Solo Camping Safety

Hello Everyone and Welcome!
In this video, Lucy and I go out to enjoy a nice walk down a local trail. We are out here to discuss an important topic. Solo camping safety. Particularly the importance of carrying some form of communication device, or at the very least, have some sort of plan in place with a friend or family member to know when you'll be back. That way if something does happen and you are late, they know when to hit the panic button and where to start a search for you.
Being alone out there is a lot of fun. Being alone and hurt is not. It is important to always be careful and have a plan in place. Stay safe everyone!

Great commentary buddy. I don't do solo overnights, but I do venture out alone most times. I always tell Jeanette where I am going and the projected time frames. Might have to look up something like this. Thanks for the chat buddy.

Great video, very informative points that could safe a persons life. I'm glad you had a happy ending but you made a great point. I was a safety guy for the Union and we fought for out employees to have a particular item to alert if they were in danger because we had employees (myself included) working alone and in remote areas. We always stressed for our employees , have it with you , attached to you because it was of no use on the dash of your truck if you're stranded away from your vehicle.

I keep thinking about getting the Motorola Defy gps messenger, just like the Zoleo but cheaper. I'm the world's worst about just disappearing, not knowing exactly where I'm going, so can't exactly make prior emergency plans. Maybe one of these days I'll actually get it.

I'm not always where I said I'd be either. The zoleo lets me send a location if I change spots. The peace of mind, being able to get help if needed is worth the cost. Stay safe Buddy! 🤝
