I personally have found wrc games to be like a giraffe on roller skates, just going for a quiet drive at slow speeds..20-60 kms.( peaceful cruise through Africa etc).can see you off the road and even roll. I find dr 1&2 have a bit more weight to car which I like.
That being said wrc games (I don't have 10 yet so thanks for the informed vid:) have cool stages so I am now trying hard to get good at wrc9 in prep for 10. Great vid thankyou.

The visuals and "liveliness" in WRC 10 are the biggest problem to me even if it's better in some aspects than DR 2.0. I think both games are good but the stages, co driver calls, scenery and sound in DR 2.0 are just a league above WRC 10's in my opinion. "Immersion" is a HUGE part of what makes a "sim" a sim to me and DR 2.0 immersion is just better hands down, But that's just my opinion. WRC 10's graphics to me are just too "sharp" and doesn't have near as good of a "sense of speed" in my opinion.. WRC 10 is just too "clinical" and "corporate" for my taste and really lacks emotion compared to DR 2.0.
It only took me 1 stage on WRC 10 with hearing how my favorite rally car (the 037) sounded for me to go "nope that's completely wrong" and then I lost some immersion because of that. While The 037 on DR 2.0 is spot on. It's a small gripe but it matters. I think WRC 10 while it may have more "depth" like you said just doesn't give me the pure adrenaline or the "Let's do this" feeling that DR 2.0 gives me. Good video though, I liked seeing someone else give their opinion and break it down.
It is also worth noting that I own all the DLC for DR 2.0 so I could see someone maybe being a bit disappointed with the level of content in DR 2.0 if they just bought the base game, as a lot of cool and legendary cars are indeed locked behind DLC. I noticed you called Sweden "tedious" in DR 2.0.. Well then that means they did their job well then lol Driving almost any rally stage IRL could be called "tedious" Just poking some fun haha.
I could however see someone being really happy with WRC 10 if they hadn't played any other rally game in the last few years or DR 2.0 was too hard for them.

For me the main attraction for DR 2.0 is the sense of speed, especially for older cars. To give an example, when you get inside a Group B car and press the throttle with the right FOV, it is really thrilling. Whereas in WRC9 and WRC10 the older cars feel really dull. And as for lots of others here the main attraction of WRC games are incredible stages and tarmac rallying.

    • @ATribeCalledCars
      @ATribeCalledCars  2 ปีที่แล้ว +28

That's true and also some of the Group B cars in WRC have less power for whatever reason. You can adjust the FoV in WRC too, which helps with the sensation of speed.

@@ATribeCalledCars I wonder if people consider Dirt 1&2 ffb to be floaty because they have a T300? The T300 FFB doesn’t work properly on DR1/PS4 but the T500/PS4 does and the TMX for XB1 was fine with DR1 but not DR2.0 for some reason. They never fixed it and the forums they had for Dirt no longer exist, they never acknowledged the problem on the forum even after everyone made threads about it either, it was also affected by which car and surface you were on, there were people in the forums switching between wheels /Fanatec/Thrustmaster/Logitech and it seemed to only be a T300/TMX problem. I found a T500 used wheel base for cheap and it was a night and day difference from my newer T300 and was much better on my PS4. Being Italian I only drove on tarmac and snow, never tried gravel on a proper rally prepped car. I would say that hands down tarmac and mixed tarmac/snow is way better on wrc9/10. I really hate tarmac on dirt.. it is just awkward.. Gravel feels quite right on both but in my opinion wrc is still a bit better.
In my opinion rbr with some mods (I use rbr world because of the European/Italian community with many rally drivers from my country) is still the king with stages and cars selection, of course graphics/sound/co drivers etc are very old but on a sim I don't really care .
We will see what Codemasters will do with the wrc license in 2023.. I hope that they will use a new physics/graphic engine, the ego engine is now very old

The EGO engine is still a great engine and the difference between the first DR and the second is like night and day. They already rebuilt the physics engine for DR1 and improved it in DR2. The graphics in DR2 is amazing with it's handcrafted stages, even though there aren't many places. EGO is still one of the best game engines just like RAGE, UE, Source and Source2 and Unity (maybe?). PLUS, making a completely new physics and graphics engine would be very expensive and time consuming and just perfecting the EGO engine would be the best thing to do because it benefits the developers and the consumers.

I could however see someone being really happy with WRC 10 if they hadn't played any other rally game in the last few years or DR 2.0 was too hard for them.

I'm a very good controller driver both in Dirt Rally 2.0 and in non-rally racing such as F1 etc and playing WRC on a controller is garbage... and I'm sorry but WRC is a video game... if a video game can't be played on the standard input system for gaming consoles and PCs and can only be even playable on a racing wheel then it's a total dumpster fire material... I own Dirt 1, 2, 3, 4, (missed Dirty Rally for some reason) Dirt Rally 2.0, WRC 9 & 10. I loved all of the Dirt series except 3, because of all the Gymkana bullshit. After playing WRC 9 for a year or so I bought 10 about 2 weeks ago and just got the 21 Gig patch on Saturday. Some where between Dirt Rally 2 & WRC 9 I upgrade to a Thrustmaster TX Servo with a Sparco R383 Mod with T3PA pedals on an Xbox 1 X. I don't see how a anyone can say the like controller better than a wheel, but that's an argument for another day. Don't really remember where I was going with this but I would say the entirety of the Dirt series is very easy to drive and configure. I made very few adjustments When I purchase WRC 9 I had issues with the button and pedal bindings (have it worked out now) and I had a very difficult time setting the control inputs to my liking. It was so bad I almost gave up and deleted it from my system. For some reason I purchased WRC 10 and I love it. I haven't confirmed this by playing WRC 9 again, but after lots of hours with WRC 10 I think it was my driving style. I don't know if its the difference in physics between the different games, but I developed a driving style in Dirt where I basically over drive the car and WRC won't tolerate that type of driving. I've had to become much more smooth with the throttle and much less heavy footed. Somewhere in there I went to a 2 footed driving style. Might be some difference there as well. Anyway, I guess I said all of that to say this. I agree with your assessment. I like WRC 10 better. Hopefully, in the takeover they won't shitcan WRC altogether and they will incorporate the better qualities into the Dirt Series.

WRC 10 for tarmac, Dirt for gravel. That's how I've always felt with both franchises. For me, RX is fun AF in Dirt 2.0 too for what its worth. Now that WRC is going to EA/Codemasters we're going to have to wait and see what happens but it should be interesting to say the least.

@TL Racing GT Eh, I don't think so... because it's a racing game... I think it will be similar to how the F1 2021 game looks like in terms of game setup and F1 doesn't feel like it's cheating you in any way... it's a brilliant game...
So I think that in terms of paid DLC etc it will have just as much as Dirt Rally 2.0 has right now (meaning you'll have to get the season cars by paying something like 10-15 bucks per season)... now if you think Dirt Rally 2.0 is greedy then it's another story... personally I think that EA can't screw it enough to make it trash and codemasters knows how to make good racing games that cater to all audiences (both casual gamers and hardcore racers with expensive wheel setups) better than any other studio... so personally I'm excited that Codemasters is getting WRC since I love rally games way more than F1 which is fun but not nearly as exciting...

I like both, the physics of Dirt seem too exaggerated in terms of weight, becoming truly tortuous in terms of weight transfer change. Since WRC 10 came out with its great content in historical cars and its improvement in the FFB and physics of the cars, for me the winner is WRC 10. There is also the issue of paying for the cars, it is something I hate, they do not have enough with the money in the game?, no, you have to pay to have this or that car, and for that alone it is a WRC 10 winner. Greetings. Sorry for the translation.

I couldn't agree more with basically all of your opinions.
The way I see it, WRC 10 feels like an indie game, lacking in production value but outstanding gameplay, while DR2.0 just flaunts its massive production costs, in comparison.
I personally don't like DR2.0 but I can definitely see why some may prefer it. It feels more like a game, it looks and sounds like a high production cost project.
WRC is still pretty much a tech-demo, but it definitely has shown amazing growth considering the smaller studio behind it and the yearly deadlines.
WRC falling into Codemasters is honestly a dangerous gamble. It can go both ways. They could use their huge budget to bring incredible realism, or they could just pull an F1 where they just throw money at it to bring the big brands and features, while sporting a rather mediocre driving experience, like later Codemasters titles have shown.

Tried both. I am way more used to Dirt Rally 2, but WRC 10 does seem more like a realistic experience. Main causes are the weight balance of the car, in Dirt 2 the car seems lightest. On tarmac, as everyone staid the difference is staggering. On all other surfaces, the cars seems easier to handle on Dirt, due to that same issue, the inertia on WRC is quite punishing, but this is maybe because i am still not used to it.
Visually, WRC 10 looks a full generation downgrade from Dirt, but the stages are much more appealing.
At the end...buy both! I don't think they completely overwrite each other.
