    There are gps modules that can be connected to Volvo and other pumps. This allows speed sensitive power steering, most assistance at low speed, less assistance at high speed.

    You can get it to fire up instantly,instead of wind up noise needs a 2 sec trigger before main power, i did run my trigger off alt , or a 2 sec time delay

      I have been looking at the start up relay that are available but it's not a big issue for me car will be a Sunday crusier and probably sit out side my shop more then anything

      You can buy time delay relays for the trigger circuit. There are also gps modules that work with Volvo pumps that reduce power assistance at high speed.

    Nice work, thanks for sharing. Hopefully you installed a rubber grommet in the hole where you ran the pump wires 😉. And also, looking at the ATR website, it looks like a similar rubber grommet is installed around the hole in the inner guard where the reservoir sits, so there's no chance of any chafing of the bottle with car vibrations.... 🙃

      That's correct mate haven't done it yet because I'm taking off the front end to do a few things, and I will do it when it all goes back together

      Thanks mate it's got a statesman front end on it, the grill is in a pretty bad state but I'll see what I can do with it

    You can reduce the noise from the pump by doing the following; use a crimped power steering hose with double cloth braid (Gates or Yokohama are good) and no wire braid (either internal or external), put a restrictor in the hose at the pump end (you can cannibalise the old Astra hose to re-use a restrictor by silver soldering it to the hosetail) and finally use synthetic power steering oil (not ATF!). The Astra pump is a great upgrade and can be used on dozens of different types of vehicles. If you're wiring from scratch note they need a lot of amps!

      What oil should i use with it? Why not ATF dextron II ?

    • @nigelgreen2711
      @nigelgreen2711 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ivannikolov2334 ATF doesn't have a high enough heat rating for power steering. Also PS requires specific additives (anti-chatter, anti-squawk etc). Put simply, it's best to use power steering oil in power steering systems and it's about the same cost so it's an easy decision.

      @@nigelgreen2711 my BMW E36 use ATF Dextron II in its power steering. I have a mate which put Astra PS pump running without issues with the Dextron II. What oil should i put then? The green OEM oil for PS for Opel?

    • @nigelgreen2711
      @nigelgreen2711 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ivannikolov2334 I'm not a big fan of the green OEM hydraulic oil used by Opel, Peugeot etc as it is primarily for suspension systems. When I'm working on custom PS installations I recommend synthetic PS oil. If you like Castrol then use the Castrol product! Here in Oz we get much hotter ambient temperatures so I use Penrite HPSO synthetic PS oil as it was developed with our conditions in mind.

    good luck when you try to fit your bumper. I tried this exact kit tonight on my hq which says in the instructions only hj-hz bumper brackets need to be removed or modified. well guess what. doesnt even go close to fitting on the hq. my pump is hitting my hq outer bumper bracket by at least an inch also 114 m hole is nowhere near big enough as reservoir hits not allowing top bracket bolt to pull into the chassis by also an inch. pretty dissapointed to be honest actually pissed off. was meant to be two steps forward tonight. but now another complete headfuck.
