Do you know if it's the same for civic hatchbacks?
If it is not the same it should be fairly similar.

@@NorthernVikingExplorer woke up this morning and did the swap super easy
Hi northern Viking
Hello 👋
How often are you suppose to change those?
I usually change mine every year or maybe 12000-15000 miles. I am not 100% sure what the manufacturer recommends.
Would this be the same with a 1.5L engine?
The process is similar but it will look different with that engine. Also I believe it is a different model of air filter for that engine.
My 2017 civic Ex is a 1.5L engine. Would this be the same process ?
Similar, but it will look different than this because of the different engine.
How to install prl cold air intake?
Was gonna do the same for my 2018 civic ext, did u find out how??
And the dealership charges $70 for labor on what I just watched? Give me a fu.....ng break.
Thanks!
Glad to Help!
I just got a emissions system problem code on my dash. It's a 2019 and I've got 15k on it and ever changed the air filter. Do you think this could fix the problem ?
how often is this one changed too?
I usually change mine every 10-15k Miles.
This is for the 2 liter, I was looking for 1.5.
Hey how do you know what number box i should get for my 2018 honda civic or does it not matter ???? Helppp
Your best bet is to punch your year and model number into Google to confirm the filter number.
My 2020. I unsnapped the two levers but the lid is connected to a hose looking thing. I couldn't remove the lid.
I saw another tutorial telling me to open up the glove compartment area.... whats the difference?!
I have a tutorial on both topics, one is the engine air filter and the other is the cabin air filter.
