    RBR Pro is not recommended to anyone, they try to commercialize the game by stealing free mods and bundling them together. Account are deleted after a week if you don't donate.

    I as an inexperienced rally simmer, started with RBR(Rallysimfans), and I'll say it was pretty hard at first but as I gather more experience it was very exhilarating to complete stages with full focus. Overall, RBR is truly the best Rally Sim. Also I play only with a keyboard...

    Great video, it's interesting to hear your opinions on rally games. I'd say that faster and smoother force feedback really helps when you are competing in DiRT Rally 2.0. From my experience, that game prefers very sharp steering inputs due to the ridiculous amount of responsiveness the cars' front wheels have. A direct drive wheel really gets rid of that resistance the other wheels have and makes it more natural to steer fast. Of course if you can't afford it you can use a gear/belt driven wheel but you can feel and hear that the wheels are not meant to do that. They will wear out faster than they are supposed to if you keep pushing them like that.

      I owned my G29 and loved it for 3 years almost. Didnt feel like i had to upgrade until i started to drive competitie and got frustrated at myself for not being as fast. Ugrading to Fanatec made me 2 seconds faster in F1 2021 in about a month.

    Your description of how it can feel like to start off your Rally journey with DR2.0 and that it might cost you a few keyboards was pretty damn accurate. lol
    I jumped into rally head first and got a pretty full set of gear to build my sim rig. And DR2.0 was the game I picked to start with. During the first 2 months it got to a point where I wasnt sure if this was a wise investment. I felt like every protruding rock, ditch, pole or any obstacle really. Was like a siren, and I was a lost sailor at sea always finding my way to them. I seriously was wondering... Do I even know how to drive?
    I kept up with it, and when I finally tried out the WRC 9 title. I realized, OK. This game has a much more gentle difficulty curve, and somewhat easier handling. But to one of your other points. The difficulty settings of DR2.0 are horrible. The jump from Clubman to whatever is the next difficulty level is so strong. I went from dominating rallies or RallyX to not even being able to quality or not being able to reach even top 8. It makes for a very frustrating experience when you are still learning. WRC definitely makes it easier to tweak the difficulty so you dont feel you are a noob racing against pros.

    With my experience with sim racing over the past 7 years i gotta say that going from a gear driven wheel (logitech g29) to a belt driven wheel (thrustmaster t300 rs) was a massive step up for me personally. The feel and force feedback alone was worth the upgrade and the TP3A pedals just made it feel more like driving a car than a game. no the t300 isnt a perfect setup but for the price i got mine at (£110 pre covid sim racing tax) i cannot complain.
    A noteable mention for a dirt cheap wheel to get started in any racing i would recommend (that is cheaper than the g27 that you mentioned) is the logitech driving force GT. For less than a yearly iracing membership you can pick up a very good beginner wheel to get you started! force feedback isnt amazing but it will get you up to speed with the basics!
    great video though keep it up!

    you can go eeeextra budgety with no FFB but extra steering angle.
    For example I am using 540 degree bungee cord wheel with Dirt Rally 2.0
    Yes it is not realistic or correct but it works and its fun 🤷🏻‍♂

    I know you don’t recommend Direct Drive for rally, but if you were to get one what would you choose? Just the cheapest one available or is there a certain number of force we would like to hit? (Personally I want a DD because I used a belt and gear systems before I really do not like them)

    • @FortySeventhGear
      @FortySeventhGear  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I have extensively ONLY used csl dd And personally i have ONLY tried other Direct drives for few minutes. But i really enjoy the csl dd . I have the booster kit but before i had the kit It was still great. Many people Are though not fans of the csl dd And instead opt for the moza dd for example. If you do not need really strong ffb i think csl dd Is fine. The ffb Is for example fine for modern Cars. Also the quality of the feedback Is top notch.

    • @FortySeventhGear
      @FortySeventhGear  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      assuming you have a wheel and pedals. It is heavily individual because most of the enjoyment comes from the driving itself and not from any career mode. It's for free so I would give it a shot. The game has its own rally school mode So I would check that out.

  • @progun1corn
    @progun1corn ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I enjoyed your video, but I don't really think Dirt Rally can be considered as close to reality simcade. Sure it's very hard, but not from the driving itself but track design and game design. Not all hard game is close to reality. Dirt Rally is more like a hardcore rally simcade that at the base it's a tuned-up arcade game. WRC could considered as simcade close to real but simplified.
    Potentially, BeamNG could be also proper sim. Now it lacks lots of things, but at least there's a lot to discover with Jbeam and could easily get authentic dynamics with some coding and setting that calculates real numbers.

      Dirt rally 2.0 has more realistic loose surface handling, wrc has more realistic tarmac handling.

    • @progun1corn
      @progun1corn ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@qwikdrifts nope, Dirt Rally doesn't have more realistic loose surface handling. Dirt Rally has way more longitudinal grip and way less lateral grip than reality, means you don't need to care about throttle control as much but it will be super understeery. It's very clear that the physics are meant to be tuned hard.

    • @FortySeventhGear
      @FortySeventhGear  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      17 year old vanilla RBR is certainly not up to modern standards. But with NGP physics and other mods... I dare to say it created the modern standard for rally sim. I do not even know any other rally Sim than RBR with NGP. Dirt and Wrc are still Simcades. RBR with NGP might lack some grip on gravel and snow on some stages but for example the vanilla ones feel amazing. Also RBR with NGP has probably the best FFB out of all rally games.
      But a long time ago, I also considered RBR to be a mess and a shitty game because It felt so different when compared at the time to for example Dirt 3.
      Thanks for the Comment !

    • @pbakai182
      @pbakai182 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      and your idea of a sim is what? bloom filled, dream-like and saturated graphics? tarmac that feels like gravel-lite where you never lose grip?
      RBR is missing some important rally sim elements like flat tires, but the lack in audio/stage/video quality IMO doesn't take it out of that top tier of sims..

    • @FortySeventhGear
      @FortySeventhGear  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@pbakai182 In my opinion graphics do not play a big role in terms of determining a sim... yes games like Dirt can be more immersive due to that but also tarmac in Dirt rally is too floaty even with a firm setup RBR feels more realistic.. the car does feel firm but you can get it loose... it though depends on the quality of the mod and coupled with a good force feedback It does feel like driving a car... although its the priorities that determine which one you prefer... I just looked at the game as objectively as possible ... realistic does not mean better and for example WRC G is a much better game than RBR when we consider all the important things a game (not sim) should have.

    • @pbakai182
      @pbakai182 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FortySeventhGear yep. i'm having a blast trying out WRC:G. but the immersion just isn't all there with the physics feeling "inconsistent" or "weird." driving in RBR just *feels* right, and that's most important to me for most immersion. not to mention, support for VR... DR2 feels so wrong even in VR. of course I am forever grateful to DR for getting me into Rally, I had so much fun with it for months trying to control those GrpB cars :D
      but I will never agree that it is a top-tier rally sim.
