Mashallah, what a video. So much wisdom and knowledge in less than 30 minutes. You have explained in the best way how the Muslims live/should live in Europa. We Bosniaks are thankful bcs we have such a great religion like islam and have preserved it through centuries even we have been killed, tortured and expelled for that. Its a miracle of Allah that even in 2022 the muslims are majority in Bosnia after all that they must go through. By the way, more than 45% of people living in Mostar are Muslims. The east part of the city is almost completely muslim.

  • @Aboleo80
    @Aboleo80 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

That church tower you commented on was built so high not too long ago to spite the Bosniaks because Croats don't want any minaret to be taller than that tower. Also, the cross on that hill is a recent addition to spite the Muslim Bosniaks but most Bosniaks don't care about the cross and don't let them bother it. We are smart enough to realize both religions are part of our culture and our ancestors were Christian and Pagan before being Muslim.

I personally have a love hate relationship with dervishs and sufism.
Form one side most great Muslim thinkers in my country were sufi and on the other side the reason Iran is in this situation today is because of sufism (calling upon the saints and blindly following the so called Devine authorities is just a few similarities between them which allowed safavids to convert Iran into shiaism).
I get really confused at times,
To define what it means to be a Persian Muslim I cannot ignore the past and start from the scratch at the same time I don't want to make the same mistakes my ancestors made so I don't really know how to approach building an identity.
Even though I can't imagine the struggles you must be going through as it must be really hard to be the first person who is doing something but I see a great opportunity here
You have the chance and freedom as the first of Slovak Muslims to define what it means to be a Slovak Muslim
Even though that is a huge task I think you are more than capable of handling it.
Our situation is so similar yet different at the same time and that's the beauty of Islam that it can bring brotherhood between people who are so different.
I would like to ask you to keep me in your duas and I will inshaAllah do the same.
May Allah (swt) help us all in achieving our goals.

Sufism as an science of soul type dimension of Islam has been tarnished with being linked to sects, factions and politics unfortunately, most people in west when they hear of Sufism they almost see it as Religion diff. from Islam cause it's been usually put in the candy basket of new age stuff, but among muslims of especially middle east descent, Sufism is seen as almost derogatory sect and big heresy on surface level. It's pretty sad cause sunnis of sufi focus produced some massive cultural achievements for muslims and also many wisdoms that are very applicable for today, one of them being "we are all mirrors of each other" (which alludes to psychological human tendency to project inner stuff to others around him/her) or that the no1 enemy is within (rational human intellect - satanic part that directs human to do selfish stuff).

Same here, persian convrted from shiism to sunnibislam, I regret how our ancestors delved into sufism which became the foundation for shia mass conversion, and minority good sunnis were massacred by shah ismael.
I too have steuggled for a long time with identity issues but alhamdulleAllah I define myself as muslim first and last.

Mostar's got really cool light "mediterranean" atmosphere as you named it despite not being even that close to Mediterranean coast, unfortunately during 90s war that city has seen some bad bombardment and solid amount of bad blood was created between otherwise very brotherly people that are now dividing the city up 50 / 50. The news in Bosnia lately covered Partisan graveyard being vandalized hardcore and blamed nationalists as per usual, which they are probably to blame too. Maybe another fun fact but Hercegovinians are seen as highlanders of dinaric karst lands and as good businessmen overall.
As for the Sufism, Sufism as an science of soul type dimension of Islam has been tarnished with being linked to sects, factions and politics unfortunately, most people in west when they hear of Sufism they almost see it as Religion diff. from Islam cause it's been usually put in the candy basket of new age stuff, but among muslims of especially middle east descent, Sufism is seen as almost derogatory sect and big heresy on surface level. It's pretty sad cause Sunnis(but also shias) of sufi focus produced some massive cultural achievements for muslims (Masnavi for e.g.) and also many wisdoms that are very applicable for today, one of them being "we are all mirrors of each other" (which alludes to psychological human tendency to project inner stuff to others around him/her) or that the no1 enemy is within (rational human intellect - satanic part that directs human to do selfish stuff).

@Crusader’s tears are delicious because when bosnia was kingdom the king wasnt a muslim. His religion was special kind of christianity called Bosnian Church, but without trinity based on dualism or something like that. Actually catholics are allways starting wars against the king because of his faith and when Ottomans arrived people welcomed them as liberators. So they were easy to convince to get into islam because there is no taxes for muslims and religion beliefs were similar. Bosnian muslims now keep the historical tradition of their "kinda christian" heritage and use those symbols

Why we Croats hate the Old Bridge...
The Ottoman empire had a system called the blood tax.Every 7-10 years the Ottoman soldiers would come to your village and take your children away.Draft in the millitary for boys and slavery for girls.Parents were nit allowed to follow them but mothers did.Usuallly to the bridge.Once your child crossed the brigde you would never see your child again. That's why we Croats hate that bridge. Our late writer Ivo Andric even got the Nobel Prize for litterature in 1965 for his book "Na Drini Ćuprija".Christians hate all Ottoman bridges in Bosnia and Herzegovina

You should have added that the traditional jumps from the bridge were based on tradition because mothers of abducted children threw themselves off the bridge to their death! You shouldn't have left out that part of that sick story that pops are poisoning you with!

If you only see Bosnia through the eyes of islam you dont understand Bosnia or its people. The beauty of the country is to look past such things and see humans. The people here culturally still practice the traditions of the old Bosnian church which is the earliest form of protestantism again which is to be free from oppression that includes religious oppression so dont come here acting like we are some type of religious government or some shit like that we want to be a modern liberal democracy which are vastly superior form of government, civilized, equal and more stable.
