I also have schizophrenia, it's difficult, I've been dealing with medication for 20 years, it helps me find reasons to have hope and lead a simpole life, going for a walk in the morning, staying busy. different laboratories are developing new medications that can help us with negative symptoms, many are already in final tests, that gives me hope, thanks for sharing your experiences, and I hope that all of us who have to go through this have the strength to continue with life, seeing and appreciating beautiful things. Courage

My girlfriend also suffers from schizophrenia. We are very hopeful for new medications targetting better the negative symptoms and better side-effects profile. People suffering from this debilitating ilness deserve the best support in the world, the best efforts in research.
I've recently heard about a medication called Emraclidine that is in clinical trials phase. And also xanomeline-trospium. Have you heard about these?

I feel you. The antipsychotics that we are prescribed actually cause the negative symptoms although they treat the positive symptoms, and we struggle with feelings of inadequacy and failure. From an outside observer, your service, through these videos, is a worthy role to play in our society, and I appreciate it so much. Nothing ordinary about it!

I love how you’ve shared your story. Many people share but they don’t talk about how frightening this can be. My son has schizophrenia and it breaks my heart for him and for anyone suffering from this illness. Also I am disappointed in the medical system because this is a neurological disorder yet it is considered a mental illness! Maybe if researchers would change course from mental illness to what it actually is as a neurological disorder this could be treated better and or cured ❤️ God bless you in your journey

Scientists agree schizophrenia is neurological. It’s still considered a mental illness because we do not understand the neurological basis well enough. Once scientists understand the neurological basis, it will be considered a neurological illness.

I'm watching this 2 years later and you've come a long way.
I've gotten a lot of different diagnoses over the years. Turns out I have cptsd from two abusive alcoholic and personality disordered parents, plus ADHD. But there was a time it was thought I had schizophrenia and was given an anti-psychotic call Mellaril. Also I had major depression with psychotic features and got lithium which at the time was a godsend.
Anyway the best thing for me to do is stay the hell away from triggers like my family. There is no way for me to be stable with any of them in my life. But that's just me.

@@Kimberly_Viktoria Thanks Kimberly I'm pretty good. I hope you are well too. Here to watch one of your fantastic videos again. Yes I've heard voices too but it's so garbled and I couldn't make anything out so I thought it must not be voices then. But yes I've heard them. I've heard it clearly a few times like coming out of the dashboard of my car. Also I was on the phone with my NPD mother and as clear as bell I heard "Throw the phone," which I did. $90 cordless phone wrecked lol. She'll be dead 10 years tomorrow coincidentally, TYG. There's a lot of good people in the world but she wasn't one of them. The damage these people do is untold. Keeping my family out of my life is really my key to peace. I have at least one cousin who doesn't understand where I've disappeared to, sadly. Too long a story for the comment section. Suffice to say my mother's father died in an infamous asylum at age 62. So mental illness runs in my genes. I have to live well, smart-selfishly, peacefully, exercise, and watch lovely videos :) I make a point to count my blessings and you are one of them!

Thank you so much for sharing, dear Kimberly. I found your video while following the "Living Well with Schizophrenia" channel and I'm very happy I did, because now I'm watching the rest of your videos and they make me feel much less lonely. I'd like to share my most recent discovery, which has been psychoanalytic psychotherapy. I have been taking it for almost a year now. Even though mainstream scientific institutions sidestep or frankly reject psychoanalysis, it's been the only kind of therapy that helps me make sense out of my hallucinatory experiences. Trying to sort out the possible meanings of the patterns of my illness has provided me with a lot of understanding and more compassion towards myself and others. If life gives me the chance, I'd like to become a psychoanalyst to help other people with psychosis. I send you lots of love 💙

You said that your grades in high school were not the best. Please know, it is not because you are not smart (you are very smart). It was NOT your fault. You had needs as an individual that were not being met. You are a good, worthy and smart person and please know, you are not alone. My family will never see more below the iceberg of my suffering. I thank my medications that it avoided my to go totally insane but I still have symptoms. I may be have a of bit sanity but the voices and delusions are still here. It is still a fight. I have been suffering from this illness for 11 years. Do you still have symptoms even on medication? I gained a lot of weight after antipsychotics as well. Olanzapine 10 mg.
It is true that depression and anxiety are more common and schizophrenia is less talked about.
I have bipolar disorder with psychotic features, but if I look up content on bipolar disorder, sometimes there is no psychosis present. Not everyone with bipolar disorder has psychosis. This is why I look up schizophrenia.
People with bipolar with psychotic features actually have a more similar genetic profile to schizophrenia than with bipolar alone.
I also wanna add that psychosis is not a white illness, (I’m Indonesian) but the people who speak about it are mostly white.
This goes to show that non-white people in general are less comfortable to talk about their schizophrenia or psychosis.
Also there are more white people in America anyway. There are much less Asian people in America, even less Asian people with psychosis, and even less Asian people willing to speak about it.

Medications have a time and a place however sometimes mental illness is caused by physical causes . Some of the physical causes are thyroid dysfunction , leaky gut , candida overgrowth , heavy metal poisoning and nutritional deficiencies ( i.e Vitamin D deficiency and B12 ) . Some people can manage without medication , once they address the physical causes .

    Hej fra Danmark 💜
i am 31 and just got diagnosed with schizophrenia a few months ago.
i so agree with how taboo it is. still depression and anxiety feels safer for people to talk about... and like there is nothing worse than that, .. and i don't know if schizophrenia is worse, i guess it depends.. but i would personally say skizo is worse than "just" being anxious. and it feels so lonely that you can't really talk about it with anyone. cause people have no idea what to say. some are scared of you because you are just "too weird" for them.
i am still trying to accept my diagnosis. i was misdiagnosed as a borderline and OCD and autism prior.... but nope. it's good old schizophrenia.
i really hope i can finally get help now. maybe medication can help.
i really wish you well💜 i think it's really cool you are so open and honest. i feel with you. you're not alone.
no one will really be able to understand unless they have it too. this video made me feel less alone. thank you.
    sending you hugs.

A cure is possible through JESUS CHRIST as stated in the biblical book of MARK 9:23 "If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes."
      MARK 1:32-34
32 At evening, when the sun had set, they brought to Him all who were sick and those who were demon - possessed.
33 And the whole city was gathered together at the door.
34 Then He healed many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons; and He did not allow the demons to speak, because they knew Him.
JOHN 17:3 And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.
HEBREWS 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Wow, very similar story.. I am also 29, thought it was a spiritual awakening and I just needed some tightening up.. a year later I finally realized and fully accepted the illness, the voices still talk to me like trash.. but I’m getting medication soon so hopefully that helps, resperidone didn’t help me when I spent 6 months in the islands last year.. hopefully the docs over here have something better 😢

hey! i have schizo affective disorder bi polar type. i like channels of people who have my illness! i am relatively new to TH-cam. it is not totally great but it is something good to me. i like old tech too like pen and paper and books. i thought I'd lost the ability to read but it came back. it'll probably go again soon. i have been in deep psychosis and revived myself. i take several types of medicine but think science needs a better answer.

I can't really tell you what I did to recover since I still experience many symtoms, however I don't have any voices currently and thats probably because of antipsychotics I take, currently i'm on olanzapine and a new one which I don't know the name of in English but other than them I have also had a good response to quetiapine. thank you for watching! 🥰
